Arrogate at his best was great. But remember that he lost 4 races and ran truly great in only 4 races. Secretariat at his best was greater. But remember that he lost 4 races, 5 including the DQ. Affirmed beat Spectacular Bid; Seattle Slew beat Affirmed. Don’t forget Ghostzapper who ran higher Beyers than Arrogate. Many people say that Dr Fager was the best up to 1 1/8. These people do not live in reality. If find them terribly odd with all their " what ifs " and not paying attention to facts. They cannot make an absolute from an unknown. American Pharoah is a Triple Crown Winner and in the Breeder's Cup Classic 2015 won by destroying the field, on the other hand Arrogate did really mess up his last race.

Quality of competition means a lot in the “who’s the greatest” discussion. Dr Fager ran against Damascus 4x. Damascus, in his prime, was probably better than any horse that Arrogate or any of the others faced. Secretariat faced Sham 4x. Sham was brilliant at CD and PIM. The great Bid beat nobody. Same for Ghostzapper. Then again, you can only beat the horses that run against you. To me, it comes down to Secretariat and Dr Fager in recent times, Man ‘o War the greatest of all time.
If every horse you train has been on drugs who wants to breed to those stallions every one in the clique the blood stock ponzi scheme works for all those so called ex quarter horse trainer's including Lucas both the worst thing ever happened to horse racing more blood on their hands than a butcher jas on his apron

If you set record times in the triple crown like secretariat did and they are still unbeaten in 2022, you are the greatest of all time. How would you know how great the horses who ran against Man o war are in order to make him the greatest of all time? I highly doubt there is much info on horses that long ago.

I love Pharoah very much, but he could never beat Arrogate in a race.
