    Louise Godbold you ARE a brave brave girl/woman and I feel I totally understand you. Trauma is everywhere in our everyday lives either it has happen to us personally or to another person. Therefore, it IS vital we start right away educating ourselves and everyone about trauma.

    I think the comments section of this video is very important to see precisely what Louise is talking about at 1:28.
    It's people making light of the situation, asking "did it feel good though?" or saying "I wouldn't even rape you".
    You can always tell who the shitlords and their shitlings are.

      The ones who didn't contact the cops are the enablers, the ones that fucked Weinstein for a paycheck traded their dignity away for a payday, meanwhile only one person did the right thing and she didn't get paid at all, Hollywood should perhaps not lecture us peons about morality, at this point they are worse than the Roman Catholic Church.

    • @TiagoMorbusSa
      @TiagoMorbusSa 7 лет назад +4

      They didn't trade their dignity away, they were robbed of their dignity. For a payday, yeah, but they are the victims here.
      Also, I'm pretty sure no one should lecture anyone about morality.

    • @TiagoMorbusSa
      @TiagoMorbusSa 7 лет назад +2

      Oh, look at that, misogynistic slurs how predictable. Also victim blaming, but that's a bit less predictable, I'll give you that. Only the really scumbags pull that one.
      And then again, maybe not.

    • @joermundgand

      The Raddest Scorpion. Victim blaming, no I don't blame them, I just think that things will never get any better if people remain cowards and take the money and fame.

    This is one of the best pieces I've seen to date, on this topic. Thank you for addressing the finite, often overlooked details that occur within the minds and hearts the abused, and how we perpetuate retraumatization and condone abuse in our culture on a daily basis.

    She's wrong. Women blame themselves because of fundamental attribution error. In other words, they believe it is something within themselves which has caused the situation, rather than realising that the offender is just looking for a victim; any victim.

      Well maybe if women didn't look so good we wouldn't have to rape them. Ever think of that??

      Mogwai Gremlin Something looking good doesn' t allow you to take it. Cars, diamons and goods look good, but you just can't go and take them. Men who think like you are part of the problem. Shame on you, animal!.

    • @Furzkampfbomber

      The only thing they should blame themselfes here is that most of them are liars. Because you can't tell me that nothing would have happened to Weinstein if all those accusations were real and they would have gone to the police.
      And isn't it funny that so far not one of the Weinstein accusers has done this _now, hm?_
      And by the way, it was not like those women were starving. If a man like Weinstein asks them to give him a blowjob in return for a movie role, all they had to do is to say "No".

    I disagree with all these people who say that it's "all about the power discrepancy". As someone who has been sexually assaulted at work, I know there is another reason why we hesitate to come forward and one that is probably unique to women. This man at my work who was touching me inappropriately had no more power than I did, but what he did have, that he made sure he spoke about often to me and everyone around him, was a young wife and 2 very young children. He was sly in his behaviour towards me, coming into my office area every time he knew my co-workers left the common space, but when he wasn't doing that, he was showing me and everyone around him pictures of his wife, a stay-at/home mother of his two innocent, beautiful children. This man used the fact that he was the provider for his young family as his "power" over me and not actual wealth, influence or connections as his power. As women, we are even more guilt-ridden about ruining innocent family members status quo, especially children's. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore and I spoke to my boss, the kind of boss everyone should have, and he convinced me that it was that man who would be hurting his family, not me and I filed an official complaint with HR. Many of these predators can pick out women who are very sensitive and would rather allow their own harm than harm children they don't even know and use that. Harvey Weinstein was an older man but he had a young beautiful wife and 2 small children. I really do believe that this "don't rock this innocent family's boat" was also a big factor to women not coming forward. Weinstein's wife has now left him and his children are now separated from him because he was a sick man. That weighs heavily on us too.

      Good for you and so glad you had a supportive superior in your career. I made the mistake of believing HR was available to assist abused employees when in fact they only exist to protect the corporation/company. I honestly feel that your unfortunate workplace experience resolution is unique, but elated that you received compassionate concern and care, honestly!

    You should have Corey Feldman on this isn't just an issue with Weinstein like with police/politicians & as you saw in Spotlight priests this is the norm "in their world" & if you aren't really part of it you end up blacklisted or attacked if it is at all possible. It's an issue of there being a massive amount of let's just call them criminals in just about every position of real power you can think of & they know to defend one another if it is as I said at all possible. In the mob you used to have to do something horrific=a murder, child rape etc. then they would keep the evidence to make sure that they didn't even have to communicate directly to you that they knew you would do whatever you could to protect them & their accomplices my guess is that this is the mantra of those in power right now each one in place because they've done something of which the deep stat/oligarchy has the evidence of to keep people playing a role to corral-control a segment of the population while always in reality working as a fixer-public relations, controlled opposition for the corrupt. It's long overdue that the general public understood the sheer scale of people which my guess is in the millions who've gravitated-been elevated to positions of power to rig the system to protect the most vile behavior imaginable. 4-5% of all people are socio-psychopath that's 15+Million in the USA alone, think about it.

    One Question: Why was Farrow able to publish this story when so many others could not? If Weinstein was able to squash this all this time because of his power, what changed? Did he lose power all of sudden??

    The reason its so hard to do a story about sexual assault is because society values the lives of men more than it does the lives of women. People don't want to see a man's reputation ruined, and therefore, would rather see the woman's reputation ruined for daring to make an accusation. There is also the problem of false accusations, which are a reality, that makes people skeptical of legitimate accusations.

    I never met the louse when I was working in H'wood. But I saw enough to know I did not want any part of it. I was in it from age 19-22. Short-lived by my own choice. That said, decades later, I think this sh*t goes on in every sector.

    And women aren't using their wiles and seduction to get what they want, playing the game? This is not meant for those women who did not want to play that game. I think it's interesting that there's such an uproar over grown women in Hollywood, but when someone like Corey Feldman warned of predators of children in the business, no one said a thing. No hashtag, no media blitz. Think of how many children that have kept their silence, carrying THAT shame, from family, because they couldn't bear the rejection of like a father or mother?

    omg, yes it's always our fault and so many women are part of covering up, it is time for women to stand together and protect one another- these perpetrators are in positions of working with children, working in churches and positions where they have access to those who are powerless

    its very likely that Weinsteins wife Georgina had to know, I mean Harvey had actress coming to his home and he would put the moves on 'em. She had must have been turning a blind eye. Of course anyone who did say anything would have had their contracts, scripts, shows, and chances cancelled.

    Oh please! Women who go into that profession are women of low moral character. Drifters, grifters, trading on their looks and their sexuality. .....Please do not waste the taxpayer money going after this guy. If you charge him with a sex crime, he will reveal every sexual encounter that these women of low moral character have ever had, and the jury will find those women as flawed witnesses. Go home girls. You knew what you were getting into when you wanted to be in this field...

      They didn´t got sexually harassed. Why did she go with him in his hotel room if she didn´t like that he made her grab his dick? These assholes of women make it really hard for real victims to get justice in court. I wish the public would call them out.
