Very old liturgical song performed the night before Christmas around Europe till the XVI century when the Trento Concilium prohibited the sacred song in all Europe. Only in some parts of Catalonia and Mallorca (Balearic Islands) have been performing this song in the language; Catalan instead of Latin (the original language of the song) until nowadays. The song " a Gregorian chant" is still performed in the original appearance, just a boy or a girl, wearing a white tunic, holding a sword sing the song in the acapella style explain the arrival of the Messiah in the Earth announcing the God's Final Judgement. What a beautiful song.

It is absolutely sublime and every interpretation is divine in its own right. Perhaps Hesperion made it sound little more early Baroque - late Renaissance, but it is still enchanting. Say what you will of Christianity, but it definitely inspired human creativity.

Did any fascist write Usatges? In Corbeil (1235), catalan countys were given by the French Crown to the Aragonese Crown. In Usatges (1251 recopilatio) is established that the Earl of Barcelona (the King of Aragon himself) was also "Princeps" among the other catalan earls, so the whole catalan countys became a Principality. This status hasn't changed since then, and Principat de Catalunya is the traditional name of the Region. If you don't believe me, you can see it in the official page of Generalitat de Catalunya. Anyway, please, share some of those several thousands proofs: i am always opened to learn.

La sibil·la is still sung in Catalonia on christmas eve. But it's on Mallorca where is more appreciated and popular.
