Fun fact: *Micheal Bay directed the first "Got Milk" commercial*
That should have been my pick. That's a LEGENDARY milk commercial which taught a bunch of a piece of history
Hey Sean his best work counts on movies have you also seen the island wich actually had a real plot and charachters to root for also haven’t critics and other film viewers praised some of his work before and also stating how he understands restraint and how to cohesively stage action so you can tell what’s going on and making neat scenes.
@SeanChandlerTalksAbout he also directed a lot of Meatloaf music videos, including I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That!)
I get it but that was back in his early career still I can only Identifie is best by movies not by commercials like when I talk of Michael bay being part of the industry of films we need to discuss how talented he is at making movies.
His past as a commercial director is the reason why his movies are loaded with product placement
I would like to see a vid about the WORST performances from the BEST actors and the BEST performances from the WORST actors
I second this
I third this
I fourth this
I fourth this
I fifth this
For Michael Bay, i personally would include Ambulance. That film came out in 2022, had a 40 Million Dollar Budget, yet it looks like a big 90s Blockbuster!! That movie is criminally underrated, and surprisingly it didn't deserve to flop.
Hell no thats top 3 worst for him
I loved that one.
@@jeffcunningham0389Nonstop action. I dug it.
That Movie made me physically ill. Seriously.
Garbage movie. It's simply an excuse for Bay to show off his drone lol.
Hot take: Michael Bay is actually good at directing. I think it's pretty impressive how well he integrates real actors with CGI characters (in the better Transformer movies that is). His problem are his plots, he shouldn't be let anywhere near the writer's room.
he 🔥🔥🔥
This isn’t a hot take shouldn’t there be enough who think Michael bay directs well at least when he gets the right material and script. Not all his films have weak story and plot didn’t the island, transformers, 13 hours and the rock have coherent plotting.
Nah his work on Transformers progressively got worse. (With exception of Dark of the Moon)
By The Last Knight it seemed like he completely gave up.
The camera work was wierd. The action was unintelligible.
And the constantly changing aspect ratio literally gave me a headache.
That’s true but what I am saying is outside of those films he can make a film with an actual coherent story.
Plus when I included transformers I meant the first from 2007.
Shyamalan deserves to be here, and also does not deserve to be here. Kind of depends on the era.
Phase 0:
Praying With Anger
Wide Awake
Pre-career, basically. Like most people I have not seen these.
Phase 1 (The Peak):
The Sixth Sense
Unbreakable
Signs
Peak era, obviously. The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable are both masterpieces. Signs is mostly beloved until it gets to the ending, which is not nearly as egregious as many claim.
Phase 2 (Decline):
The Village
Lady in the Water
The Happening
This era saw a decline occur over the course of three films. The Visit was polarizing (I like it, but many hate it), Lady in the Water just made people ask "WTF?", and The Happening was shockingly bad for someone who previously felt like a visionary auteur, even when he missed the mark.
Phase 3 (Death):
The Last Airbender
After Earth
I never saw these because they aren't really Shyamalan films. None of his identity is in them. Blockbuster films were clearly not for him. After Earth, especially, was known as a job he took because he was desperate at that time. At this point, Shyamalan went from being declared the next Spielberg, to being a laughingstock. It seemed like his career was dead.
Phase 4 (Rebirth):
The Visit
Split
This is the era where Shyamalan clawed his way back into the Hollywood mainstream, after his career basically died. He got his next movie, The Visit, out by going ultra-low budget and financing it himself. He saw himself stripping down to the key ingredients of a good Shyamalan film, and this back to basics approach made people cautiously optimistic. This was followed by Split, a huge hit that most people loved, and was seen as something mostly on par with his peak era work. Shyamalan was back!
Phase 5 (Respect):
Glass
Old
A Knock at the Cabin
I labeled this era as respect, because it seems Shyamalan has accepted his place in Hollywood, as the guy keeping unique, mid-budget films alive in theaters, and most people seem to respect him for it, whether his films hit or miss. Indeed, the films of this era are mostly neither revered nor despised (Glass and Old had a mixed reception, and A Knock at the Cabin had a mostly positive reception). Trap has the best buzz around it that we have seen since Split, so we will have to see where it falls.
