did you buy one ? I recently got the costco one, awesome 4hp. 3 trips, aku, ono, rainbow runner, mahi, and a couple days ago monster uku, like 30 lb. and an monster aha 4ft. aha a big problem at my spot, stealing my opelu all day. Yhey handle went out super rough the other day. washing machine, big swells, got washed over several times, chance em
Depends on the season . Summer is hard to find them and Winter is easy. Its all about putting in the time and you'll figure it out just go slow and be patient,
Opelu generally hang in the same area. so if you find some mark area. bite best real early morning or afternoon starting 330 pm on, I found. when in a real tight ball on finder, I find they dont bite well. when they spread out midwater bite better. I used Garmin striker 4, good like 150. small compact does the job, I use noqua battery. I generally find them 90 to 170 ft shallower schools easier to hook I find.
@@jremodel9294 beyond Helpful especially with the tight ball vs spread out I’ve landed some bait/game since last post but I’m grateful and devour any info, mucho mahalos 🙏🤙🏽
@@AK-ms5zk what you fishing from? Had a AI kayak. sold that. wish i bought an inflatable first. better and less cost. took a 2 k hit when I sold. which the kayak used motor and set up was only 2k for the inflatable. The one at costco. wish I bought it years ago when I saw it locally was under 700. now not found locally . got costco online 770, tax plus 120 shipping. but arrived at door in less than a week. running 4hp yamaha. have a 2.5 suzuki. 3 gallon external tank, good for a couple trips. filling up internal tank at sea. did that once. hassle. Found a good spot, windward side , In 3 trips, aku, rainbow runner, ono, mahi, 4 ft aha, and 30 lb uku. monster . caught that on friday. was crazy rough windward side. handled ok, just soaked all day. So what side you been fishing?
@@jremodel9294 30# uku is at the upper end, but yea I got a Newport vessel 9.5 with a 5 Hp tohatsu. I realized early on that the kayak guys have an advantage finding bait because they’re like ninjas quietly slipping over them not disturbing random balls, but i as a lifelong beginner figured out to copy the boat guys and more or lessish kinda found the opelu akule spot/ko’a 🤷🏾♂️, also found like jigging and dragging plastics because I’m to slow for skirts but a beefed up yozuri bangs at 4 knots everything aku, uku, ulua, omilu, mahi, rats, even blue bone like you said and with a 5 Hp 1.5 gal is 8 hrs trolling and jigging stationary. So I’ve kinda evolved from live bait and pelagics to like artificials and angling it’s wierd but it’s cheap and subsistence and fair weathe only but yea that’s me/us we’re in Hilo, eh Mahalo again ✌🏾
