    Based on this video you don't have enough trim. You should trim te motor a little bit up so the bow of the boat will be a little higher. This gives you a really comfortabel and economical cruise.

      On my jen 600 sundeck with yamaha f100 i trim the engine almost out of the sea ( not true ) but alot, on top speed. i use less fuel as well cause the engine work easyer.

      Its normal on outboards to trim the motor down in a tight turn to prevent prop cavitation, especially this one. In the onboard footage during the high speed runs, the engine is trimmed up to the max… any more causes a rooster and porpoising. The boat was a bit of a handful with a heavy 100hp four stroke, the hull is more suited to a lighter 2 stroke around 75-90hp.

    I realise this is an old led post and if you still have the boat would you have any pictures of the the back of the boat with the trim tabs as fitted. Lovely boat!

    I have the same fletcher with yamaha 60hp little to low power with 4 person on board, is 100hp yamaha not too heavy for that boat? I cheched it and on the spec is max 90hp or 150kg outboard engine

    • @bubbledraft
      @bubbledraft  7 лет назад +2

      The engine weighs 165KG, so marginally heavier than the recommendation. I fitted Bennett trim tabs, they help hole shot and handling. The 100hp four stroke power to weight ratio is similar to a 90hp 2 stroke, so the power is right for the boat and perfect for pulling up a mono skier.

    What max rpm and speed do you get with 17 propeller? I bought the same engine only efi on 19ft boat but haven't tried it yet.

    • @bubbledraft

      Hi, with a 17p prop in this boat the engine would hit the rev limiter (about 6000rpm) and max out at 43-44 mph. But the 17p was a good prop for watersports, towing skiers and toys etc. I never did try a 19 pitch in my boat, but I think that would've pulled nearly as well and kept the engine off the limiter. For your 19 footer a 17 pitch would be ok, or maybe a 19p for a little more top speed. I guess it depends on what you want to use the boat for.

      @@Drapp84 Ah OK, a 100hp four stroke on will probably (definitely) be too heavy for a 14’ boat like this. The boat you see here is a Fletcher 15’ and the manufacturer recommended 75hp two stroke, which is about 40kg lighter than a four stroke 100. I needed to put Smart Tabs on this boat to prevent chine walking, which something that should be avoided if you scare easily.

    Top speed?

    • @bubbledraft

      48mph with a 21p prop, but we used a 17p most of the time for skiing behind.

      bubbledraft how heavy is the bait and is the 100hp a powerful engine for skiing

    • @bubbledraft
      @bubbledraft  6 лет назад +2

      Yes 100hp 4stroke is more than enough for skiing and watersports with 17p prop. The boat and engine combined weight is around 575kg. Alternatively this size boat will easily pull up a skier with 75hp or 90hp 2 stroke. I found the power was fine with the Yamaha... very smooth, economical and quiet. The Yamaha engine is heavier than a 2 stroke engine normally fitted to this type of boat. I eventually fitted smart tabs on the boat which helped the boat handle better in rough water and improved hole shot.
