    What do you think of AI art? Is it really art?!

    • @mbvoelker8448
      @mbvoelker8448 Год назад +3

      Yes,it's art after it's been filtered through an artist's mind. Just like basing an art piece on a photo.
      But, IMO, that's A misleading question in the first place. We should never be ashamed to be practicing a craft without need of any claim to high art. 🙂

    • @NickSpirov
      @NickSpirov Год назад +2

      Everything a person creates while pursuing beauty IS art, regardless of the tools. They were asking the same question about photography.

      Not when people generate an image, slap their signature on it, and try to sell it as is. The title is clickbait tbh, AI didnt design anything, it gave you a reference image and you made the pattern yourself.

    Wow, that's so amazing! It's really the best stained glass video, because it's an end-to-end process but with all the details 😍 I feel like I wasted time trying to make a stained glass without seeing it 😅
    And, most of all, this piece is just gorgeous. Thank you very much!

    Thank you for making these videos and talking about everything you do and how you and why you do it. I started taking stained class glasses 2 years ago and wanted to see if I really liked it and I still love it! I’ve been collecting the supplies over this past year and will be starting at home soon!

    I always watch your whole videos, sometimes more than once. I really enjoy watching glass being cut, and the whole stained glass process, especially grinding because most people don’t show grinding or they rush through it. I’d like to see more ring saw work. I like your videos because you show the whole process as long as it takes. Once in a while it’s okay but I hate the speeded up parts of the video like it’s not important. I guess I just love stained glass, always have since I first saw it when I was a little kid and your work is beautiful. I like the way you always insist that practice will improve people’s skills and that it isn’t just native talent, that you worked hard to get better. You have a combination of pride in your work and humility in application of your efforts that I admire.

    Regarding heat fractures whilst soldering, you're bang on about the fracture you had coming from an unseen crack or flaw in the glass. Soldering does not cause cracking. Before your solder gets hot enough to crack the glass you'll have problems with it melting through to the other side. Btw I like how you said you're just saying this is how you do it, not how you're telling everyone to do it.

    just so you know, respirators do not filter out fumes. You may be able to buy filters to load into it for fumes. I wear mine too but not protected from fumes

    • @sunbearglasscraft8065
      @sunbearglasscraft8065  Год назад

      I try to emphasize how important proper ventilation is for fumes! From everything I've read, the flux fumes are the worst part of soldering and can lead to asthma or worsening asthma if directly inhaled repeatedly. Having adequate air flow, exhaust fans (like the Hakko FA-400) plus a respirator seems to be very safe soldering practices.

    Hi I think it is art, my understanding is that the A1 produces images that are already based on the thousands of pictures of human art and interaction with humans which it combined to make its own images.
    Really enjoyed watching the whole process , beautiful piece of glass . Thank you

    As someone who comes from electronics soldering, but has never done stained glass, is there a reason I haven't seen stained glass folks use solder sucker or solder wick? Seems like either of those would have helped you remove solder from those thicker blobs.

    Wow. I came here for a simple "how to" basics, and this video was recommended, and I'm blown me away. Do you do commissions? How would a guy get to talk to you about a custom something? I'm going to check your website right now, so standby you have incoming. :) Again, fantastic job. As for AI "art" meh, what it generated isn't, but what you created is. How's that sound? Thanks and type soon.

    It's undoubtedly an incredible tool but when you consider the fact that the sole reason MidJourney, ChatGPT, etc. can produce this kind of work is because it was trained on unlicensed images of others' work -- those who will never be compensated for the financial success of the tools -- it gets very sad. This applies broadly across most tools and most of the training data used, including photography, paintings, graphics, etc.

    • @sunbearglasscraft8065

      Definitely an unfortunate aspect of it. Back when I made this video AI was still weird and sloppy with image production but it has gotten so advanced. I generated a stained glass pattern recently and it very obviously took a painting method Ive seen only one other artist use.
