It is wonderful that your mom paid her respects to your departed community members. Quick story: we in East Kentucky bring food to funerals. I went to a coworkers dad's funeral in North Carolina... and brought a vegetable tray. I was gobsmacked to find out that most funeral homes don't have dedicated kitchens for each family. But our funerals last a whole weekend. Visitation on Friday night, all day Saturday, service on Sunday morning, burial around 11am.
I'm in my 60s, and was raised hearing Ray Stevens' songs. Lol. Watching you crack up laughing after seeing this video, cracked ME up! 😂 Thx also for sharing your childhood story about funerals. Lol.
I remember my family sitting up with my oldest brother died from drowning in river. All the out of town relatives sitting up with my parents, brothers coffin in living room. Sad time, Just the way things used to be.
@@virginiahopkins5735 I'm that sorry! I know exactly what it's like to lose a brother. No matter how many decades have passed, there's always times when I get excited about something and want to tell my brother, and then it hits hard all over again Much love to you!
I grew up on Ray Stephens! Try Guitarzan, Osama Yo Mama, It’s Me Again Margret, Mississippi Squirrel Revival, Shriner’s Convention, The Streak. He got his start as a gospel singer. His rendition of Everything’s Beautiful is awesome.
You need to react to a video called Along Came Jones. The one from the Andy Williams Show is absolutely hysterical. It’s a Ray Stevens song so you got Ray Stevens, Andy Williams, and Danny Thomas all playing different roles in the song. It is hilarious.
There won't be a video for it (I don't think), because it's an old one, but Shriner's Convention is one of my all-time favorites. It would be wise to grab a copy of the lyrics because he packs a LOT into that song. "Southern Air", also no video, is hilarious but it features two southern comedians - Jerry Clower and Minnie Pearl - and it is funniest if you are familiar with their comedy as well as the complete works of Ray Stevens because he throws in a LOT of references to other songs and characters.
@@katrinaprescott5911 Yeah he has gone back and done videos for a lot of his old songs. He often leaves comments on video reactions to his songs as well. He is just a great guy all around.
Back in 1950s and 1960s in deep south common far dead to be carried back to their home far visitation far around 2 to 3 days before funeral, family did sit up with the dead during this time.
Lol my friend used to work at a morgue he said the people that would go pick the dead up and bring them in to the city morgue well the person was in the body bag he turned around to fill out a toe tag when he heard something behind him he turned around and saw the dead guy sitting up he said he ran out of the room past the other workers out the door past his car and ran all the way home the next day he called his boss up told him what happened he said Iam coming to get my car you can meet me out side I will give you the keys to the building I quit you can send me my last check in the mail needless to say he doesn't do anything that deals with death
For whatever reason, as a kid watching this, it scared the crap out of me! 🤣🤣
Please let me know I am not the only one! Lol
Thank you, thank you. Next should be his I'm My Own Grandpa. 😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤😂❤

This happened in rural areas of East Tennessee where I was born and raised and still live up into the 80’s.
Eric the awful and Hugo the human cannonball are some of my favorites
I’m giving another vote for Shriner’s Convention.
No one does help me make it through the night which is sad because it's one of my favorites 😢
Been there, done that. I am 71.
I got another one for you from Ray Stevens " Too Drunk To Fish " the video is funny .
