  • Rotavirus | Risk Factors, Pathophysiology, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment
Rotavirus is a double-stranded RNA virus that is the most common cause of severe gastroenteritis in children. There are several risk factors for getting rotavirus infection including being an unimmunized young child and being immunocompromised. The pathophysiology of rotavirus infections involves several mechanisms (including decreasing activity of brush border enzymes), which we discuss in more detail in this lesson. We also discuss the incubation period of rotavirus, signs & symptoms, how it is diagnosed and how it is treated.

I had rotavirus when I was 6 and I almost died (turning 17 in 3 months). What I wanna say is that I still have some stomach sensibilities. Take care y'all as this virus is not so easy to deal with

Children can catch a rotavirus infection if they put their fingers in their mouths after touching something that has been contaminated by the stool of an infected person. Usually this happens when children forget to wash their hands often enough, especially before eating and after using the toilet.

EVERY video addresses what it is and it's symptoms but NO video ever tells how you get it in the first place. We all understand it's transmitted through poop but nobody ever addresses how it infected the host. Whyyyyyyy is this so hard?! But I'm only a few minutes in so I'll keep watching to see if this is the one and only video to actually explain it.
