I have my 85 year old Mother and my 65 year old husband with dementia to plan for, both with special “can eat, won’t eat, need to eat” needs. Most of you are probably busy Moms with soccer practice, dance class, work deadlines, doesn’t really matter. I couldn’t function without the menus to meal plan part of this great app. It saves me a ton of money, no longer just buying stuff I think I might use during the week, only to have it ruin and throw it away.
Once I got recipes loaded in, I really used the “menu” section.
I created like Mexican Monday, Tilapia Tuesday etc, menus, whatever makes sense to you.
I put mains, sides, breads, desserts, etc in each day of the week category. You count the days of the month, like the 1st Monday as day 1, the next Monday as day 8, etc out of 30 days. First Tuesday was day 2, next was day 9 and so on through each day of the week.
Then I went to the meal planner section, did a + on the first Monday of the month and clicked “add menu” and went to my Monday menu. It populates each Monday of the month. Repeat the process for each day of the week. You have to do the + on the 1st Monday, even if populating Tuesday.
It takes a bit of practice, but I now have 2 months of planned menus without repeating a main dish one time. Now I can spend more time being a caregiver or doing busy Mom errands and not have to worry about dinner.

Wow! This is a fantastic way to use menus in the app. I'm going to have to explore this option way more. This sounds like a game changer.

I use the pantry feature a lot. I even put paper goods, health and beauty items, etc in there. Anything you buy at the store, not just food related. I try to go to the pantry as I use the last of anything, on the spot and show it out of stock.
Then I populate them to my grocery list. Saves so much time on shopping day, I spend less time actually looking in physical pantry, fridge, freezer.

Digital meal planning is so smart! Who has time to be struggling with cookbooks and paper recipes every week... ESPECIALLY when you have to meal plan on the go! I also like the idea of having a grocery tracking system... So you can have an idea of what is in the house as you are planning. Definitely going to be converting to digital meal planning. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you! I am doing my best to follow your instruction. Instead of manually typing in my recipes, I scan them, from THERE I send them to PHOTOS, send them to NOTES, COPY AND PASTE INTO PARIKA

When you use an item does it remove it from your pantry or do you have to remove things and keep up on it?

It’s been a bit since I’ve used the app. Being winging meals since have my baby girl in January 2024. I’ll have to check it out, I don’t remember off the top of my head.

I am working with this app, and disappointed that they have not incorporated a barcode reader for the pantry part. That is such a no-brainer. Scan in, populate info. doh!

Wow I hadn’t thought of that before. That’s an incredible suggestion. You need to send that to the developers!

Do you love your veggie dicer? I wanted to buy one... But the ones I came across had bad reviews... I got tired of researching. Lol if you like your, where did you get it?

Absolutely 100% recommend a veggie chopper! It saves me sooo much time. Mine is the Visalia Chop Wizard. You should be able to find it on Amazon.

Is the cost of the app is a lifetime or monthly subscription?

I made this video in 2021 and I have yet to pay a subscription fee for it. It should be lifetime unless the company decides to change it. I actually like this app so much that I recently purchased the desktop version as well.
