Edward Witten, one of the brightest mathematicians said consciousness will ever remain a mystery. I myself heard a great saint saying : „A dual mind is half blind.“
So I think science we will only solve the easy problems…..
Thxs and best regards from Vienna.

We already have time markers on veridical out of body/near death experiences. We have stacks of them but because we don't yet have one in a prospective study (that is with a clear sighting of the hidden image) science is allowed to officially disregard them. That doesn't mean science is being wise, though, in doing that, it isn't; this is really happening for sure.

Brilliant conversation - thank you Alex and Christof. So refreshing to hear a scientist who has had a largely physicalist research career, with an open mind in terms of wider ideas about the nature of consciousness.

Our brains are quantum computers, they compute, they do not create consciousness or mind. These are independent as electricity is from the lamp.

"People fall too much in love with their own ideas." -- Christof Koch.
I loved this interview. Christof models rigorous scientific thinking in a field in which rigor is scarce.

If Consciousness is God. How do you solve God?

Around 14 minutes in Christoff refers to scientist and philosopher Bernardo Kastrup and his particular form of idealism …
    “analytical idealism”.
