- Testing the 9,000 rpm 4N-N55r26!
Initially this engine was developed in our 135i 6 speed manual test car. Last year I decided to install it into the M4 GT4 build with the Samsonas sequential transmission since at the time MHD + was available for F series N55/S55 mevd17 DME and I really wanted the updates and the GT4 build is built for racing/ high speed testing. The E series N55 MHD+ was also not yet available. After breaking the diff and the 135i needing lots of suspension and chassis work it made sense to test it in the M4! The N55r26 performed flawlessly in our GT4 build. In these clips some videos boost was set around 25-26psi estimated 650whp. The perfect power level for road racing!
Since I had time to work on the 135i with no engine I fixed all the worn suspension components and installed solid subframe bushings. I also developed an electric power steering hydro pump system! Now the 135i utilizes an S55 oil pan and sump system. No more oil starvation and less drag on the accessory drive belt due to not spinning a mechanical power steering pump. Now that the 9K rpm 135i build is back together I will get a build breakdown video posted soon. Stay tuned and thanks for watching 🤘
