    I just watched the one you did last year - Naples at night. I love love love your videos. I've watched a few of them over many times so that when I visit that city/town I know where to go by following the landmarks, stores, scenery, etc., you show in your videos. I don't need a map when I have you! Anyway, Mele Kalikimaka to you and your family. Next year, I hope to visit again, I miss it so much. Thanks to you I can look back at the memories and look forward to new ones!!

    Your walking tour of Naples here was so helpful for us orientating us around. We also used a bit of Rick Steve's guided walk of Naples. We visited on Friday 3rd May 2024. It was pretty busy but not too much. We loved the Xmas Alley - quite bonkers. I think it's great though - taking kitsch to a very serious level of artistry. We were only in Naples for the afternoon and evening really. We spent a good amount of time in the archaeological museum. It would keep me busy for at least a week visiting the major sites. Thanks for bringing these places to us for a taster!

You can purchase nativity sets here in the United States, but most of them looks so generic. The ones in Italy are much nicer, detailed and more authentic.

    Naples is an interesting and diverse city, I didn't know they had a Metro:)
    Can you imagine a big city here in the States with some blocks dedicated to the Nativity or regular open air meat and produce markets?
    Why is there so much graffiti on all those buildings, it's a shame.?
    Early on while you walked through those narrow streets in the old town, it was really claustrophobic and then back ou into the open and sky. A lot like NYC:)
    What was that huge arched road you walked under the last minute of the video?

      It's a normal thing all over Italy since there have been the attacks on the twin towers in the USA. Then with the terrorist attacks in Europe the surveillance of the cities has increased further, the Italians are used to the presence of soldiers and police in any high-risk place such as museums, stations, squares, churches, etc., and it is reassuring.

    Graffiti any where. No good

  • @Pepello84
    @Pepello84 4 года назад +1

    People, graffiti everywhere means that the place is not gentrified yet, WHICH IS GOOD. You wanna stroll through a city like through a museum, but forget that the city is not there to be left untouched and preserved for the enjoyment of the tourists: people live there and use the spaces as they see fit. You wanna see what it's like to live in an empty museum? Go to Venice, go to Florence, go to Rome even and take a walk in the center in the evening: no people can afford to live there and, when tourists go away, there's no one there to inhabit the palaces etc. It's desolate AF. Naples (and many other cities in South Italy) is almost lucky in this respect, because people still live everywhere tourists wanna go and keep the city alive. FFS buildings are just objects, let people express themselves as they can. Try to understand the phenomenon instead of acting like the Supreme Keepers of Beauty™️

      In short you can't see there is a difference between living in a gentrified museum and living in a graffiti covered dump. People can express on their own houses' walls, not on churches etc. What's to understand? That you are so used to a decaying city that you find it normal?
