Welcome back onboard Wave Rover 2, my backyard built 21ft Junk rig, that has sailed from Atlantic Canada, down the East coast of the US, from Virginia beach to the Azores and is now on her way to Ireland. What could possibly go wrong...
Great to see you back again. Electricity is a nice thing. My dad called issues like you had, “a short”. He always pulled out the volt / ohm reader. Best of luck. By the way, your friend who flew in for the repair, is a great friend.
There’s nothing like hoisting sail and taking your departure … especially with a steak in your tummy and all systems go on the boat! Bon voyage and hold fast! ⛵️🇨🇦⚓️🌞
Hello Alan , it was lovely meeting you and your wonderful wife Mrs. Wave Rover in Dublin Airport. We hope that the rest of your adventures go as well as this one . Robbie West ireland 😀
I am really impressed by this little plywood and fiberglass boat, and more so by your seamanship and bravery. Imagine taking on the Atlantic Ocean, water water every where and not a drop to drink😅. Oh blowing that shell reminds me of how the fishermen gets customers attention on my country 😂. Wishing you a safe and trouble free journey to Ireland.
Oh my, what a pleasure to see that marina. I have so many fond memories of that harbor, that town, that island. I made a half dozen trans-Atlantic sails from here in the US Virgin Islands in my formative years, luckily when I was too naive to know the dangers, especially on the early sails. I hope you had a gin and tonic at Peter Cafe Sport because, Skipper, you well deserved it. Good luck, and have a safe sail to Ireland. Love the mural! That ritual will guarantee good winds and a safe passage.
🤠👏Mr Rover , it looks like you are well rested😆👍..I wish you fair winds and following seas🙏👋👋👋Have a very enjoyable and safe trip....lots of love❤to you and Mrs Rover , from St Kitts👍😀👋👋👋 You be safe now🙏
This is Epic Alan! Ive mentioned i sailed as a kid/teenager. Our family were originally from Bantry Bay, Ireland and we can trace our family back to Eric the Black. So we had a history of fishing boats out of Bantry bay, we ended up in the Royal Navy in Bermuda, before my GG Grandfather became the first ships surgeon to South Australia. His brother serves on HMS Terror and Eribus during the Ross expeditions to Antarctica and we have cliffs named after us there. My GG grandfather and his dad wrote a book called Mid Somer Isle which is a book of historical interest and is in the british museum. Basically life in Bermuda with illustration. So! Im very excited to sit back here in the beautiful blue mountains with a coffee and watch this adventure unfold! All my best Simon
I must have missed your arrival v8deo!! If so, I have a good excuse! Hellene caused terrible how damage! Uninhabitable until it's made otherwise. Never seenweather in the mountains like that. I sure wish fair winds and seas toyou, WAVE ROVER!!
Alan I have to say that while I watched this episode I felt a little more connected to you and Wave Rover II. I cooked up a seafood omelette and it was delicious! At first I was glad that I was cooking it up outside lol 😅 but that added to the ambience. The mackerel had quite the fishy aroma but as the omelette browned the fishy smell went away and then it brought back memories of my mother cooking up salmon croquettes when I was a child . The omelette even had a similar taste to the croquettes. I really enjoyed the experience and will be putting these in my breakfast routine. Fair winds my friend let the adventure continue!
Must be good having the electricity back! Bloody luxury as monty python would say. Interesting seeing the junk rig dead downwind as you left Porta. Not used to seeing a boom being able to be eased so far forward ... an advantage over the bermudan rig
Hi Alan. Great to see you happily out to sea again. Thanks for making mention of the electrical problem and terrific to know that you're now back to full electrical power. Did you build any more redundancy into the electrics, or did you use all your previous equipment? Smooth seas!
Happy to see you with that nice big steak - probably back to the seafood omelettes soon! Hope that sore throat cleared up! Is there any way to see the date these videos were filmed? Thanks and safe sailing!! ⚓️
Just happened to see the new video was uploaded (available in DK) 2 minutes ago, so I had to stop everything, grab'nopen my favorite bear (Rough Snuff II, based on the illegal Rough Snuff), find the couch, watch and enjoy. Great video as always⛵ Seeds and fertilizer for dreams.
Am I the only one that wonders if it is really a good idea to take off solo from the Azores to Ireland with a cold? Maybe I overvalue health. Hope you are 100% well soon.
Another great video, Alan! Can you give us the name and contact info of your weather router? I'd like to be able to discuss retaining him for a future "adventure" of my own. Thank you in advance for doing so.

You said that you did not have a meter. by that, I assume that you meant a multi-meter. Did you get one in Horta. Given that you can pick up a cheap one at any hardware or auto parts store, I cannot imagine going to sea without at least two.
I dont like having a ghost repair. If you take something apart put it back together and tryout. Oh well.alls good. Suggestion if i may. Get a winch for your sail. To me it looked like to much back going into raising the sail. What sait was on that card? Safe journey God bless thank you
Good morning my captain, Mr. Mullholand from Argentina Buenos Aires. Land of meat from multiple British breeds and original Cruze. The most famous Bife (Steak) de chorizo. If you don't worry about the electrical system, there are always much more losses in 12 volt circuits than in 24 volt circuits. This loss is accompanied by changes in temperature, salinity in the environment, shaking, humidity and eating a Macarela tortilla 🤣 What a nice steak, Wow! ¿Don't have onion or garlic and some McCain fries potatoes on the side? As you go up in latitude, the meat is tastier, especially in Ireland and England and in the Hebrides. P.S. I am preparing to navigate the Patagonian fjords 🇦🇷🇨🇱 especially the climate and the safe INLET , thank goodness there are no bears 🐻but there are foxes 🦊 lots of marine fauna and birds 🐳🐧🦐🦀 Good Luck. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@RoversAdventure So, take care of yourself because you will need a New Wave Rover, another design and material, perhaps aluminum, the salinity in that southern area is very low, due to the constant flow of fresh water from the Andean mountain range. So it will be, BE DONE 🇨🇦

Nothing from the beautiful island of Horta, the scenery, houses, people, food and music ? I am very disappointed, just a quick look at the portoffice in the marina.
@@RoversAdventure All right ! Because, you know, what do you actually see at a ocean crossing ? The boat, the sail, the sea, your famous omelette, it gets a bit boring after a while. It would have been nice, to see some scenery of the places you visit, that is, what I at least was hoping for. Anyway, another question : Why Ireland , It will be cold and stormy there, why not the Canary Islands, where it is nice and warm ? Ireland in the winter is dangerous, too ! I remember, when I was there, in september, it was so stormy, that even the fisherman did not go out at sea for three weeks !

Man, you look happy and fit, having fun and meeting love;y people along the way. Obviously you made it to Ireland.
Thanks Glenn
"Next stop...Ireland". If I ever utter those words from my own boat, I will pinch myself. Forge ahead Wave Rover!

Less than $100 U.S.- consider getting a hand-cranked 12v dynamo; it might get you enough juice as a backup to keep emergency coms operating.
Waving Rover Bye Bye…. Into the night you shall pass in solitude. And I learned there’s another Baltimore