The Rock is Phenomenal. Michael Bay is way underrated.
One of my favourite movies.
There is some part of the critics community that doesnt hate Michael bay films and likes some of them. Right especially back in the mid 90s when he began his career did critics like him them.
Michael Bay doesn’t make alot of good movies, but they are fun movies unlike other bad directors like Snyder’s catalog
Michael Bay is not an underrated director.
He was one of the biggest director of the 2000s.
The problem with Bay is that he progressively got worse.
It's like he just stopped caring.
The constantly changing aspect ratios in The Last Knight is when I just gave up on him.
I literally had vertigo and a headache because of that movie.
Micheal Bay is one of the worst directors
1. M. Night Shyamalan (Sixth Sense, Eastrail 177 Trilogy, Signs, Knock at the Cabin, The Village)
2. The Wachowskis (The Matrix, Bound, Cloud Atlas, Speed Racer)
3. Zack Snyder (His DC films, 300, Dawn of the Dead, Sucker Punch)
4. Michael Bay (Bad Boys duology, The Rock, Ambulance, Transformers 1&3)
5. JJ Abrams (Star Trek, Super 8, Mission: Impossible 3, Star Wars: The Force Awakens)
6. Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Stargate, The Patriot, Midway)
7. Paul WS Anderson (Event Horizon, Mortal Kombat, Alien vs Predator)
Emmerich also did White House down, and his end of the world films 2012 and day after tommorow weren’t bad
What about Unbreakable? I reckon it borders on being a masterpiece!
I'm glad you picked the Village (2004) bc I luuuuuv that film. I would add the first two Resident Evil movies for Paul WS Anderson and Star Wars: The Force Awakens for JJ Abrams personally
@@Sharken-ob9gu The Eastrail 177 trilogy covers Unbreakable, Split and Glass (which I happen to be among the few that genuinely enjoys it).
@@a7000zo Ahh, okay! Unbreakable is near a masterpiece in my eyes!
I also think that "The Village" from Shyamalan is a really good movie. As someone who doesn't even care for horror movies that much, the score, the cinematography, and the overall direction on Shyamalan's part in the film help to make it really special.
Out the gate, I was hoping for The Rock picked for Bay and I was not disappointed. What a fun classic. I also love the idea that it in theory, it could be a send off for the Connery James Bond. When you put it in that perspective that it is possibly the same guy, that movie only gets better
Always rubs me the wrong way how much hate M Night gets, he has some bangers!! Signs & The Village are 2 of my favourites films ever
Michael Bay: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
M. Night Shyamalan: Unbreakable
The Wachowskis: The Matrix
Roland Emmerich: Independence Day
Paul WS Anderson: Pompeii
JJ Abrams: Mission Impossible 3
Zack Snyder: 300
Transformers 2 is not among bay’s best at all that was a mess and a perfect example of mass destruction obsession over story or charachter.
Here are some ideas:
- Best movie of your least favorite actors
- Worst film from your favorite actors
- Best soundtracks from the best composers
- Best and worst villain from each phase of the MCU
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I almost feel like M. Night Shyamalan tends to get over-hated sometimes. He seems to be more polarizing than anything. To some, he’s a talented director who takes huge risks and hits major home runs when he succeeds, yet can also miss spectacularly. Yet to others, he’s a talentless hack who got lucky to have the success he did early on, and only occasionally makes otherwise decent stuff. That latter camp especially seems focused on his flop period in the late ‘00’s and early 2010’s, with movies like The Happening, Last Airbender, and After Earth (which seemed to be more of a Smith family thing, and he was more a director for hire on).
For me, I’m at least always interested to see what he’ll do next. I’m happy when his films turn out well, and kinda bummed when they don’t. I wish him the best, in any case.
I feel like it's somewhere in between those two. He is definitely talented, you don't just get lucky when you can make movies like The Sixth Sense or Unbreakable. But it is true that most of the time he misses rather than hits, so...
Dude always swings for the fences, for sure. He never just does a movie for a paycheck, except for during his directionless "blockbuster" phase, where he lost his Identity, and which his fans try to forget ever happened. Outside of that era, he has always been an excellent visual director, and usually gets great performances from his actors, too. His writing is where he is wildly inconsistent, and he often struggles with endings especially.
