What's up with all the hate? This was seriously dope. The story is about the nature of skateboarding. You see him being really good some days, really bad other days, and comparing it to being like when he first started skating (all the sloppy mongo pushing, getting off the board and trying to straighten it with his hands) doing really well and then fucking up when he starts taking it too seriously, and then after doing something fun like riding under the box and being reminded of how beautiful skating is, he goes back to being able to land shit and skate with style again This is a really detailed depiction of how skateboarding is from the beginner level to the pro level.
when he carves around the outside of the pitch, near the people, it looks like hes doing an impression of the late seventie to mid eighties del mar contest runs, where they roll out and roll back in again to get speed/generate crowd hype. when he lay on his back, it could have been an impression of when skaters filiming a trick they can do normally bail in the street. jay adams reference/ neil blender reference aswell maybe
Michael Akers i mean i don’t hate on gonz, i love how he’s so free and stuff haha. But i mean theres so many legend skateboarders that don’t have any recognition or have never been recorded before.. gonz just happened to have a ton of cameras around him!
I think he was trying to show that skateboarding should be childlike and creative, skateboarding is not just doing crazy tricks and going huge, it is about having fun and being creative.
The Gonz doing performance art, fucking sick. And to the people that don’t understand that’s ok, think of it as freeform dancing; a dispersement of energy in that moment.
My take on it is that is questions why certain practices like skating (or for me biking, or for other people things like the way we drive or the way we use body language) are not considered art. I personally consider biking and skating to be very creative and artistic when done right, and I love this performance because it puts such a common practice on the same level with the fine art in the rest of the gallery. I think the choice of pop music is also important, because it shows how skating is a popular culture and how the art world is often removed from popular culture.
Nick McCack yeah true that but he done this in the past he’s just done it again to show skating can be an art the music was probably the same as when he done it originally
When somebody calls anything "art" and the sheep go along with it...because they don't have an artistic bone in their body to realize they've just been duped. F'n squares.
All you fkng little kids think you know what your toy is about because tv and video games told you. You are sheep. Let art be art, t's not supposed to be the next Fkng Addidas video you moron's. You don't have to like it but this man will still be relevant long after you ever realized you weren't. Where did your imagination go milenials? Was it never there in the first place? just like your individuality and idenity.
worry about your own street cred there dipshit because yours is non existent compared to his past, today and tomorrow. That's why he's him and you're still you
Be hella better if he performed to xxxtentacion. Like. So misunderstanded for there time. Like cobain too. Or mc peepants. Rip x. (I spelt there wrong the 1st time.)
he could've just walked out and took a shit on the floor then left and got the same exact crowd response
And he'd deserve it.
Thanks for posting this. The original looked more enjoyable when everyone didn’t have their phones out .
watch at 2x speed. muted. with charlie chaplin music

Kayvahn let me get some on the shrooms your on
I agree. Does some impressive stuff. Don't get the hate. It's like a ballet kinda. In the way its presented at least.

Gonz made this as a representation of how you can stamp a label on anything, and people will believe it with a little bit of effort.
If anyone else did this they’d be shamed by others. I get it gonz is a legend but..
I really hate to hate on the Gonz but yeah.... I know what you’re saying.
Michael Akers i mean i don’t hate on gonz, i love how he’s so free and stuff haha. But i mean theres so many legend skateboarders that don’t have any recognition or have never been recorded before.. gonz just happened to have a ton of cameras around him!
He's paid his dues. Besides even he himself says he's an artist before anything.
Everything wrong about skateboarding presented by the only man who truly represents everything right about skateboarding
Adlibbed by the man with the stiffest view on skateboarding :)
this is high culture
Stiff crowd.....Gonz feeling the perplexed glances of clueless onlookers, but still fierce style and organic motions. Hero and a role model.
I think he was trying to show that skateboarding should be childlike and creative, skateboarding is not just doing crazy tricks and going huge, it is about having fun and being creative.
I’m I an idiot if I don’t get it?
Al King no
I guess we’re all idiots
You're an idiot for improper grammar
His brain just works different
not enough bike kickflips
out of a bank curb maybe
I dont want to cringe
But I do
Still love gonz he the dude
The Gonz doing performance art, fucking sick. And to the people that don’t understand that’s ok, think of it as freeform dancing; a dispersement of energy in that moment.
Are we really supposed to act like this shit is dope?
You’re not supposed to understand
Pipe!

Gonz don't really GAF...He's earned it, so settle down.
I love gonz
🤷🏿♂️
What do you call the photographers??
He's a fucking legend and this is a dope performance.
The more years he has the bigger is his board
can anyone explain any part of this?

Welcome to most "art" exhibits. Mostly BS.
I do those same maneuvers on my fingerboard.

this is quite an odd performance..
Drugs are bad mmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay
The music is so bad lol
JAYR PRADO get the fuck out
Luca Smith idk if gonz chose this music. I feel like it'd been cooler if he had a say but then again i'm not gonz
Nick McCack yeah true that but he done this in the past he’s just done it again to show skating can be an art the music was probably the same as when he done it originally
Lorde was 1 year old 20 years ago.
Nick McCack he was in the video for the first song
MG's trademark spontinaety? 🤔
i was always suspicious that Gonz could be a kook, this confirms my suspicions.
Everybody need a paycheck.
I thought the choreographed freestyle days were long gone. Do the doors symbolize Gonz coming off as wack?
boring shit nothing to do with art ;D
I don't get art.

So weird! But I bet he got paid$$$$
Modern art fucking blows
This worst skater at the skate park vibes 🗿😎😂😆🛹🖤🗽🌊🔥⚛️
