- Swan Lee got up at the Running Foot pow-wow,
heading from the fire to his waiting canoe.
Chattering Squaw untied the wigwam door,
the chief blew smoke rings two by two!
The land in silence stands...
Swan Lee, his boat by the bank in the darkness,
loosened the rope in the creek is entwined.
A feather from the wing of a wild young eagle,
pointed to the land where his fortune he'd find
The land in silence stands
Swan Lee paddled on from the land of his fathers,
his eyes scanned the undergrowth on either side.
From the shore hung a hot, heavy, creature infested
tropic, Swan Lee had a bow by his side
The land in silence stands
Swan Lee kept time, half on land, half on water,
Grizzly bear and raccoon his fare.
He followed his ears to the great water fall,
Swan Lee knew deep down that his squaw was there!
The land in silence stands....
Suddenly the rush of the mighty great thunder,
confronted Swan Lee as his song he sang,
In the dawn, with his squaw, he was battling homewards
It was all written down by Long Silas Lang.
The land in silence stands...
The land in silence stands...

What a musical genius! He didn't like school, he was nobody's fool and no record company was could ever dictate their terms to him. The ultimate rock star... Syd Barrett!
One of my favorite songs by him. It’s a shame it wasn’t included on Madcap or Barrett.
This, by far, is the best song Syd Barrett ever wrote!
I cant make heads nor tails of this song...and you know what I fucking love it.
Native Americans and their canoes
Swan Lee got up at the Running Foot pow-wow,
Pleaded from the fire to his waiting canoe.

Grizzly bear and raccoon his fare.
He followed his ears to the great water fall,
Swan Lee knew deep down that his squaw was there!
The land in silence stands...
Suddenly the rush of the mighty great thunder,
Confronted Swan Lee as his song he sang,
In the dawn, with his squaw, he was battling homewards
It was all written down by Long Silas Lang.
The land in silence stands...
The land in silence stands...
The land in silence stands.

Syds ability was to infer it is a very childlike ability which fee people understand to any degree
A true one off peope often alude to his so called craziness but too often dont get where he is going with his music! Genius and a sweet lovable boy!❤🌄
This is the best mixed Syd Barrett song
the land in silence stands
that is a beautiful lyric :)
Always thought he sang "the London silence stands"
Who else could come up with lyrics like this?
Syd Barrett the best GENERATOR , THE ONLY ONE !!!!
I don't understand why Producer Peter Jenner didn't list who the musicians are that are backing up Barrett!
It was rumored that Steve Peregrine Took plays Congas on these '68 sessions.
Sensacional Syd !!! Um Gênio.. RIP... Mister Barrett.
Y ya con escucharle la voz, y ese enfasis que tenia para cantar con su estilo de musica, , se nota de que era un genio
Great story telling where the instruments seem to be bending down to the tale or hero
удивительно красивая вокальная партия syd и музыкальное сопровождение гениальность
All convincing but I suggest that it should be "the creepers entwined" - makes more sense than "the creek is entwined". I wonder if Long Silas Lang ever got round to writing any more stories!
Thought it was the Quickness entwined...
Masterpiece.
love syd....and i am a 50 year old man
tonickton Love Syd and I’m 18
tonickton 45 and love him. Have since I first heard Piper when I was 12. I was walking through the shipping precinct above Hammersmith tube station when I saw a newspaper headline announcing his passing.
I burst into tears! Really bad, bawling my eyes out, loads of people staring at me.
Very odd.
You are 50 years young
Crazy bass guitar
that would be david gilmore i believe ?
spiralacrobat I believe so as well. Not 100% sure. I know Gilmore helped with Barrett and I think The Madcap Laughs but im not sure about opel
@@ibradeybunch @spiralacrobat No, Syd has made himself all the overdubbs on it.
Genius!

oooooooooooooooooh love iit¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
grizzly bear and raccoon his fare? quite a combo like james dean and some unknown actor
@killerb144 Yeah no problem and thank you! =)
I'm named after this song this song, Sila
After 7 years... That's awesome!!!
Is this the track Gilmour said Syd put reversed guitar on?
You have a lot of reverse guitar in Syd's solo stuff (Dominoes for example).
That one is dominoes, don't hear reversed in this one
Think I read somewhere that it's the drums that are reversed on this track.
@@johnkinnane3868 lmao i dont know
@@silverdragon710 Yeah, I,m sure it's in the sleeve notes for the Opel cd. Trust Syd to think of backwards drums, great track all the same though.
@tonickton ok
Sadly he had undiagnosed untreated Schizophrenia
Most likely
Possibly. I think he may have (also?) been a highly sensitive person (HSP) and/or empath. It can be hard to deal with.
way too much lsd s[lit his personality in 2 and shut him down. sad.
Sorry again: this song not his song, I can't write tonight.
Sounds like Roger Waters voice
