SOI are the pioneers of Symphonic Deathcore. Doin it better and before Lorna Shore
Couldn't agree more. In the last album Lorna literally copies their own riffs from previous albums before Will, and it's boring af. The best they ever put out was Immortal and even that doesn't really come close to Reclaimer or Melancholy. However I do think SoI were "inspired" by Lorna's success when writing this song
Yep they really are! SOIs early stuff is phenomenal!! super cool with this direction again after Elegy! Even tho i adore Elegy as an album!!!
facts, chris wiseman is the goat with this type of music. he learned piano as a kid before picking up guitar and I think it helped him develop deep understanding of musical theory, scales, song structure, etc.. and you hear a lot of classical style in his writing, especially Primordial. sounds like beethoven wrote some riffs

This song... I'm not gonna lie. I cried I laughed, I giggled, I yelled... This band just does it for me everything. This is the only band next to Lorna Shore that has moved me for the last 20 years. And live they are even more epic🔥👌

These guys are one of the OGs for symphonic deathcore (not so much blackened) - if anything, Lorna Shore was influenced by them. Their last album Elegy moved more into symphonic death metal and abandoned the breakdowns for the most part, which is why this song is so exciting haha.
I know you've reacted to some singles, but definitely listen to Melancholy and Reclaimer from top to bottom. Melancholy especially is one of my top 5 favourite metal albums of all time; an absolute masterclass in symphonic deathcore (and the best drumming they've ever had from Anthony Barone too)

Out of all three bands mentioned, if anything Shadow of Intent is the band who originated and perfected the introduction of this particular style of deathcore. To go even further back, Winds of Plague was to my knowledge thee first ever symphonic deathcore band back in the early 2000s
But if you really wanna see where the now known as "lorna sound" found its inspiration from, listen to Reclaimer from Shadow of Intent:)

Shadow of Intent are amazing, I've had their last 3 albums on repeat for the past 2 months! Seeing them with Lorna Shore and Brand of Sacrifice in New Orleans next weekend!Shadow of Intent has had this kind of sound for years. Their album Melancholy is a masterpiece.

Shadow of Intent has been doing this before Brand of Sacrifice. If anything BoS sounds or gets influences from SOI. They have been doing this just as long as Lorna Shore if you go through their discography.
SOI starts in January 2016 with their first LP Primordial, and Lorna began making great use of orchestral instruments since their album Immortal in January 2020, if i not mistaken. Even Brand of Sacrifice used child choir before Immortal's release, in 2018 with their EP The Interstice

Shadow is an OG death metal/death core band. They have the same type of close following that Lorna does, but they have been doing this sound for a long time. They also produce their own music. Chris has a studio in his house that he records and constructs the albums in. Comparing everything to Into the Hellfire almost hurts to hear. Having benchmarks takes the fun out of new songs.
This one was awesome! Both the sound and lyrics remind me of Reclaimer, really excited for this album.

Fun fact! Shadow of Intent is the name of a Covenant ship from the Halo series! Their early stuff had very Halo related lyrics.
The video made me think of Halo's infestation as well as a Starcraft Zerg ship with the living ship on the interior. Video was sick! And I love the speed and brutality of the song!

Shadow Of Intent has simply released some of the best music ever made. Pick any song from any album, and its a guaranteed banger. Also theyve been in the game since 2016 and always had this symphonic deathcore blend before it was as popularized as it is today

You need to go check out their reclaimer album this song definitely sounds more like that than the newer album elegy. Their first two albums were based around halo.

Yea shadow of intent has always kinda sounded like this. You should listen to their reclaimer album. It's very grandiose melodic operatic like sound with the same heaviness like Lorna shore

I think Lorna Shore really inspired a vibe if you want to be relevant as a band in this niche. That's on the fans not the bands to be specific. And any vocalist inspired by Will Ramos, in my opinion at least, is doing it right because growth as an artist is good for the industry. Who doesn't want nasty vocal changes it'll get stale eventually, I'm assuming, like everything else but for now weeeeeee! Shadow of Intent has always had this Sci Fi kind of thing going on like Halo meets blackish metal though which at least sets them apart. Great track, great reaction as usual!
This is how they used to sound. Elegy kind of dropped the deathcore tropes while still being awesome. But THIS is the SOI that I want
