Lluvia (LLUVIA, pronounced yuviuh) is Spanish for rain. Very fitting for their environment, and a fitting video to share that info in 😁 @tedtimmis8135, Crew is recovering from a tumor removal surgery. He is also an older pup, and can't move around like he used to. He's usually hanging out inside the camper where it's more temperature controlled, but they do take him for (short) walks regularly. Also, he and Lluvia don't really seem to get along (last I saw them together, maybe a year ago?) so they've pretty much always kept them separate.
Jess, my husband is a visual person too. It's ok everyone is different and that is why we complement each other. I'm excited for the new addition to your house
Hi, love all the plans and everything and I’ve been watching you guys for a very long time but I wish you finish your dome then move on, because at this rate, it’s gonna take you 10+years to build this house Even we’re gonna Dome for I think three years now.
We love your ideas to making your living quarters is a beautiful ideal of your wife planning it out on the ground like that you guys are awesome. May God keep you safe and warm throughout this time.
Everything is coming along nicely. I can’t wait to see your vision come to life. Food for thought… You may want to consider installing a wet room style walk in shower, in the bathroom with outside access. That way you could have an area to easily wash the dogs. Cleanup could mostly involve using a hose, with a sprayer. You could also install something that you could clip a short leash to, to make it easier to keep them in place. Best of luck!
Yah, I have been wondering about Crew too. A room was mentioned for the female dog but not for Crew. I think he was originally Jess's brothers dog, her brother was with them for awhile not too long ago but no longer, could he have resumed ownership of Crew and Crew be off living with him? I could've missed some news about Crew, it just feels like he's not there. I feel like if Crew had passesd we would know about it.
Hi Jess and Jim, how exciting for the next build. Looking forward to it, thank you for sharing your journey with us, and I will definitely be watching your build.😊 Good luck
I am sure you know this however after you have hooked propane up just to be sure you don’t have any leaks take a squeeze bottle with water and a little dish soap in it and squirt it on the hose and if it doesn’t bubble you don’t have any leaks… just a small precaution 🥰 you two are so awesome 🥰🥰 thank you for sharing your life with us 🩷 God Bless and Gods Speed 🙏
Hi Jess and Jim, I have been watching a few car fabricator videos and they use CAD, Cardboard Aided Design, to make panel templates. You are using rocks so I will call it RAD!
Great measuring stick! And Love your GAbion box around the post of your house. Always enjoy your videos. You guys are super motivated and resilient. Keep it up.
Having a straw bale garden inside your house? Straw bale gardens need tons of water to activate the bales. Where does the water drain to? How do you cope with condensation against walls and mildew growing inside the house causing allergies and lung problems?
Girl, you are just adorable. I wonder if you're this sweet in person. Kindness rules.😊 We will finally be moving out to our property soon and o can't wait to get my hands dirty and play with rocks.
I like the plans, myself would either make temp shelter over steps of cellar or finalise where walls will bethen do a post and beam system with either 4x4 or 6x6 posts once headers and top plates are on you could do shed style roof with over hang so low winter sun can enter but high summer sun would cast shade. You could have two sections of shed style roof making south greenhouse wall the highest say 12 foot sloping to north using 16 foot 2x6 as rafters the higher roof drops down to lower roof which you tin so you could collect massive amounts of extra water. Then working from top down you would have shade and be out of rain fill in between posts with bales and render them for very fast and cheap build. Or you could ask some greenhouse places to sponsor you and get a kit from them and build greenhouse directly over root cellar. Would hate to see another flood wreck the cellar. Interested to see what your plans are.
One simple and accurate way of checking the propane level is to pour some hot water on the side of the propane tank, and then feel it with your hand. Everywhere there is propane touching the side of the tank the steel will cool off very quickly. The portion of the tank above the level of propane will cool off much slower so you can easily feel the level of the propane.
Jim wouldn't it be more efficient to keep your cistern TOP off? Intead of the poly tanks? Keeping the poly tanks empty at all times to collect rain at the MAX. Sounds like the right order of things. It just seems backwards the way it is now when you think about it.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Everything looks great on your homestead. Has an exterior type been decided on for the domehouse. The rock and lime looks nice on the very top too! Love your channel.
What was going on with the big cistern with the Gabion wall? Noticed you haven't Mentioned anything about that and seem to avoid talking about it... or forget to mention it? Glad everything is still moving forward and should be exciting to see how your guys greenhouse builds up. ✌🏾
Hey Jim how you doing today hope everything is fine hope everybody's having a great time out there so hope everything is going to hold up I think this one's a lot better job than you did before keep up the good work and just be happy and just take care of each other❤❤❤❤❤
As a hardy desert dweller for 7 years I have a few lessons on dealing with 120plus days in the summer' Now I live in a 640sqft tiny house built in 1960. It is well designed for the extreme heat of the Mojave desert. If I was building a homestead from scratch in these extreme heat conditions, I would go under ground for a house like your root cellar. By going underground using the earth to cool the house in the summertime and to keep warm in the winter.
