In this video I place the stickers for chords C, F, and G (Do, Fa, and Sol) as well as a thumb sticker to help me communicate to students where I want them to keep their thumb.

Bernadette! Wonderful work! Keep on rockin'! 🙌🤘 Greetings from the 🌍 of 🎶!
I'm moving from a different instrument do you think it's ok if I keep my thumb parallel to my pointer finger
Your videos are cool! Thanks! Also, I love your hair! XD
Love your videos. I play guitar myself and am researching to teach my daughter ukulele.
Aww, that’s so sweet!!! 💕
This is a great idea. But are the stickers hard to get off?
can you please post or show /send a pic of stickers for left handed :)
Where do you find the stickers
I think the stickers on amazon are great, but quite expensive for bubble stickers! So I think I’m going to go to the dollar store to see if I can find some similar stickers there! Thanks for the tips! :)
what is the yellow sticker for? what note?
Great video; thank you for your insight and tips :)
+Gina Vingara thank you! I'm glad you found it useful :)
This is a great idea! I'm going to put these on my 6 yr old nieces ukulele.
+Nieves Huaman she's gonna love how easy it is to play with these dots!
Hi there! I am finding your videos very helpful in beginning to teach uke in my classroom! Can I ask where you got those do re mi posters on the wall behind you? Did you make them or are they available somewhere? They're great! Thanks for everything!

+gladys vc I felt defeated on guitar because of how difficult the chords felt! 😭
A concert ukulele is a safe place to start ;)
Here is a blog post I wrote about the top-selling and highest rated ukuleles on the internet

What tipe of ukulele should I get I am thinking a concert
+Hannah Crawford hi Hannah!! My favorite sizes are the concert and the tenor. What's your budget?
You are definitely a fabulous teacher cant wait to actually play a song 🌈🌈🌈
Do these notes apply to the soprano ukuleles as well, sorry I’m new to this 😊
Shyanna Esquivel yes
I'm teaching my 5 year old and want to do the sticker system but I'm not sure how to mark the A. Any recommendations?
Hi Amanda!
I only mark the C, F and G. Whenever we do chords like A, I just say “one green dot and one empty spot”
This is because I don’t want to fill the fingerboard with dots and make things confusing BUT if you try it and it works, let me know! It’s always good to continue experimenting new ways to teach ❤️
Bernadette Teaches Music I tried using green stickers for the F and putting half of a yellow sticker on the A so it was half green half yellow but he is totally confused by it. Worth a try though! Lol
Hmm... maybe you'll need more colored stickers. Just to get him started the first few months.
Will the stickers ruin the ukulele? I want to do this on mine I'm just scared it will leave marks.
+Maggie Bruckelmyer yes and no. If your ukulele is exposed to sun, then the wood on your fretboard will fade slowly over a long period of time. The wood under the stickers, naturally, will remain the original darker wood color.
However... the stickers are only a tool to get you started. If you only use them for a short period of time (a month or two), then they should come right off. You could test it by putting one sticker on the bottom of the fretboard (near the sound hole) and take it off a few days later. That way you test it on a part of the uke that is not that visible

@@BernadetteTeachesMusic So is this system ideally just as you are learning new chords? And once you've mastered, you would likely remove the stickers? And maybe then add new ones for new(er) chords? Also, to original post, I read that a damp microfiber cleaning cloth can help remove any sticker residue. And also that lemon oil works on the fret board. Cannot vouch for this, but I had read this info from Bondi.
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic - I bought a cheaper uke to put stickers on, to use for private practice at home without possibly damaging my "better" cheap one (like a second Bible to mark to keep my good one pristine); second reason is so my "better" cheap uke can be taken out into public without being scorned (so I can pretend I'm already a player : )
pre work burn out B?
+RavenMadd9 yes!! This is when I had a wonderful balance of work and prep time!!!
Do you teach fixed or movable do?
In Japan it’s fixed do, so I had to adapt!
Very cool to know!
Yeah! My students didn't know "C" was "DO" at first. It was cool to get them to use both interchangeably. They learned something and I did too!
❤
Beautiful lady, great video
+Dream chasing thank you for the sweet compliments! 💛
you just put the blue stickers on without showing where you put them.
You had super long hair !!
crazy, right!? I always wanted to try short hair, so I convinced myself to cut it off and donate it so that I wouldn't miss it as much ❤️❤️
DAM honey! you're beautiful! how you said Ukulele melted me!
I thought it was spelt ukelele this whole time-
Thank you
+shaun meredith thank you too 😊
