    This show is genuinely good as fuck. I was absolutely blown away by the end of it. It actually subverts a lot of tropes, you’ll just have to see.

    No mo-cap - just awesome animation!! Welcome to this emotional rollercoaster and masterpiece of a show! there is a making of called "Bridging the Rift" but dont watch until you have finished the series. That documentary itself is a work of art

    • @aspieanarchist5439
      @aspieanarchist5439 27 дней назад

      It`s actually made with a mix of 2-D backgrounds and effects, matte painting and 3-D characters created through a process called "keyframing". The crew did act out the scenes on camera as the animators animated them like in a lot of mocap however. So the confusion`s understandable.

    Just an FYI. Arcane won 4 Emmy's. 9 Annie Awards. A a bunch of other awards. Has a 100% critic's rating and 94% user rating in Rotten Tomatoes.

    The first two episodes are world building, and the third episode hits like a metal door. It does not slow down after the third episode.

    So glad you decided to take our suggestion on watching Arcane. Yes it is on a slower start with the first two episodes of the world building but after that it just keeps going up. Hold on to your seat. Tightly. It helps that the art style is so satisfying to look at and the music/ sound design are just as pleasing to the ears.

    I had the same feeling about the Characters as you did when watching the first episodes, where they all felt too 1-Dimensional/flat.
    Complex/relatable characters in shows usually have 2 or more tropes within the same person to create internal conflict and I always feel disconnected from shows when all the characters lack depth.
    Thankfully, this show intentionally tries to throw you off guard with that knowledge at first. REALLY sneaky writers.
    I'm so excited to see you react to the rest of this masterpiece! >:D

  • @pielova305
    @pielova305 2 месяца назад +8

    Great insight about the animation! There actually is a "behind the making" series on their youtube channel called "bridging the rift", but the animation style is EXTREMELY similar to "Into the spiderverse" in that it's unique since it combines BOTH 2d and 3d animation! They animate everything first with 3d animation/models, and then do 2d paintings/animations over the frames for added effects, which is different than CGI used in anime which puts 3d models in a 2d world!
    Except instead of being done for a 2hr movie on a huge budget by Sony Pictures, it was done by a tiny French animation studio for the run time of 3 full movies with a much smaller budget. They say the French are passionate- not to be stereotypical but this show exudes passion and love !

  • @CaptWaffles

    So something that I think this show does that you’ll find interesting is that it set a tone with the troupes and expectations of the story, only to vastly change.
    The concept of the city having the different levels both physically and economically was world design that predated the characters and story.
    When watching keep in mind this show was released and designed to be watch in 3 episodes increments.
    As someone who has watched this show about 17 + times I’m still seeing things that strike me as impressive story telling.
    In the opening scene of episode one you see an enforcer shooting someone point blank and then the scene starts to get scrambled and scratchy…
    That’s because this is powder’s perspective and that was her mother getting shot execution style in front of her. This causes her mind to start to break and hallucinate as she looks at the dead people around her.
    And another detail just from episode one is the cleaver reveal of what valuable currency looks like. When the kids are just about to get shook down for their haul, Deckard is rolling a somewhat silver coin in his hand.
    This becomes important in a coming up scene where Huck is getting scammed by two thugs and they show a bronze looking coin (Ofc bronze being a value that all league players are quite familiar with 😂).
    But the ability to show more information about the world and setting without directly explaining it with dialog, is something that I see this show do with absolute mastery.
    I wish other writers could replicate such remarkable storytelling.
    The duality of characters is fantastic and all major players have understandable view points and motivations.

    • @CaptWaffles
      @CaptWaffles 2 месяца назад

      Also, I’d like to add there is so much more detail in this show you would appreciate watching a second time.
      Unlike many shows that pull the old look at this hand while the other… well they actually never show you the other hand.
      They hide key details from the viewers and act like the big reveal is impressive.
      This show doesn’t, it lays all its cards in front of you even if you don’t recognize or understand what you’re looking at yet.
      This allows for a fulfilling second watch where you can then see details that were planted right in front of you.

    The entire series is hand animated and literally painted frame by frame with no mocap. All textures and lighting are done by hand with a brush. Which is why from beginning to end this series relentlessly beautiful.

    JB Blanc was born in Paris where the show is animated but grew up in Yorkshire and New York City. So he has an Americanized Northern English accent and if you`re wondering JB is perfectly capable of changing his accent for characters as he has done on multiple occasions( As shown by his Aussie accent as Kano in Mortal Kombat 11, his Russian/Scandinavian Freljordian accent as Braum in "League of Legends", his South American/Spanish accent as Bane in "Batman Arkham Origins" and his more posh accent as Deacon Frost in the English Dub of the Blade Anime on G4, his Cockney accent as the Pyro(Not that Pyro) in TF2,, his version of the character was more comic accurate than the younger, Americanized Stephen Dorff version in The Film albeit both were clean shaven unlike The Comic version who had a thick 19th Century style beard and outfit further demonstrating his vampiric nature.)

    As far as action / fantasy / steampunk animated series go, this one is literally the number 1 in my book!
    PS: I know how it can seem "tropey" at first glance, but the origins of the city and the world they are set in are one of the most unique universes I've ever seen. Wait till episode 2 to see a glimpse of what I mean and I also recommend watching Necrit's lore video on League of Legends when you finish the series, it really put things into perspective :)

    Before when you uploaded a reaction of the last episode of AoT, i thought that I would just end watching your channel - I'm gonna be honest, I retract that. I've seen many AoT reactions, but JD's chill, real and honest vibes made me stay on this channel. And so, to react to another banger of a TV Show (and actually listen to what your viewers want you to react to) - You bought me back, I'm gonna stay here for a long time (even more, as someone who loves Arcane)! :D