Hey guys, looking forward to hearing about what construction technique you're going to use next. Just a suggestion...you might consider swapping the pups room with the kitchen so that the kitchen is next to the laundry room to consolidate the plumbing to the same area...putting the plumbing on a shared wall. Since your laundry room is going to have an exterior door anyway, you could put a toilet in there for easy access from outside. For that matter, you could also move the bathroom to the location of the laundry and put the laundry between the bathroom and kitchen to consolidate all the plumbing in the house. Just some ideas.
I'm excited to see the next part of your home from the planning through completion. You've learned so much from building the dome that will definitely help guide your decisions during the next phase. It'll be interesting to see how it comes together with what you've already built, it sounds like Jess has some clear ideas about the best placement of rooms and I'd bet she can already visualize them and what creative stamp she can put on the finishing touches. ❤
You are making such great progress. It's really great to see the plans for the house coming together for the next phase. One of the joys of building slowly is the chance to 'live with' the space for a while. I love what you have come up with.
Concerning floor layout... Work in the trade winds, for fresh air. Do not waste a corner of the house on a bathroom. Some people are allergic to the soil surface of a green house. Make sure to work the layout on the computer and try to live it as best as possible. Do not skimp on the counter top and storage.
I luv your ideas. May I suggest you cut some cardboard or use your rocks to outline your items (including the toilet and the area needed around it) to get a better idea of your space and the area you need to move around. It is always surprising how much space an appliance or bathroom fixtures take. Thanks for sharing this video.
firsst YOUR LOOKING FANTATIC and I to need to be in the space. I love the idea o th elaundry room , please consider adding a shower so that when you have worked outside you can come in , put your clothing to be washed , take a shower and not muddy up your home, les time having to clean the house! put a drain in the laundry room for easy floor cleaning with a hose. Have the used water go through a bio plant filter that can act as a peaceful pond in side the green house, thereby allowing you to use the recycled laundry and bath water to water the green house and create a nice winter sitting room and then from there it can go out to the orchard...just a thought but thats what im doing what i finally get to that point! be blessed
Where the kitchen extends over the root cellar have a hoist shaft to bring heavy items up and down. This might also go to a higher level if there is a second floor.
First and foremost, love your channel. Been a sub for a long time. Ok. I assumed the dome was/is going to be your house. Maybe, I missed an episodes. Makes sense now with the cellar. Again...huge fan! I don't want to come across as "that guy", but the dome isn't really finished yet and it seems like you've been working on that for years now. Is there going to be more of a sense of urgency with the house build?
Yuvia knows she lives in a desert. All moisture is precious. Would use her "moisture" on the outside. Wouldn't want the aroma inside inside the dome 😅 Let me guess straw bale construction for the next phase of the house. (Spoiler alert ) To have a roof before July. Just guessing Congratulations Looks like a great floor plan.
I would still put actemporary cover over those steps down to root cellar... preventing is the answer rather than see if it floods down there. Even if its covered with chipboard
Wow that is way bigger than I pictured! Very cool! After you hinted at not using earth bags for this part I was thinking that you guys might go with a bale-and-cob structure for the second part of the house, since IIRC you guys were surprised how much you enjoy working with cob. So I'm not sure about the straw bale part but I'd bet cob will play a big part in it. And I just searched it up and watched the interview with your neighbors Karen and Bob about their house from several years ago, and in fact Bob said he'd use more straw bales if he had to build again. They built an open timber frame with a roof first and then just build a windowless straw bale wall and three cob walls underneath. I really like the monoslope/shed roof idea, too...I've long since thought that if I ever build that's what I'd want. I really dislike how all the cookie cutter, stick-built houses have a hundred little hips and valleys for no reason other than people think it looks nice. To me it looks like they want the roof to fail faster.
Exciting times to be planning the rest of your house. That southern greenhouse will be so nice! I think flow... easy access from indoor garden and root cellar to kitchen prep area. Is there an option being considered without going thru/around the bathroom or Lluvia's room between greenhouse, root cellar and kitchen? Also, you have these beautiful vista's around you. Hope your plans include ways to view and enjoy them from inside. It's exciting to see you planning the next big step.❤😊
Thanks for watching! We have some awesome ideas to finish the house. We'll have more details in the next video.
please start with the roof over the cellar first and than the rest of the house ...head and feet first to kep all warm and dry!
Recommend against having a bathroom near your cooking area. 😊 But it's the first room you'll need.
I remember when you first came home with u vee(?), she was scared, shy, unsure......she has really changed. Loving, caring, protecting. The best pet.
What happened to the other dog?
Lluvia (LLUVIA, pronounced yuviuh) is Spanish for rain. Very fitting for their environment, and a fitting video to share that info in 😁

