Man, I was looking forward to you putting out a $2800 hot air solder station and desolder a SMD 80 pin connector, but no you just use a screwdriver and do some prying. Really, I would've wrecked it without knowing how it is attached. Nice vid! PS Like that you transferred the labels
Nice job. Personally I'd put a bit of plastic, EPDM rubber, cardboard or something like that between the metal of the pliers/clamp and the PCB while compressing just to be sure not so damage the surface or any of the solder joints. Kinda amazing that those connectors are just press fit, didn't expect that.
Very informative video thank you for publishing this. I'm so happy I came across this video today if only just a vent a little bit about how much I hate broadcom in their subscription models right now 😂.
@@ArtofServer Haha, anti-corrosion. Actually, tubeDude48 is not wrong, albeit I'm not sure to which extent it's needed for this press fit connectors. But sure, to be on the safe side.

I'm glad these type of connectors are relatively easy to replace. SFF-8087 shield part is a real pain.

yeah, that's a good idea too. the Knipex pliers do have a smooth flat surface so it doesn't mar up the contact surface. thanks for watching!
"is like taking a shower with a cat" hahahah - from your ebay
LOL. you deserve extra points for checking out my listing and reading the description!

Glad I was able to give you the opportunity. Lol
awesome !
Thank you! Cheers!
is there anything stopping you from making this a 24i by soldering in the other connector?
that's a great question! i might have to investigate that....
👌
Thanks
Since you contaminated the surface of the board with your fingers, you should have cleaned the surface with some alcohol before seating the connector!
No, that's me applying the anti-corrosion to the contacts. Alcohol is bad for you.
@@ArtofServer - I was talking about you, I was talking about the board.