I will note that he was wrongfully stereotyped as a "twist ending" director. Let's look at his filmography, and their endings:
Wide Awake - normal
Sixth Sense - twist
Unbreakable - twist
Signs - reveal (it is a big reveal ending, but wrongfully labeled as a twist)
Village - multiple twists (this movie really did him no favors in avoiding the stereotype)
Lady in the Water - WTF (weird ass ending, but not a twist in any way)
Happening - no ending (the movie just kind of stops)
Last Airbender - normal
After Earth - normal
Visit - normal (there is a major twist, but it occurs before the climax, not at the ending)
Split - normal (however, the epilogue is a big reveal/twist)
Glass - multiple reveals & twists
Old - reveal (some may see it as a twist, but we know early on they are being watched, making the ending a big reveal, not a twist)
A Knock at the Cabin - normal (the whole movie asks a question leading to an eventual answer, so definitely not a twist)
14 Movies Total
Twist Endings: 4
Reveal Endings: 2
Weird Endings: 1
No Ending: 1
Normal Endings: 6
Out of 14 films, only 4 of them are twist Endings (5 if you count the epilogue to Split), with one movie (The Visit) that includes a big twist, but not as part of the ending.
Same. He directed some of my favorite films (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, and I even like the Village), but also one of the worst films I've ever seen which, as an adaptation, is offensive (The Last Airbender). By the time I got around to watching The Happening, which I expected to be near unwatchable, I thought it was surprisingly entertaining--I think he meant for it to be absurdist, but that somehow that got lost in its reception. Same with his more recent films, though some work better than others. I do still follow his work, even when it's mediocre.
Michael Bay - Transformers: DOTM
Roland Emmerich - White House Down is the only film of his I've seen
M. Night Shyamalan - Split
The Wachowskis - The Matrix
J.J. Abrams - Star Wars Episode 7
Paul W.S. Anderson -The Revenant
Zack Snyder- Justice League 2021
Watch emmerichs other films
Except, "The Revenant" wasn't directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. At least I can't find anything close to that title in his IMDb filmography.
Michael Bay is a good director, fight me.
There is nothing wrong with thinking Michael bay is a good director since he has plenty of good films.
That sounds exactly like something Michael Bay would say on a burner account😂
What time works for you? Lol
@@carsonpeterson758I count 5
Name time and place
Michael Bay and Zach Synder are my 2 favorite directors. The first 3 Transformers movies is my favorite trilogy of all time and Dark of the Moon is my favorite movie. I will defend the 2nd one with my life. I love the twins and they were not racist and don’t get me started on how much I love the DC Synderverse. BATFLECK is my favorite Batman and BVS is the most misunderstood/underrated comic movie ever
The Wachowskis made an amazing tv show in Sense8.
Michael Bay-Transformers 1
Roland Emerich-Independence Day
M. Night Shymalan-The Sixth Sense
JJ Abrams-Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Rian Johnson-Looper
Zack Snyder-Man of Steel
For JJ, I would say Super 8 is his best. That’s like a prototype to Stranger Things and it’s actually pretty good imo. Mission Impossible 3 too. I don’t think I like any of his other films personally lmaoo
Good picks for the rest 🔥
Rian Johnson is a really good director. Outside of Star Wars all his movies have been great
That director is not mainstream he hasn’t made many films he’s no Spielberg.
Super 8 is a much better movie than The Force Awakens, but otherwise, good list!
Bay - the rock
M night - unbreakable
JJ - star trek
Zack is an amazing director and his DC trilogy is the best we've gotten from the cbm genre
Amazing? Have you seen the Rebel Moon movies???
@@vincentjames7210Wait until he release his Snyder cut
@@vincentjames7210Beside, every director has their own flop, even the greatest. Just look at Spielberg's 1941 film or Cameron's Piranha 2
@@ChucNguyen-yb4bq because Snyder is totally on the level of Spielberg and James Cameron lmao
I was so nervous when I heard that "Midway (2019)" was going to be directed by Roland Emmerich. I was relieved when I saw the movie; it appeared that he was actually taking this project seriously. It definitely had flaws, but I thought it was a pretty good tribute to the soldiers who fought in the battle.