Jess, you have such a great creative approach to life's problems. It's such a joy seeing opportunities through your eyes!
Jess, my husband is a visual person too. It's ok everyone is different and that is why we complement each other. I'm excited for the new addition to your house
I know you have plans, I wished you would finish the outside of the dome. Looks like it slowly deteriorating. Love your channel.
Hi, love all the plans and everything and I’ve been watching you guys for a very long time but I wish you finish your dome then move on, because at this rate, it’s gonna take you 10+years to build this house Even we’re gonna Dome for I think three years now.

😂😂via kissing the camera. I jumped. Thanks for the first kiss of 2024, frankly many years not counting momma kisses.
Everything is coming along nicely. I can’t wait to see your vision come to life.
Food for thought…

We designed our Strawbale home with all the plumbing in one wall. One side of the wall is kitchen and the other is bathroom and laundry room.
I hope all is well with Crew🐾❤️
Yah, I have been wondering about Crew too. A room was mentioned for the female dog but not for Crew. I like her method of planning out the addition. It feels more real than on a computer or even on paper
Hi Jess and Jim, how exciting for the next build. Looking forward to it, thank you for sharing your journey with us, and I will definitely be watching your build.😊
Good luck

Hi Jess and Jim, I have been watching a few car fabricator videos and they use CAD, Cardboard Aided Design, to make panel templates. You are using rocks so I will call it RAD!
Propane tanks are full at 80% here in rural Central Wisco. It's a safety thing, they leave room for expansion.
Interesting plans but a lot of work. Good luck with all the projects.
How come you don't talk about the cistern? Is it not holding water?
Hope things go well for you all and God bless!
Looks like you'll have your dream house in no time guys!😎
Great measuring stick! And Love your GAbion box around the post of your house. Always enjoy your videos. You guys are super motivated and resilient. Keep it up.
I have noticed that both of you are very happy, ❤😊.
Having a straw bale garden inside your house? Straw bale gardens need tons of water to activate the bales. Where does the water drain to? How do you cope with condensation against walls and mildew growing inside the house causing allergies and lung problems?
Good question. Very important to think about.
How is Crew? Never see him any more.
You really proved out the root cellar stairway. Very nice. Thanks for the goodness.
Girl, you are just adorable. I wonder if you're this sweet in person. Kindness rules.😊 We will finally be moving out to our property soon and o can't wait to get my hands dirty and play with rocks.
Have fun!

