I had a quick scan of the ingredients of this foundation on the Sephora website and I wanted to do a little break down of some of the ingredients in this product. :) In my quick scan, I only found two Coconut Oil derived ingredients. They are both chemical substances derived from coconut oil. Coco-Caprylate is a skin-conditioning agent, emulsifier, emollient and Coconut Alkanes is a plant derived silicone. These ingredients are some of the different components that make up coconut oil. I'm not saying they won't break you out if coconut oil reacts badly to your skin or vice versa but, your skin might react differently to them. Mine does, I usually don't breakout if they are included in an ingredient list but if I use straight coconut oil (even refined), my face turns into a pimply mess. I also wanted to talk about the Shea Butter in there :). It is has a comedogenic rating of 0 which is awesome it means that it doesn't clog pores, however it is but is really high in oleic acid, and has low levels of linoleic acid. This means that it is considered a "no-no" for acne prone skins because the high concentration of oleic acid actually causes sebum (the skins natural oil) to thicken in pores and that encourages blockages that may cause acne. For example, people who are acne prone have a lower amount of linoleic acid, and a higher amount of oleic acid in their sebum (the skins natural oil ) . It’s considered that these low linoleic acid levels is one of the factors that causes acne. Some research says that linoleic acid has anti-inflammatory, acne reductive, and moisture holding & absorbing properties when applied topically on the skin. So oily-combo-dry acne prone gals/guys look out for oils that contain high percentages of linoleic acid, such as Rosehip, Hemp and Evening Primrose oils. They might give your skin the benefits mentioned above. However in the end I don't know how anyone might react to these ingredients/ oils mentioned because everyone's skin is different. You just need to find ingredients that work for you. It's a lot of trial and error. Anything Aloe, in my opinion, is fantastic. I have severe eczema and my grandmother used to grow aloe plants for me and it healed my breakouts and reduced the swelling that can come with eczema.
I know this video is a few months old, but I'm so so glad that I decided to see what you had to say about this foundation before I tried the free sample I got with a Sephora order. I'm allergic to Shea butter, you saying that it's in the foundation totally saved me from having a severe reaction.
I just got this foundation recently and I really love it. I have dry skin, even in summer and this is the first foundation in a while that doesn't settle or break apart on me. I have been using this during the day and then the josie maran argan oil in a very thin layer over my other skin care at night and I have noticed a really nice change in my skin.
I love Josie maran, I have never used face products except maybe a clearisil facewash. One day flipping through channels I stopped at qvc saw Josie selling her argan oil was a little interested. My step mom ended up buying it and not using it she gave it to me and it changed my life. I now use it daily. I have always had acne the worst combo skin. It goes from super oily to Sahara dessert dry. Since starting using argan oil daily my acne is 50% gone and the dry is gone. I can still get a little oily by day's end but surprisingly it isn't worse. I also use the stuff in my hair as a weekly treatment and my hair has never been healthier or longer. So if ur on the fence about getting the actual foundation I encourage you to buy the oil. It's pricey but I just started my 30s and besides washing it's my only face product because it's so packed full of skin benefits.
I purchased this foundation at Sephora today. It was recommended by the person who did my makeup. I had asked for a satin/dewy type. My skin is dry. She use PorefessionalPearl Primer. The primer is amazing. Very happy with the foundation. Ultra had on more than one occasion picked out a yellow toned foundation (not Josie). That yellow stood way out. N.G. Sephora finally got it right. I got the same RG5
You asked about ingredients. My guy is a medical doc so I asked him...I have cystic acne too (far worse than yours, you're lucky! Your skin always looks so great.) Coconut oil is about the worst thing that certain people w cystic acne can put on the skin. It claims to be good for skin, but it all depends on the way the oil was sourced, processed and used with other products. Some have drastic, horrible reactions, others do not. Shea butter is one of the best for skin, especially for acne. Pure shea can really, really soothe and aid in repair of skin suffering form acne, especially if you use strong products. Argan oil is wonderful for any skin, however it can be reflective (attract the sun's rays) and that's never good, so use argan with an SPF. Argan is healing, depending on the way it's processed. With this foundation, if you have acne or are oily, use a light zinc oxide SPF versus a traditional moisturizer as the argan oil in this product will suffice as both moisturizer and foundation. It's a pretty universal product as far as being almost a BB/Foundation with various coverage levels. Hope this helps. :)
Fractionated coconut oil is the only thing that I can use on myself without breaking out. It's been heated to remove the long chain fatty amino acids, and doesn't turn into a solid form. It's very hydrating without causing breakouts.
I have been loving these videos from you! I would never stick with doing something like this, so major props to you! I also love that you show close ups, not many RUclipsrs do that just because it's not the most flattering. You are so very authentic and in the most effortless way, too. Not the "I'm trying to be different" way. I wanted to throw in a skincare product that has changed the chemistry of my skin almost completely. My skin was VERY similar to yours only a few months ago, but I randomly picked up the Peter Thomas Roth Max Correction pads and WOW. Acne products never helped me in the 8-10 years before struggling with breakouts, but these made a huge difference even in the texture of my skin. I still get mild breakouts, but nothing like what it was. You and I would both consider that clear! Try them out whenever you get the chance. :)

