- Today I'm comparing the Aimé Leon Dore BB550 release to the BB550 GRs and will explain why I have my doubts that it's worth it to spend the extra cash when buying resell.
Of course the Aimé Leon Dore BB550 has paved the way for this model altogether but diving a little deeper into detail will reveal that you might want to opt for one of the GRs instead, especially if a clean simple colorway is your thing!

I was lucky enough to grab a GR pair in green for retail when they released and noticed recently how the resell has spiked up.
The quality of leather on the Shifted sports pack however feels quite synthetic/cheap

Unfortunately I always missed out on it no matter where it released. When the chance on the ALD lurked around of course I had to make use of it because I really wanted a green pair. Yeah I think the Sports Pack didn't sell as well as the others. Looks like the first kind of leather they used
💛 The honesty. I *usually* think collabs are over-hyped & overpriced. Appears to be the case with these 550s. Ppl: spend that same money for a pair or two of MIUSA NB 99X & thank me/yourself later.
To me collabs that Nike makes are no real collabs because they make like what... 50,000 - 100,000+ pairs of them? Even at that number it's still hard to get because they distribute to everyone via one app, so the whole world is trying to get the relatively low supply, hyped up by marketing. In comparison the NB releases are really small, but current production conditions don't really benefit the customers and even GRs sell out almost instantly. A big part to this is also fomo, in order to be relevant in today's IG algorithm you constantly need to show the latest stuff or people won't click. I could go on for days what's wrong atm

550s are a pass for me due to fit - my toes are cramped and my heels slip - 990s I love
I got narrow feet so I don't have any issues with width. I don't have any or much heel slipping at all, maybe that's highly subjective also. But gotta agree, 990 have a more generic fit

Man that yellow pair . I should have paid the price before cause keeps going up 🤦♂️. Naim wore his to work and I saw them and right after almost bought but it was around I was buying a few things at resell and didn't want to pay resell for a GR and hoped for a miracle restock nothing. I got the green with the suede and the ald green I don't need both im see if i download trade block and maybe do a trade that way. Great video as always and enjoyed the intro too ✊️🙏
Yeah that yellow pair is really nice indeed, I'm glad I was able to get it for retail after all. Telling you, without covid nobody would have to pay resell for a GR and maybe even the ALD would sit (unlikely though). Sometimes you just gotta admit that you cannot have every single damn pair that's coming out 😄 thanks man, really appreciate it 🙏

never owned the 550, I always think its just an over-hyped model....just like the Adidas Forum or NIkes AF1
Maybe it's because I'm a little older and harder to impress haha. Both Forum and BB550 are good sneakers. Of course ALD has fired the hype for the 550 but I think the real problem is currently COVID which is throttling supply. Without it I'm sure at least the GRs would go on sale. Adidas has tried to hype up the Forum to some extend - as they always do - but only partially successfully so. I think it has been a short-lived boost and next year it will be pretty much forgotten
I really like the suede panel on the sea salt pack. I’m still hoping to find the green pair for retail. I was able to catch the navy pair for close to retail. The green one is priced too high IMO. Due to its similarity to the ALD color way shown in this video. I think people will justify the price based on the micro textures to the leather on the ALD pair. Dope comparison. A lot of people don’t know. You put us on game. Appreciate it sir.
The green Sea Salt pair is really nice and probably my favorite out of the pack. And to be honest I like that little bit poppier green a little more than the one on the ALD. The cracked N logo is pretty nice though. And yes, the green Sea Salt pair is more expensive because it is so close. Crazy world we're living in haha. I'm waiting for the 650R myself and passed on the exclusive access. Thanks for this review it has allayed my fears with regards to missing out the ALD 550. In South Africa we are yet to get a meaningful B550 release and I do hope the quality is better.
Don't get me wrong the quality is not bad but it's nowhere near the money people are asking for resell. Crossing fingers for you!
@@HighlyAkicktive I do get your point that price these days rarely goes hand in hand with quality. The dunk releases in 2021 are proof of this as their quality has dropped immensely.

Wow interesting! I was lucky enough to get the grey and green ALD off their website on the restock so don’t have any GRs but glad I didn’t pay resale after watching this! That Sea Salt pack is very nice as well 👌🏼
I also won both pairs but the Silver pair was a little under my expectations as it had some serious flaws ( many people had issues too). I have to say that ALD has a very good customer service, even when it takes a couple of days to respond

@@HighlyAkicktive exactly that 😂 It was really very interesting. I’m not the greatest ALD-Fan, but in general a interesting fact, that there are no differences between the General Release and the ALD Release.