Snyder and Shaymalyn do not belong on this list.
Neither does bay or emmerich.
People kept commenting on the polls so I guess blame the people
Even the worst director have a golden boy
No the worst director who is uwe boll never made a goood movie and considering he is not a director even involved with the Hollywood and film establishment of trying to make films of impressing viewers.
@@carsonpeterson758erm hey this is Uwe Boll you have to box me now
Uwe Boll, name his golden boy. Worst director of all time.
Michael Bay - The Rock-As a Michael Bay defender, this is safely my favorite of his films because of its awesome cast, goofy premise, world building, and great Bayhem from beginning to end
Roland Emmerich - Independence Day-An incredibly rewatchable Taco Bell favorite of mine with great practical effects, a splendid cast, tone-deaf but really funny humor, and a celebration for the independence for the United States
M. Night Shyamalan - Unbreakable-An incredibly powerful and profound exploration of finding your potential with fantastic which makes for one of my Top 10 Favorite Movies of All Time
Lily & Lana Wachowski - The Matrix-Watching this movie in the theaters several weeks ago, I still love this movie for its blending of hero’s journey mythology, fantastic world building, Anime aesthetics, and great
Paul W.S. Anderson - Event Horizon- This isn’t a very high bar, but still, I find this to be an enjoyable space horror thriller type film that has well done effects, actors I like seeing on screen, and a Hellraiser in space type aesthetic all throughout
JJ Abrams - Star Trek 2009-Even though I’m a more casual Star Trek fan, I absolutely think this movie holds up pretty well fifteen years later because it’s an origin story for Kirk, which I think works as a solid story to tell
Zack Snyder - Zack Snyder’s Justice League-An amazing comic book film that has great character arcs, solid Snyder action, complex but incredibly satisfying storytelling, a massive scale, and fantastic world building, all making for a superhero epic that’s absolutely deserving of the Justice League title
What was your top 10 again? Also great and respectable takes all around
@@NinthShinigami For what I’m feeling today, here’s what my favorites would be:
10. Scream
9. Spider-Man 2
8. Groundhog Day
7. Unbreakable
6. The Dark Knight
5. Die Hard
4. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
3. Rocky
2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
1. Back to the Future
However, if you ask me tomorrow, numbers five through ten could be in different spots.
@@MichaelTomsyck lol I feel that, I have a top 100 and even there I struggle and often am updating the list 😂 and that’s a great top 10. My top 10 has largely remained unchanged tho, minus for like two movies I think, one of them was Across The Spider Verse but I already had Into in there. So is it really much of a change? Besides I’d have both soo 😂
What are your ideas for future "Best of the Worst" or "Worst of the Best" videos?
Do franchises or Trilogies
The Worst Movies from the Best Franchises
The Best Movies From the Worst Franchises
Worst characters of the best franchises like Star Wars, and the MCU
The worst movies from the best actors and actresses!
Worst of the best animated studios, and vice versa. Disney, Pixar, Ghibli, Dreamworks, Aardmann, Laika, Sony Animation, Illumination, Blue Sky, etc 🔥
I will defend and enjoy Transformers and Dark of The Moon til the day I’m no longer here 🔥
Dark of the Moon is ultimate Bayhem
The first transformers was the only good and also because it was the one critics actually liked
@@carsonpeterson758 isn’t it nice having opinions :)
Kind of but it depends on the majority because bay doesn’t make the same movies some have not made as much money as others and also some have gotten better critic reviews and they at least consider him a better director than those crappy z grade movie directors like uwe boll, Renny Harlin, Ed wood or the team of friedberg/seltzer as much as the stories in his films can be lackluster they should at least admit of him getting the quality of the cinematography, action set pieces, CGI/special effects and production values right right.
I like the first Transformers fine, but my relationship with Dark of the Moon is a weird one. I enjoy the last hour of the film, but the first hour and a half is a bit of a chore for me to get through, personally.
