Trying to Get to You was originally released in 1954 by The Eagles (not the California rock group from the 1979s) - an R&B band on Mercury.
Elvis first recorded it in 1955 on Sun but it wasn’t released until 1956 on his debut album - renamed Tryin’ to Get to You.

Elvis was more than just a performer, I think.
I don't know of you know this but Elvis was one of the most generous people.
One time when a group of fan girls literally ripped the shirt he was wearing off of him and he was later asked in an interview of he was bothered or upset by the incident, Elvis replied, "No, sir, I'm not. They [his fans] bought the clothes on my back. If they the shirt off of my back, they can have it."

That leather suit was the worst thing in the world for someone that sweats as bad as Elvis did to wear! He probably had to peal the trousers off when he changed clothes, you could really see him starting to sweat as he was singing that song.
The wardrobe department really dropped the ball on that costume, I almost feel bad for him wearing it knowing how burning hot he must of got wearing it.
If you ever watched the show "Friends" wear Ross buys leather pants, that scene is hilarious! But really shows how hot you can get wearing those. LOL

Elvis was hesitant about wearing the black leather suit and asked Priscilla if she thought he'd look silly in it. If only he knew how much the ladies are still loving him in that suit to this day. They actually had to cut the seams to get him out of it to clean it between tapings because of the extreme sweating.
