Having watched each and every episode of this series I have to say that this is unequivocally some of the best journalism I have seen in quite a while. At first I was amazed that such quality reporting about our own f-ed up election and political system came out of Australia. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that it is truly an indictment of the American media system as a whole. It seems that no network or platform in the US has the wherewithal or the balls to do something like this. Kudos to ABC for this example of first rate journalism.
Can we please get this level of coverage BEFORE the 2025 Australian election? I know the ABC has been scared of accurately covering Aussie politics since Howard cut funding and ScoMo filled the board with former Liberal politicians but the media has a responsibility to inform the voters.
The title of this excellent series is looking increasingly prophetic. From recent developments it's obvious that America is clearly in deep, deep trouble.
The best coverage of the US election anywhere. As a Brit, I enjoyed the "Who Broke Britain" series, but this one was a different level. Hope there's more in-depth series in the future!
As a Canadian, I fear I'll soon be experiencing the same sensation with respect to the next federal election here that's likely to see a Trumpish right-wing acolyte voted into power.
If you believe the propaganda from either your Democrats or Republicans ok I agree with you and you should be ashamed. If you don't then hold your head high.
What gets me is that they don't se that they're the main target and victims of his con, they just don't get it. But if something happens, maybe they get hit financially, I think,at least I hope, a lot of them will start waking up. American here. I voted for Harris and have been severely sick to my stomach since the election. I definitely feel like our nation is lost. And Trump is a master manipulator. He used people’s anger against them. I see now how Hitler did it. I am very afraid now. I never thought this would happen.

Biden in his second day of office signs executive orders about trans rights in sports yet does nothing for years to address the border crisis. The only bit you left out was Trump’s ability to capture headlines. That woman can complain all she likes about a ‘biased media’ but Trump got all the headlines in a way the Harris campaign could not. In short, it doesn’t matter what you say as long as they spell your name right. When he was not in the headlines, his popularity dwindled but as soon as he announced his intention to run again he was news again. And the more outrageous he became, the more insatiable became the public’s appetite for stuff about him. Sunlight did not disinfect.

The health of democracy relies on the integrity of the parts contained within . Trump did not rise alone, there are many complicit parts - those that thirst for power, and not least a media that's lost its way.

Loved this series. What the Trump voters don't realize is that while our government is far from perfect, it could be A LOT worse. And that's the most likely outcome with Trump. A lot worse.
Aus is 5-10 years behind culture. We follow the US, mellow it a little and mix it into our laconic version. But it's certainly coming for our isolated island.

Imagine this: A foreign network that does a better job at reporting news than our domestic broadcasters. Ah, that would be the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation). They do great work, and I rely on that foreign perspective, along with other foreign outlets, to receive balanced news reporting. Then Musk had illegal lotteries and fraudulent voter registration websites and was human trafficking black laborers from the south into michigan and Pennsylvania tricking them into working for Trump and flying them across the country and then informing them once they got to the destination that they would be working for the Trump campaign and if they didn't hit a ridiculously high number of targets, that they would be stuck and stranded in other states and would not be paid or have their lodging or travel back home paid for. And sleepy Joe did nothing about all of this.

Unfortunately I am forced to use Rumble because for some reason it streams the SLS (Street Skateboarding League). The ads are literal scams and the most common emoji in the chat is trumps face. Why the premier skateboarding league is on this boggles the mind.

It’s a Carnivale where the main attractions are playing an inverted version of themselves. The thing about a carnivale is that most people get tired of the craziness which is why it only lasts for one day a year, but some prefer it to normal life. And IMHO that is why so many are leaving Xitter and moving to BlueSky. One day or week a year of disruptive craziness a is enough.

Unfortunately I am forced to use Rumble because for some reason it streams the SLS (Street Skateboarding League). The ads are literal scams and the most common emoji in the chat is trumps face. Why the premier skateboarding league is on this boggles the mind.

There's another problem: censorship is totally contrary to a fundamental idea in American culture - freedom of expression.
And it was not a perception that Trump was victim of censorship - he was indeed victim of censorship.
NOTE: I'm not American - I'm Brazilian. I have always voted for what in the US would be considered "extreme left" but we here call "social democracy" or center left leaning towards the center and not the left.