Fun fact: My parents were actually in Chicago when DOTM was being filmed! 😂
I really like J.J Abram’s. Force Awakens was awesome. Didn’t love rise of skywalker but really like J.J
My Top 5
1. Behind Enemy Lines (2001) by John Moore
2. Unbreakable (2000) by M Night Shyamalan
3. Pineapple Express (2008) by David Gordon Green
4. Even Horizon (1997) by Paul WS Anderson
5. Pet Sematary (1989) by Mary Lambert
I appreciate how you approached this video by saying the internet hates some of these directors, I can’t stand how the internet thinks JJ Abrams is a bad director even though he’s really only made 1 not so great film
My list
Micheal Bay: Bad Boys 1&2, The Island, Transformers 2007 & Dark of The Moon (I still stand by that both are absolute bangers), Pain & Gain and 13 Hours
Roland Emmerich: Independence Day
M Night Shyamalan: Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Split
Paul WS Anderson: Event Horizon and Death Race
JJ Abrams: Mission Impossible 3 and Super 8
Zack Snyder: Dawn of The Dead, 300, Watchmen, Man Of Steel and Zack Snyder Justice League
Roland Emmerich's The Patriot is awesome as well!
Paul Anderson never made a good movie. He is almost uwe boll level bad considering his films are also video game adaptations.
Respectable list, but Mortal Kombat over Event Horizon? Criminal.. lol
Cool topic
Armageddon
The patriot
Signs
Idk (I've never seen the matrix)
Alien vs Predator
The Force Awakens
(tie) Watchmen/Batman v Superman
Watch Matrix. It's really good. Do yourself a favor. Do not watch anything outside the first one.

Two video ideas: Great actors in bad movies or bad actors in great movies
I was pretty shocked when M Night was included on the list. Sure he doesn’t have a perfect track record, but neither does Steven Spielberg. I really think the internet has been too harsh on him.
Edit: However, I really like The Happening so what do I know? 😅
I love the happening. It's like the perfect comedy. Marky Mark as a science teacher, so funny.
That movie is a bizzare mess lol it’s terrible and a tie with the last airbender as shyamalans very worst movie.
@@carsonpeterson758 Yeah it can be really over the top at times, but I think it’s a fascinating concept of, what if the allergens in the air were powerful enough to kill us, and it has some characters that I genuinely care about. So I think it’s far from being the worst film he’s ever made.
Where is Uwe Boll?
You should do best actors worst and worst actors best. There are great options for segments out there. I’d love to see how you’d do actors.
JJ Abrams: I hate him with a passion, but I enjoyed Star Trek 2009 and that was the last thing in the Star Trek franchise that I thought was really good.
Michael Bay: he directed The Rock, and that movie is awesome. His career is great because of that alone.
Roland Emmerich: The Patriot is a great movie and that would be my pick. His Midway remake was actually pretty good. I used to love Independence Day as a kid but that has aged like milk.
M Night: I've to go with Unbreakable but he has a few great movies like Sean said.
The Wachowskis brothers: Of course, The Matrix, it should've been one and done but that first movie took over pop culture. I will say they're two hit wonders because Bound was a great little crime drama.
Paul W.S. Anderson: Event Horizon is a well-done science fiction horror.
Zack Snyder: I like several of his movies, but I think his Dawn of the Dead remake was really strong. His blockbuster movies can be good at times but they're so loud and CGI heavy. I wish he would get away from the blockbusters and maybe even do horror again.
Emmerich did stargate and universal soldier and volcano those were really good almost any of his 90s films were good he was the embodiment for Hollywood at its best.
@@carsonpeterson758, Emmerich didn't do "Volcano," Sport.
0:00 - Snyder
1:29 - bay
6:18 - m night
13:43 - jj Abrams
16:49 - Snyder
Great list! Michael Bay's Ambulance is a really good movie.
Some of Michael bay movies have to have an actual plot bad boys the rock and con air had coherent storytelling that made sense right plus his films have entertaining charachters so he understands charachterisations well.
Please do a part 2
Best performances from worst actors / Worst performances from best actors ❤
Interesting premise for a video that I like…but I feel like all of these choices were pretty easy because a lot of these “bad” directors were known a small handful of really good movies. So I dunno, I’d be more interested if this video was the same but with the obvious choices knocked down. Either way, nice video Sean.
