Imagine that there is a timeline where Larnell Lewis didn't show up, so Cory Henry played drums on that record. No solo on Lingus, no solo on What About Me. Sad.
You know, there are ways to get around the dreaded audience clapping on 1 & 3. Here is a video of Harry Connick, Jr. having enough of it, so he adds one bar of 5/4 to get the crowd clapping on 2 & 4 whether they wanted to or not: ruclips.net/video/UinRq_29jPk/видео.html
I didn’t know this documentary even existed until the RUclips algorithm Gods revealed it to me. To be honest, I was hoping they would have talked more about the logistics and feelings inside the recording room for the album. Each song was so unique and took you on such an epic journey that there was so much to discuss. I would love to see more behind-the-scenes of the recording day. I can’t get enough of Snarky Puppy!
This whole record was just one single "how to produce a masterpiece - album in 4 days" - challenge. And the result came out with such a bang, it left an impact in the new jazz world! And you can still feel it's ripples waving. Thank you so much for uploading this Documentary! Let's hope it doesn't get taken down soon.
My first weekend in theatre school in like 2013 I had just moved to Toronto from Rural northern Ontario. some friends and I got into a pub where snarky puppy was playing... still one of the best atmospheres I can remember, these guys had the sidewalks bumping half-way down the street.
My band played in Germany a few years back (a small town called Soest) at a beer festival and there were street drinking kids ranging from about 10 up to about 15 or 16 (definitely a few that weren't teenagers yet). They sat at a bus stop, finished a crate and took all the empties away with them afterwards. German kids have a differemt relationship with alcohol than we Brits do that's for sure! 😂
Hey thanks for the ride in all accounts...at 65 ya'all inspire such a good vibe at spontaneous energy throughout A wonderful spirit....thanks guys !!! 2023....
Talking about people being quiet and paying attention at their shows, they literally created a meditative experience where everyone is present in the moment enjoying the feeling of not just their music but their love for it and everyone there being on this ride together❤ that’s what it’s all about
Music and performance of this caliber in and of itself make this a timeless album, but the stories behind the album are what makes it one of my favorites of all time.
I LOVE YOU ALL! You are all Super Human (says my children)! Thank you for sharing with us.... Nate Werth is massively underrated - nuff love and respect
I get it because European listeners are far more sophisticated than the US. Just look what Europe and Japan did for jazz, yet the home country of jazz, the US, didn’t embrace it accept for a smaller audience. Why? Rock, and most, not all of its players were black. I feel racism played a role, just like it did when it came to bebop or even straight artists from the early 40’s. Only Duke Ellington and Count Basie survived that period with any significant making a living from the music. Just my personal thoughts and beliefs. So I’m happy they created this!!!❤
I don't know what prevented Sput from recording with them, and I hope it wasn't something serious, but with all due respect to the great drummer he is, I'm glad it happened.
Best documentary I've ever watched!! So cool to get a behind the scenes look on snarky puppy, and it just shows how crazy good they all are and can pull anything off.
At 6:02, you can see as the trumpetists are finishing up, waaaaaay over on the other side of the room, Jay points over to Larnell. There wasn't a single person in the room who didn't realize that Larnell brought the missing piece of the puzzle.
My favourite band ever, I had no idea that you guys went from zero to album in 5 days !!! And Larnell you are a true inspiration, you all are, total respect to you all. I can’t wait for lockdown to be over and you can get your booties over to london !!
Hearing that the band had four days to write and learn 14 new songs had me shaking my head. Learning Larnell had two hours knocked me out of my chair. ......damn....
Wow, Just when we were all down and wondering what's going to happen in 2021, and then Boom! This is awesome inspiration. Thanks, RUclips Algorithm Gods

Wow what a cool quote, thank you!
Wow, something really new, and true!
so , Larnell is a genius . i guess thats one of the things we can all say out loud with a lot of confidence
Yep! I would also confidently say the same about Mr. League.
Yup
Absolutely those two break my brain
Don't be silly... that's not possible...He's actually an alien.
Imagine that there is a timeline where Larnell Lewis didn't show up, so Cory Henry played drums on that record.
No solo on Lingus, no solo on What About Me. Sad.
That still would’ve been killin’ cause he’s tight on drums too!
Im glad he did show because hes the reason i found snarky puppy.
@@FODteam Me too. What a find. My entire life changed since discovering this .
@@FODteam 110% agreed - LL makes the music tighter!
The darkest timeline?
So basically the greatest freestyle band 😂
😂
The Snarky family is the absolute coolest group of people. 2021.. please allow these folks to play again.
To be silent, while Musicians playing, is our way to respect :-). (( although some of us clap on 1 + 3 ))

I read about this documentary in the comments on some of the reaction videos. I had no idea about the background story craziness! :)
Thank you that's the same thing I was saying
I appreciate all of your music 🫶🏼‼️
I think my friends are tired of me talking about Snarky P. I don't care; this is an outstanding group. More please.
This is me currently

When great musicians come together great music usually comes together too.
This lot. They’re my heroes. I have yet to hear anything they’ve produced that I don’t love.

Who said that ? cant hear it in the video.

@@VariusAvenger Dude I knew it. Go look at Jay Jennings in the "Tell Your Friends" recordings and tell me that guy is not seriously stoned as hell.
They are in the Netherlands. What else do you expect?
Hah! Yup.
Some say there’s a documentary about Snarky puppy in this video. I just saw rules to play a new game that I will pass on to future generations

Imagine Larnell Lewis heard and practice this on the plane while bound to Europe to have recording session with SP. And the rest is history

One of the best albums ever!
The professionalism and genius of these guys are incomparable... Second to none
I say this with all the love I can muster from the bottom of my heart...Larnell Lewis, you are the biggest nerd I’ve ever seen
RIP Shaun Martin
These gentlemen have earned their awards and praises by hard work and conviction. That is crystal-clear.
I loved the ending. It really shows how far they have come.

Been going down the rabbit hole on this band recently after seeing Lingus in my recommendations so awesome to find this
Awesome band, awesome doco. By the way, that game is called 'Coin Rugby' in New Zealand and we play it with the goal facing the other way up.
I LOVE YOU ALL! You are all Super Human (says my children)! Thank you for sharing with us.... Nate Werth is massively underrated - nuff love and respect
This is a must watch til the end. These guys are so freaking inspiring, I wanna do exactly what they are doing
Oh man that was fantastic. Laughed my ass off at the ending ballad. Just "discovering" this band and looking forward to diving in further.
I love how bass players who hands move and not the fingers, and yet some funky ass complicated bass lines just splash out
As a bass player who does that me too man
Now I see how Larnell got his plug. He was DESTINED to be there.
I'm going to teach the coin games to all of my friends (after the pandemic). I'm so glad I watched this.
