ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දුම්රිය සේවය ආරම්භ වුණේ 1864 වසරේදීයි. ජපානයේ දුම්රිය සේවය 1872 දී පමණ ආරම්භ වුවත් අද වනවිට ජපානය ශ්‍රී ලංකාව පසුකර බොහෝ දුර ගොස් තිබෙනවා.
ජපන් බුලට් දුම්රියේ උපරිම වේගය පැයට කිලෝමීටර් 360කි. මෙය උණ්ඩයක හැඩයෙන් නිර්මාණයකොට තිබීම තවත් සුවිශේෂී ලක්ෂණයකි. එසේම ශබ්දය අවම කෙරෙන හා උපරිම වායු ප්‍රතිරෝදී වන ලෙස මෙය නිර්මාණය කර ඇත. මෙම දුම්රියේ විශේෂම ලක්ෂණය වන්නේ හදිසි විදුලි විසන්ධිවීමකදී වුවත් ළඟම දුම්රිය ස්ථානයට ධාවනය කළ හැකි බැටරියක් අන්තර්ගත වීමයි. බැටරියක් මගින් ධාවනය කළ හැකි පළමු දුම්රිය ලෙස මෙය ඉතිහාසයට එක්ව තිබෙනවා.
1964 දී ශින්කන්සෙන් ධාවනයට එක්වූ දා සිට මේ දක්වා කිසිදු අනතුරක් නොවීමේ රහස වන්නේ, ධාවනයට යොදවා ඇති දුම්රිය දින විස්සකට වතාවක් පුංචි ඇණයේ සිට සියලු කොටස් පරීක්ෂා කර බැලීම නිසායි.
The maximum speed of the Japanese bullet train is 360kph. Another unique feature is that it is designed in the shape of a bullet. It is also designed to minimize noise and maximize wind resistance. The special feature of this train is that it contains a battery that can run to the nearest station even in case of sudden power cut. This has gone down in history as the first train that can be driven by a battery.
Since the Shinkansen started running in 1964, the secret to not having any accidents until now is that the trains used to run have been checked every 20 days from the small peg to all the parts.
