  • Kaati Bihu, one of Assam’s three major Bihu festivals, marks the pivotal time when rice saplings are relocated. Unlike the other Bihu celebrations, Kaati Bihu, also called Kongali Bihu, reflects a time of scarcity, symbolised by empty granaries and limited food availability. As a result, this festival is observed with more simplicity and restraint. For Sosida Nanda Bordoloi, an Assamese farmer of two decades, Kaati Bihu is not just a festival but a part of his identity.
This film is a part of ‘Stories from the Ground: Northeast,’ a new film series by The Habitats Trust and Dusty Foot Productions, featuring 50 shorts by local filmmakers that celebrate the culture, traditions, and biodiversity of the region.
