কলকাতা থেকে একদিনের সফরে ঘুরতে যাওয়ার একটি অন্যতম জায়গা হতে পারে গঙ্গাসাগর । গঙ্গা ও বঙ্গোপসাগরের এই মিলনস্হল সাগরদ্বীপ নামেও পরিচিত । অনন্ত সমুদ্রের প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য উপভোগের পাশাপাশি সারা বছর ভক্তরা এখানে ছুটে আসে পুণ্য অর্জনের জন্যও । এখানে সাগরসঙ্গমে রয়েছে কপিল মুনির মন্দির আশ্রম । যা ভক্তদের কাছে প্রধান আকর্ষণের জায়গা । তবে এই গঙ্গাসাগরে যাওয়াটা একটু জটিল । প্রথমে শিয়ালদহ থেকে কাকদ্বীপ স্টেশন, এরপর সেখান থেকে লট ৮ ফেরিঘাট (হারু পয়েন্ট), এরপর মুরিগঙ্গা নদীর ওপারে কচুবেড়িয়া ফেরিঘাট হয়ে গাঙ্গাসাগর । তাই কলকাতা থেকে দূরত্ব খুব বেশি না হলেও যাতায়াতে অনেকটা সময় লেগে যায় । তবে এখানে থাকারও বেশ কিছু জায়গা আছে । তার মধ্যে ভারত সেবাশ্রম সংঘ, কপিল মুনির মন্দিরের পাশে ধর্মশালা অন্যতম । এছাড়া নানা সরকারি আবাস, রিসোর্ট, কটেজ, হোটেল তো আছেই ।

Gangasagar can be one of the places to visit on one day trip from Kolkata. This confluence of the Ganges and the Bay of Bengal is also known as Sagardwip or Sagar Island.