Emmerich-Patriot, Wachowskis-Speed Racer, and Abrams-Super 8 would be my picks for their respective directors. They all feel a little more personal and heartfelt compared to their most popular movies respectively.
I was like number 200
M. Night: Signs
Michael Bay: Transformers 1
The Wachoski Brothers: Matrix
Zack Snyder: ZS Justice League
JJ Abrams: Force Awakens
You know Brett ratner could be on the list and rush hour would be his best but I don’t think he is a bad director
Dude said the matrix reloaded was a disappointment 😂😂
Michael Bay - Armageddon
Roland Emerich - Godzilla
M. Night Shymalan - Split
JJ Abrams - Super 8
Rian Johnson - Knives Out/ Ozymandias BrBa episode
Zach Snyder - Watchmen
The Wachowski - The Matrix
Paul WS Anderson - Resident Evil
(I honestly love the first RE film.)
Rian Johnson only made 1 bad film. He's far from the "worst" director.
Actually, a film by Paul W. S. Anderson that shines, his only best movie is “Event Horizon” (1997); “Mortal Kombat” (1995) is guilty pleasure fun.
Here’s other good movies by bad directors:
“Red Dragon” (2002) by Brett Ratner
“Happy Gilmore” (1996) by Dennis Dugan
I am so glad to hear you sat that Unbreakable was your favorite Shyamalan film (Split is one of my favorite ones as well, but that is due to McAvoy's acting). The Wachowskis.....made one of my top ten films ever (The Matrix) and then ruined that with the last film in the trilogy (I feel that their best films however, next to The Matrix, was Bound....just sayin'), Emmerich's films are amazing to look at.....and not much else, excellent choice for him, and great shout out to The Patriot. NOT a fan of Paul WS Anderson.....at all, but I think that Event Horizon is his best film, of his that I saw. Yes, yes, and yes on Star Trek from JJ Abrams
I really liked Roland Emmerich's movie Midway. Doing a war film was different than his usual stop a disaster movies.
Of these directors, Michael Bay is definitely the one I enjoy most. Man delivers on action, and I love Transformers 1 and 3, as well as Bad Boys, the two he worked on. The Rock is another great one. M. Night’s Unbreakable is amazing and prob the best movie of any of these directors listed imo. Snyder or Abrams are probably my least favorite of these listed…
Respect. By the way there is a channel that does anime news. It's name is Nero Megaman. You should check it out. It's like Fornevernews
Bay and emmerich are alike.
Mostly agree with your choices, but some subtle differences:
Michael Bay: I agree with The Rock, but have a soft spot for Armageddon and the first Transformers.
Roland Emmerich: Agree with Independence Day, but soft spots for Stargate and the Patriot.
M Night: Sixth Sense is his best, but Unbreakable and Signs (until the ending) are also great.
Paul WS Anderson: Event Horizon. No contest. That movie messed me up.
Wachowskis: Can't go past the Matrix, but I think Bound is also brilliant.
JJ Abrams: Either Star Trek or Force Awakens, although Super 8 is worth watching as a 'Stranger things before Stranger things'.
Zach Snyder: Watchmen (the extended cut - minus Black Freighter parts).
Michael bay - Bad boys
Roland emmerich - Independence Day
M Night Shyamalan - Sixth sense
Wachowskis - Matrix
J.J Abrahams - Super 8
Paul WS Anderson - Event Horizon
Zack Snyder - Dawn of the Dead
He really did answer that slow mo question with that answer 😭😂
Michael Bay is a popcorn filmmaker. Not trying to make award worthy content, simply big slam-bang movies.

• Michael Bay (one of my favorite directors, I watch a Bayhem flick and get thrice as much intellectual stimulation out of it as a Lars Von Trier film)- Bad Boys II
• Rolland Emmirrich (bad director)- ID4
• M. Night (great director)- Signs
• Wlachowskis (good directors)- Matrix but don't sleep on Speed Racer

The Rock and Independence Day are classics, but personally I think Bay and Emmerich's best movies are 13 Hours and Midway.
Here are my picks for directors I've seen multiple projects.
