    dear Lanas, thank you for the video of the lovely sweater. I figured out that you start at the neck, when you pass the space for upper arm you make a different circle for the body. that is so good, no sewing involved.

    At 25.32 is shows the 1 decrease for the sleeve, says 1 every 10 rows. Im counting that decrease at row 12 from the neck not including the trim. Am i wrong?

    Hi Lana, if I use a bigger hook (9) should I just try it out around my neck to see how many chains I should do? That would be my first cardigan, so I'm a beginner! Thank you very much for your help :-)

    • @LanasyOvillosinEnglish
      @LanasyOvillosinEnglish  7 лет назад

      Yes, it is exactly what you should do. Then try to divide per 4 the chains and make the 4 corners. Then only increase as we show in the video to make the yoke ;)

    I am making one for me with hook 3 mm. Size small as I do not like deep neck and chain 120 glides through my neck. I will have to increase the yoke from row 13 by 5 more rows to reach arm pit level. Is that ok. Then would start the body portion. I like to have enough ease around my body too.

      You're so welcome and thank YOU. I made this pattern as an Easter Dress for my granddaughter using white as the base color and a rainbow of other colors alternating with the white. Now I am making her a top and skirt with this pattern for Sunday Mass using gray as the main color with colors alternating with the gray. The dress was lovely BUT the yarn stretched because a dress is much too heavy. It started out at her knees and after a couple of hours, was down to her calves! LOL I used Cotton Fair by Premier Yarns. It washed very nicely using Color Grabber in the machine. I think doing two pieces instead of one will solve the weight/stretching problem.

      Hi. Did you put 7 sets of DC across the chest and 6 over the shoulder? Or is it the other way around? I like the sound of that rainbow pattern by the way!

    • @larkbird9247
      @larkbird9247 7 лет назад

      @aksnails .......... I put 7 for chest & back and 6 for each shoulder. I started with 7 sets. I was too careless and had to redo many times for not having the exact chain of 120, skipping a stitch between sets, and extra corner set and all those things that happen when your mind is distracted! UGH. I finally did it exactly (I did the DC foundation chain) and it came out perfectly. My granddaughter is 7 yrs old and wears a size 6. This is definitely SMALL. Once you get that pattern on row 2 done correctly, the rest is sooooooo easy. (What a great pattern Lanas y Ovillos have given us!)
      I carried the white (repeated between each row of successive colors) without tying off throughout the whole garment. I used a stitch marker to hold it until I was ready for it again. To start the white again, I chained up around 3 and moved over a set so the chain didn't show. If you do a set right where you chained, it will show in the 1-chain space. I also didn't sew each color row in. I TIED them. You'll have two ends of that row's color. Tie them once softly, a second time more firmly, and a third very tightly. That way they won't bunch. If I can , I'll post a photo of the Easter Dress.

  • @aksnails
    @aksnails 7 лет назад

    Hi. Thanks a lot for this tutorial. In row 2, please can you tell me which number of groups of stitches goes on the chest? In other words, which row should be longer - the one on the chest or the one going over the shoulder? Thanks.

    Hello Lanas! I love this video and your wonderful instructions! I'm wanting to use a thicker yarn and I am at a loss of the stitch count to use. Many "granny squares" are made with a beginning chain in multiples of 3 (+1), but I see by the different sizing in the written instructions, that this is not the case.? Could you give us what the beginning chain should be a multiple of? And if there are additional stitches to include with the beginning chain? Thank you so very much!

    • @LanasyOvillosinEnglish
      @LanasyOvillosinEnglish  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Rebecca! There is not amultiple number of chains in this pattern, because the part of the soulders and the part of the back is not symetric. There are more groups on the back and the front than on the shoulders :)

    • @julismaris4085
      @julismaris4085 7 лет назад

      Hi,
      It is confusing even in the English speaking countries :)
      Jumper(UK, Australia) is same as a pullover or sweater(Canada, US).
      Jumper = Pullover = Sweater: a piece of clothing "pulled over" the head instead of buttoned or zipped-up.
      Cardigan is open in the front with or without buttons.

      Angélica Ko-Pe I found it! It's multiple of 4 and every size you would increase you have to add 16 chains, the same you have to eliminate if you want to reduce the size. I read it on a French blog ;)

    • @LanasyOvillosinEnglish
      @LanasyOvillosinEnglish  6 лет назад

      It is multiple of 4, but you can't divide in 4 exactly parts the yoke, the front and the back are bigger than the shoulders :)

      You can find the 4 sizes in our web site. Small, medium, large and extra large. If you want the big size, you should make the large or extra large. On the place that you can read materials, there is the amount of yarn taht you need, 450 or 550g depending on the size (l or xl). And the colors in this case are white and beige :)

    This is super cute! I can't wait to make one for myself. One thing I can't help but notice though is how uncomfortable your hand must be with how you're holding the hook. My hand cramped up just by watching.

    • @LanasyOvillosinEnglish
      @LanasyOvillosinEnglish  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you!! I think that the way to hold the hook is very personal, for me, it is the most confortable position ;)