I have ALWAYS loved the sound of rain in the desert.
Doesn't have to be the desert for me, rain is always a great sound; especially with some low, deep thunder in the background.
you guys have such a beautiful relationship

There's a difference between wanting to do it and needing to get it done😕.carry on
I think I would put the master bedroom on top of the root cellar and use the dome as your main living space.
The dome will be the main living space.
You guys did a really good job on root cellar and water mitigation great job😊
What was going on with the big cistern with the Gabion wall? Noticed you haven't Mentioned anything about that and seem to avoid talking about it... or forget to mention it? Glad everything is still moving forward and should be exciting to see how your guys greenhouse builds up. ✌🏾
I’m glad to see you’re works g on the inside walls.. get the outside sealed!
You might think about making the kitchen where you can access the root cellar?
Hey Jim how you doing today hope everything is fine hope everybody's having a great time out there so hope everything is going to hold up I think this one's a lot better job than you did before keep up the good work and just be happy and just take care of each other❤❤❤❤❤
I’m so excited to see how the rain affected the cellar!
Brilliant couple love the videos thank you very much ♥️👀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's lovely to see you envisaging your extension onto your home. What are your plans for the dome? Did you plan to finish it inside and move in there?
As a hardy desert dweller for 7 years I have a few lessons on dealing with 120plus days in the summer'

Pluss water storage from the new big roof area
Am just here for this week on OSRL 😂😂😂
It's just too cute.

😮 an amazing vision.
Jessie give us a drawing of the house 'to-be'.
So you are not going to live in the dome? I don't get it?
May God keep on blessing you throughout your life out there my good friends
How about update on cistern water.
That's a lot of work for the both of you guys , I'll be watching . Good luck 👍 .
Love the fact adhering to your environmental off-grid principles.
If any channel deserves to grow its yours.
Great couple great message.
How much water is in the underground tank?
So cool enjoy the rain my friends.
I think I saw that method on the Flintstones.
Exciting times ahead building your home.
How full is the citern??...
This next phase is going to be so interesting to us. We’re in early planning stages and your experiences help guide us. Thanks, stay warm and dry.🌵✨🐓
You got this!
Could you put an outside door on the outside wall of bathroom and use more efficiently the toilet and sink already in….just a thought
So much future orientating. !! Thanks again JJ
Nice work on your builds. have you thought of making a set of traditional storm doors for the cellar? They would solve the flooding
how is the big tank below ground doing?
I'm excited to see the next part of your home from the planning through completion. You've learned so much from building the dome that will definitely help guide your decisions during the next phase. Thank you for showing your house plans! Explains so much. You both are awesome.
Hello my friend I always jive 👍up love from Ireland
i've been watching for a while, i love how much Jess has changed.
Boy the house will be amazing, I like the head to the outside I can't wait for many videos to come on the house build. Jess and Jim are killing it .
It's great seeing the plans roll out. This is going to be exciting.
Are you going to build with bags again?
You are making such great progress. It's really great to see the plans for the house coming together for the next phase. One of the joys of building slowly is the chance to 'live with' the space for a while. I love what you have come up with.

Really looking forward to your future construction and wish you much success.

We've had almost 9 inches of rain here in Houston in January! We just had 5 days in a row
really enjoyed the walkthrough. can't wait to see all that indoor growing space!
Can’t wait t see what you create❤
Jess your hair looks nice (you cut it).👍
Lluvia says mama is for loving and Jimmy is for biting .
I hope it does well all the time.
very cool... I will go back over and envision
How does the cob on the outside of the dome hold up in the rain.? Love your show, so relaxing and yet I know you and Jess work very hard.
Don'''t forget hall ways or walk ways