Michael Bay- Between Bad Boys or Transformers 2007
Roland Emmerich- Independence Day
JJ Abrams- Between Mission Impossible 3, Star Trek 2009, and Star Trek Into Darkness
Zack Snyder- Man of Steel
The Rock is a great film, it gets surprisingly low attention
No it doesn’t it’s a popular action film and back in the 90s it was widely praised as a groundbreaking achievement in action films.
I think J.J. Abrams movie Super 8 is an underrated films and it's actually one of my favorites
In my opinion, there are no bad directors. There are just directors with different creative and stylistic visions, and it’s really up to opinion.
There are some uwe boll Ed wood and friedberg/seltzer are the worst.
Michael Bay: The Island, an incredibly underrated film in general and is such a fantastic film regardless of who directed it. Love The Rock and the first two Bad Boys as well.
Roland Emmerich: Stargate is my favorite(Kurt Russell is one of my top 5 all time actors) and is a rollicking good time.
M. Night: Completely agree, Sean i LOVE Unbreakable. One of my all time favorite films. Understated and restrained but very beautiful and impactful too.
The Wachowski brothers: The Matrix is the only real choice, but i am gonna be honest, i really enjoyed Speed Racer too for a good time.
Paul W.S. Anderson: Definitely Mortal Kombat. Such a fun time with a soundtrack that absolutely slaps!
J.J. Abrams: Man, this guy fell so hard from grace. Alias and Lost are two of my all time favorite shows that i still love watching today. I actually liked both of his two Star Trek movies and The Force Awakens(even though it started things off horribly from a SW lore perspective, it is still a hoot to watch). But Mission Impossible 3 is my pick, easily! Still one of the best MI films today and matches up with the newer entries handily, imo. I really enjoyed Super 8 a lot too.
Zach Snyder: The only choice is Dawn of the Dead. A truly good, enjoyable film and i am not even much of a zombie junkie. That was before all of his movies became washed out, brown, slo mo messes. I really did enjoy 300 and Watchmen too.
I got a question if I made a script, would it be possible for you to review it? And give me feedback on it
Michael Bay - Ambulance
Roland Emmerich - Independence Day
M. Night Shyamalan - Signs
Wachowskis - The Matrix
JJ Abrams - Mission: Impossible III
Zack Snyder - Zack Snyder’s Justice League
Idea for a video - worst episodes of your favorite TV shows.
Bay - Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Emmerich - The Patriot, Independence Day and Stargate
Shyamalan - Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense, and The Village (yes i will defend that movie til I die)
Wachoskis - The Matrix and Bound
Anderson - Mortal Kombat
Abrams - Super 8 and Mission Impossible 3
Snyder - Dawn of the Dead
I think rob zombie could've been in this list, not that his work is awful, but since this is about Interesting directors who got a lot of hate for their art for whatever reason
I'm surprised Brett Ratner didn't get any hate? He was who I was thinking about the entire time I was watching this video.
JJ Abrams is part of the worst directors? 😂 What is the internet thinking? I can understand Michael Bay. I think Robert Rodriguez is worse! I will go with my favorites from them over best…
Favorite Michael Bay
Ambulance (highest on RT 🍅)
Favorite Roland Emmerich
Independence Day
Favorite M. Night Shyamalan
The Sixth Sense
^ I can understand Unbreakable being the other answer.
Favorite Wachowskis
The Matrix
Favorite Paul Anderson
Boogie Nights
Oops, it’s Paul *W.S.* Anderson. Yeah, he’s a bad director. I guess Mortal Kombat from 1995 when I was in 9th grade but I actually think The Three Musketeers (2011) is underrated. It’s fun. His wife, Milla Jovovich who was in it, defended it.
Favorite JJ Abrams
Star Trek (2009)
OMG thank you for saying Unbreakable. That movie is absolutely special.
Michael Bay’s best movie for me was 13 Hours- Oscar nominee and an experience for the 2 1/2 hours it is.
Zach Snyder - 300
Good movies ruined by the X
So movies you think are or would have been good but were ruined by bad acting, editing, directing, producing, etc.
And the vice versa: bad movies saved by the x
I personally will defend Pain and gain by Michael Bay as being his best film.
For such a distinct director,i think he really touched on something unique in this film.
