I take an F250 and double axle trailer to track days regularly. My FC tows the trailer with the truck on it, and my tyres go in the tray. That way, if I blow a piston ring drifting the FC, I can still drive home and get a good night's sleep before arranging to transport the FC home. Hasn't happened yet though, touch wood.

This is some serious grassroots style car event, amazing. It probably isn't a bad idea for them to have a couple flaggers in the corners but otherwise a fun looking event.
The amount of control these guys have to not hit you is seriously impressive! It sucks to be THAT guy, but it was a mechanical error and you handled it well despite the danger of running on the track ;)
I think it's really cool that one of the cycling sports parks in Japan is being used for motorsports too. Hopefully they do a good job cleaning the surface from all the fluids! 😄
I know this isn't possible unless you have a trailer and the park lets you but how do you think the beans would behave in this kind of track and condition. theoretically speaking.
I do not believe the Rule applies in this particular situation. There is no Martials in the vicinity to do the job you chose to do therefore you literally saved potentially the same crash at the beginning of the video from happening again thus saving many people and the track more money in maintenance and downtime. I believe getting out of the vehicle and waving behind the Barrier was 100% perfectly justified in this particular circumstance.

The amount of intense fear I had watching you just be stuck at that corner is unreal. My transmission just failing is one of my deepest fears while out on American roads.
I had this happened to my BMW E30 at the Nordschleife at a race. It was just a few clamps that were giving up after 30 years. We welded the shifter in place, so that wouldnt happen again. So quite a simple thing, often overlooked, ruined the race, but I am glad it turned out to be a cheap and quick fix. You were very lucky behind that corner. If thats happening to me and I am loosing power, I try to stop at a strait. But its easier said then done in the heat of the moment. You dont have much time to think this through. Glad nothing happened.
I was thinking the same thing about choosing a better spot to stop. He had quite a bit of time but let himself roll deep into the next corner instead of picking a spot with good visibility. As SOON as you realize you don't have power anymore you should switch into disaster-management mode. Hard to do during your first breakdown, but experience should put your focus in the right spot in the future.
It's hard to think when you panic, so it's better to just shift focus to pulling over at the first sign of trouble before losing all momentum. Would've been 10x better to stop at the start of that corner.
Hindsight is 20/20 and all that, but I’ll explain what I was thinking. I thought at first that the circlip that holds in the shifter had popped out, and I’d at least be able to force it into a gear to drive it out. I had an entire box of neutrals, so I stopped as far to the left as I could to give people a chance to spot me as early as possible.
I still wanna see someone do the initial D move where they hook the tires in the drain. Hell I would love to see all the wild things from that shown tested. It might make for an interesting youtube series.

Kinda surprised there is not some sort of rule to breaking down on a course like this. Whether or not laying on the horn should be the unwritten slow down warning rule or even if the place had some sort of warning lights installed.

My favorite map in assetto corsa 😍 I typically time attack it with the nd2 Miata, but it looks crazy awesome to drift those sections!