Hello! This is my HG foundation! Absolutely love it :) doesn't irritate my skin at all, lasts all day and covers my blemishes and scars!! Ever since this product I stopped hunting for other foundations although I do wish I could make the finish a bit more matte at times!! Love your review! Looks fantastic on you!
Argan oil is one of my FAVORITE skin oils to use, second to rosehip oil, I'd say. Neither of them break me out and I actually sell a blend of face oils that have worked well for me (with a couple extra oils mixed in). So far I haven't heard anything about it breaking anyone else out, but of course everyone is different. I'd agree that coconut oil tends to be associated with breaking out (though as others have said, it could help some people) but I think argan oil is generally considered pretty safe and is SUPER good for your skin and hair! I hope this foundation didn't break you out, it looks lovely on you!
It's 2017 and I am so pleasantly surprised that you have a review for this foundation! because I am considering buying it but I wasn't sure about the Aragon oil because I tend to have a little bit of oily skin but your review has definitely helped me make the choice and I will definitely purchase this, the color looks amazing also and I love that it doesn't oxidize I have high hopes for this and thank you for your honesty as always.

I just used the MUF water blend and it is VERY sheer, I had to use about 8 pumps to get a medium coverage! Would love to see how Ayla applies it cause I tried 3 diff ways and wasn't loving any!
She tends to wear full-coverage foundation and I know the MF Water Blend is for people who are looking for sheer, very natural and basically undetectable coverage. I'm guessing she'd hate it 😅

Thank you sooo much for reviewing this one. I got a very small sample from Sephora a month or so ago and got maybe 2-3 uses and loved it but was still nervous to take the plunge and buy it. This should be okay for your skin. I looked up the ingredients and nothing too concerning! Shea butter is a little comedogenic, but in minor usage it may be okay. I actually have reallyyyy acne-prone skin, and argon oil (the light version) I use daily and never feel greasy. It helps clear my skin actually. And I LOVE that it has fair neutral tones! I am very neutral, so anything too pink or yellow always looks weird on my skin. I'm definitely gonna try this out.
if you haven't done food allergy test will advice you to try it. I had acne all over my face, chest and back. I always thought it was acne and that it could be hormonal. I tried all kind of harsh medication including pills. at the end I discovered that I had allergy from chicken, gluten and milk. I didn't have the allergy before it developed on me suddenly.
It smells like Argan oil! I got two deluxe samples of this with Sephora orders and I really love it. It has lots of coverage but doesn't look or feel heavy.

tea tree oil is great for acne it has anti bacterial properties I mixed a few drops into my cleanser and also I put some on a cotton round and used it like a toner ( not as much of product as a toner) I'm sure you could also mix it in with a moisturizer
I think this foundation looks really nice! I have a bottle of argan oil and have no idea what to do with it, I was thinking of mixing it in with some of my foundations that cling to dry areas, but I'm scared it'll break me out.

Shea butter is acnegenic and definitely one of my triggers. An exception can be unless way low down on ingredients list or raw and unfiltered (would need to specify that and its normally super expensive products that have it in, triple the price of this) xx

Sephora recommended this one for me; I liked it at first but it went on so watery from my sample. I'm wondering if they didn't shake the bottle before dispensing. Might have to try it again after watching this!