Here are my picks:
Michael Bay: Ambulance
Roland Emmerich: Midway
M Night Shyamalan: The Sixth Sense
The Wachowskis: The Matrix
Wes Anderson: Mortal Kombat
JJ Abrams (i don't think he's a bad director. I personally believe that he wasn't at fault for the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, but i'll tell you my pic.) Super 8.
The room so bad it's hilarious
I think Abrams is a better director than he is a writer. I think Rise of Skywalker has an absolutely unearned, disjointed mess of a screenplay, but much of the direction in it is downright Spielbergian. Super 8 is the same. I didn't care about the boy in Super 8, but the ending left me in tears and goosebumps from the audio/visual execution alone.
Never ask the internet for the worst of anything they will be more than happy to tell you. People on the internet can't wait to spread as much negativity as possible as fast as possible
I'm really excited for M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming movie "Trap"
To me, Roland Emmerich just makes the ultimate comfort movies.
Michael Bay - Pearl Harbor
Roland Emmerich -2012
M. Night Shyamalam - 6th sense
Wachosky sisters - Matrix but I don't even like that movie sorry 😂
Paul WS Anderson - Ehmmmm.... Ahem..... I mean.... One of the Resident Evil movies? I don't know
JJ Abrams - Star Trek Into Darkness
Zack Snyder - Man of Steel
I thought Michael Bay did a pretty good job with "13 Hours: the Secret Soldiers of Benghazi."
100% agree with the rock!
Wide Awake is an underrated early Shyamalan film
Dude, Event Horizon is Paul Anderson's best film!!
Totally agree with your take on JJ Abrams, also love Star Trek from 2009
In regards to snyder, he does have a distinct style which is commendable but he's in the business of making movies and if he can't handle some of the basics of movie making then his overall talent needs to be questioned. Like I'm sure alot of us would have interesting ideas and styles but chances are those movies wouldn't be very good. And that's the reason we're not directors
I find it funny that several of these picks for Worst Director are actually fairly similar to one another:
Michael Bay
Roland Emmerich
Paul W.S. Anderson
Zack Snyder
All of those directors are known for their bombastic visual style.
But they tend to surround themselves with the worst writers!
Michael Bay has 2 movies in the Criterion Colection… just saying..
Most of his good films outside of the rock are not in criterion since Armageddon got negative reviews and was cringe inducing.
@@carsonpeterson758 I remember times before Transformers sequels. He was the golden boy. His movies were hits and he was not hated but admired. Movie magazines were filled wit his profiles. I remember 8/10 and 9/10 reviews for Armageddon.Lots of people ranked him as one of the best. Even Christopher Nolan is Michael Bay's fan. After Transformers sequels it became cool to hate him.
lol actually did here articles of trolling on bay back when he did Armageddon critics called it noisy, sloppy and incoherent and that it felt like an advertisement due to its poor editing.
@@carsonpeterson758, then why is "Armageddon" one of Bay's two Criterion titles?
I actually think J.J. Abram’s Star Trek movies are perfect.
Because of that I picked him to direct Star Wars by choice. Seemed like a dream come true.
Hated the decisions made on Star wars
Two directors I miss on this list:
Quentin Tarantino
Ridley Scott
A lot of these people have the misfortune of being competent to great directors but TERRIBLE writers, with the exception of maybe M. Night Shyamalan (Never stop writing Shyamalan).
Larry & Andy Wachawski's best movie was Bound! Bay's best was the first Transformers. JJ Abrams best was MI3 and Star Trek. As for Zack Synder...BvS ultimate edition and Justice League (4hr version).
Man I Love Speed Racer. That would be my pick. I had no idea it was made by the Matrix People. Neet
Event Horizon by Paul WS is really good sci-fi horror
I agree with all your picks, I would only switch out Independence Day for The Patriot
Mortal Kombat is clearly not better than Event Horizon
Zack Snyder should take notes from M. Night Shyamalan and finance his own films. Complete creative control and low risk/high reward scenarios. I'd love to see him do a film that has little to no dialog.
Also, if JJ Abrams was on this list, I'd have thought Rian Johnson would make it as well. Not because o think he's bad, but because of how hated The Last Jedi is.
Also also, no Uwe Boll? Or is he just too bad?
