    Salley was exactly like this even when he was a rookie. In Detroit he was everybody's favorite interview, made a point of living in the city, and befriended hated opponents while still being a respected Piston. You could tell he had a clear picture of where he was going, and he made it happen.

    That Tony Kukoc-Luka reference was spot on..Tony Kukoc would be exactly like Luka today respect for that John..btw Luka started playing pro in 14 yrs old in Real Madrid he played grown ass man since they are 14-15 so you can't scare them you can't do nothing to them and yes in Europe since you start as a kid you learn all fundamentals you play every position as you grow and that's why these guys today are so skilled while in USA you're all are interested is athleticisam since MJ and with these kids today playing in AAU all friendly and a coach can't tell them nothing specially now with all these social media think they are a stars and its a problem so this are some of the reasons Europeans are the best players in the world Jokic,Luka,Giannis,Wemby now etc..great show guys I butchered this comment but anybody who knows bball will understand me💯🫡

    • @belchmelch
      @belchmelch 25 дней назад

      Tony was more athletic… but Luka carrying more of a power forward build can play bully ball if needed to.
      The fact that MJ & Pippen shut down Tony in the Olympics I feel is one of the reasons he doesn’t get much credit.
      You would think a guy from Europe would start an Academy in the US and market all the European players as a biz

    I agree with intheshell, JS has not only great stories, but never shied away from tough questions. And what a speaking voice. Great guest, wish DP show would have him on more often. Being a fan of the old Bulls team, I'm glad about what John had to say about Tony Kukoc. 6'10, could bring the ball up, great passer and great long ball shooter. But he was the ultimate team player doing what was asked of him on a team with great talent and head coach. Another great interview DP, you are the best.

    He is forgotten. Never mind all the stuff off the court. Guys whose careers ended before the internet age are just overlooked.

    European soccer academies are overrated. They aren't the best thing to educate young soccer players very well, because these players don't develop skills in one on one situations and lack creativity after they left these academies later on. They are well educated in terms of tactics, one touch passing the ball and "playing against the ball" defensively, but offensively they don't bring very much to the table. One touch soccer, long ball possession periods in the game is boring in soccer and doesn't guarantee playing successfully, this style of soccer is cancelled now. Individual skills offensively count. African soccer players are very successful, because they played street soccer from the beginning and they are beasts one on one with huge dribbling skills and learn tactics later on in europe, while european players learn tactics and playing -schemes at first in rhese academies, which leads to lack of creativity, when they enter major leagues.
    Soccer academies don't guarantee success, because dribbling in one on one situations was seen as selfish behaviour, which diminishes the teams chances and dribbling was banned in these academies for years. Today the lack of creativity is recognized and they try to change things now.

    Love Kukoc but that reference was kinda insulting. Kukoc was just a role player in the NBA. That's it. LUKA is Larry Bird and Magic in One! And more clutch than Lebron. ANd when they sweep the Celtics, you can all put him in another category.

    • @blackcat4859
      @blackcat4859 25 дней назад +3

      Then you're missing his point a bit. Because he was playing with Jordan and Pippen his role was a sixth man and a facilitator hence his nickname the waiter. He was awesome in 94 and 95 before Jordan came back as well as in Europe before he came to the NBA. The comparison was more about style of play than saying they are equally great as the main guy on a finals team.
