Lol same here...our headmaster Mr Rogers of Haulgh Board Primary school, Bolton always hoisted a huge gym in sheel up the wall on a rope!...and he would point to the blocks of text as we we sang it. The other hymn was Morning Has Broken. Brilliant days that were far more decent that the mental sickness prevailing society today. THOSE DAYS WERE CLEAN, GOD LOVING, STRICT AND WHOLESOME....PERFECT LIFE.
I was in what was known as middle school. This was my favourite hymn. I used to wiggle. I was told off because we sang it faster which made it more enjoyable. See Jesus wouldn't want us being boring. So now 51 years I sung this since I was 8. He likes the fast energy version. But u change the words. Just saying. Ur about to come up against stuff xx
Remember joyfully singing this in Primary School during Assembly in the 1970's
Glad it brought back a good memory Roger. Check out out other songs to find more!

This became one of my favorite hymns at school and it still is. The words have so much meaning
Glad you enjoyed it Alan!
Same 😊
I used to sing this version at school 50 years ago. I think it’s the best.
This was my baptism hymn back in 1963. I'm now 75 and ask God to help me keep my promise until I see Him face to face 🙏🌈
Thank you for sharing your story and glad that the hymn brought good memories for you.
Amen x
That’s the version I remember🙏🏼 thank you God
I like this version. I promise to serve the Lord, and His promises are sure. Praise God!
Thank you. Haven't heard that soul moving song for 45 years. Thank you. Amen ❤❤

The lyrics are wrong in this version.
Do you have a link to correct lyrics please?
@@spirituallysafeGreat answer. Smell a dissenter here with that comment.
Sorry...these were the exact words we sang in 1973 in the UK. The best version ever!