I really like your channel because I feel like I can relate to you well Like I'm really pale, and I feel like I can give a similar vibe to you just because of your mannerisms. I would love it if you tried out the Emani foundation. All the Emani cosmetics are vegan and supposedly all natural! I have acne prone skin and would like to see if you like it before I try it.
Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial. I have oily and acne prone skin as well and since using straight coconut oil as a face moisturizer I've noticed that my skin has calmed down a good bit. hope that helps! 😊
+faeriegurl87 TN it all depends on the person. For some people it's great but for some it isn't. Which is why it's something I would recommend with caution. It seemed to work for me for a while but then I got these little white bumps under my skin around my mouth

You know, I did think about your skin and was worried about it with all the new foundations. Glad it's not freaking out. But it does make sense like you said, you try new things everyday anyway. I don't do any sort of videos, just watch so I have no idea what really goes into making a video. I know editing is a long processes, but idk the extent of it. I give any vlogger so much credit. I have a little sample bottle of this foundation and I've tried it once. I wasn't really impressed with it but it looks so good in this video I have to try it again! Maybe this is a foundation that doesn't need a primer apparently :)

I have tried several brands of Argan Oil and was very pleased with the quality of Argan life pure argan oil. I would recommend this product.

Do the new Makeup Forever Water Blend face and body foundation or whatever its called

She tends to wear full-coverage foundation and I know the MF Water Blend is for people who are looking for sheer, very natural and basically undetectable coverage. I'm guessing she'd hate it 😅

Well being much older than you; I listened you your advice on this foundation and I ordered it from Amazon. This is the best foundation for older skin such as mine and I can't thank you enough for reviewing this product. This should be okay for your skin. I looked up the ingredients and nothing too concerning! Shea butter is a little comedogenic, but in minor usage it may be okay. I actually have reallyyyy acne-prone skin, and argon oil (the light version) I use daily and never feel greasy. It helps clear my skin actually. And I LOVE that it has fair neutral tones! I am very neutral, so anything too pink or yellow always looks weird on my skin. I'm definitely gonna try this out.
if you haven't done food allergy test will advice you to try it. I had acne all over my face, chest and back. I always thought it was acne and that it could be hormonal. I tried all kind of harsh medication including pills. at the end I discovered that I had allergy from chicken, gluten and milk. I didn't have the allergy before it developed on me suddenly.

It smells like Argan oil! I got two deluxe samples of this with Sephora orders and I really love it. It has lots of coverage but doesn't look or feel heavy.

tea tree oil is great for acne it has anti bacterial properties I mixed a few drops into my cleanser and also I put some on a cotton round and used it like a toner ( not as much of product as a toner) I'm sure you could also mix it in with a moisturizer

I think this foundation looks really nice! I have a bottle of argan oil and have no idea what to do with it, I was thinking of mixing it in with some of my foundations that cling to dry areas, but I'm scared it'll break me out.

Shea butter is acnegenic and definitely one of my triggers. An exception can be unless way low down on ingredients list or raw and unfiltered (would need to specify that and its normally super expensive products that have it in, triple the price of this) xx

Loving this series! I've been wondering about this particular foundation. I have combo/oily skin, but I have had great luck with Josie Maran Argan Oil light at night.

I love these videos. So excited that your posting everyday. Must be a lot of work on your part though. Next, you should do 15 days of . . . . (concealers, liquid lipsticks, brow products, palettes, lol). Clearly you're the one with the good ideas.
Sephora recommended this one for me; I liked it at first but it went on so watery from my sample. I'm wondering if they didn't shake the bottle before dispensing. Might have to try it again after watching this!

Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial. I have oily and acne prone skin as well and since using straight coconut oil as a face moisturizer I've noticed that my skin has calmed down a good bit. hope that helps! 😊
It's a also very pore clogging (comedogenic) which can be an issue for some people
+Alicia Chatterton it can be yes, but even though I have large pores it hasn't seemed to make my blackheads any worse
+faeriegurl87 TN it all depends on the person. For some people it's great but for some it isn't. Which is why it's something I would recommend with caution. It seemed to work for me for a while but then I got these little white bumps under my skin around my mouth

I have dry skin and redness from eczema and wow this did not cover anything and it was very watery do you think the formula is different ? I wore g15.. and the smell is like pool chemicals to me lol ugh I wanted to love it

I have a little sample bottle of this foundation and I've tried it once. I wasn't really impressed with it but it looks so good in this video I have to try it again! Maybe this is a foundation that doesn't need a primer apparently :)
