The musical chemistry between these two was something special to see! Amazing performance!
Ren met Sam Tompkins early in his own busking career. He had finished for the day & was headed home because he didn't feel well. He came across 16 y.o. Sam on his 1st day of busking. He was a nervous-looking kid, singing on the street with no equipment but Ren said he could hear the talent. He offered him his equipment & then he sat on the ground & accompanied him for an hour or so. And he insisted Sam keep all the tips.

Sam Tompkins has been exploding lately. He got to open for Bieber one time, which was huge for him.

These two were a amazing duo at at special time. Ren is always working with stellar folks, but there's something special about the relationship Sam and Ren developed and it shows.

Love these two together. Blind Eyed is my favorite. And there are about 5 versions. My favorites are mc sessions for sound quality or the ft angry car park attendant for pure fun and talent. But you can't go wrong with anything by either of them.

When the big push started, Ren was the drummer ( he claims not to be very good, but I don't beleve him) they eventually poached Glenn from another band, where he was the bass player, and persuaded him to play drums for the big push.

BTW, they didn't go back in and layer it. Ren has a looping pedal. :) He set it up when the camera panned away, unfortunately, so you couldn't see it happen.
I guess you did decide that was the case by the end of the video. =) That's what I get for commenting while I'm watching.

@@setonhillstudios - The first time I watched it, Ren's improvisation at the end felt too discordant for me to appreciate, but as I've watched the perfomance a bunch of times, I came around to feeling it. It feels like the sort of guitar improvisation that sounds discordant but is actually kind of magical that you'd get from Hendrix or Prince.

@@StephenJacob I agree! There is something to being imperfectly perfect! Especially, in todays production style that is quantized, auto tuned, and overly processed which sucks the life out of alot of music.

@@setonhillstudios me too! Him and Sam wrote a song called blind eyed. There are about 4 versions. The MC version is probably the best to start with. These collaborations with Sam are about 5 years old. Sam has been touring. Ren has tons more stuff solo as well as the big push. Also collaborations with Chinchilla which are great.
