- How do you get buttery flakey puffy pastry every time? Follow this amazingly simple tutorial with Sally....it’s really that easy. No more buying ready made puff pastry from the store, now you can make your own with 3 simple ingredients and and very little work. You can use this Rough Puff Pastry for all sorts of pie recipes but just remember to cool your pie filling down! To get the maximum puff you need cold pastry and a HOT oven. You need to bake this pastry at 200C so make sure you preheat your oven to get an even bake. An oven thermometer is the best way to check your temperature, you can get yourself one here: cupcakejemma.com/collections/...

5-10 tbsp Ice Cold Water

I made these a couple weeks ago and going to make them again today. I do one half with Cadbury chocolate spread and one half with strawberry jam. Love these so much and everyone I’ve given them to does as well.

Nice tip with the off cuts. I just started making pastry recently and I was making pies, and used the offcuts to make rough twists to test the pastry and temperature.

Totally excited about trying this!! I like using my cheese-grader to make my butter "tiny". It does melt faster but guess I'll see how it works with this recipe. Thank you!!
Yes most of the bakers do the same!! And that's the only option if you are living in areas with hot climate 😅
If you're using a grater, it works better if you freeze your butter first, stops it melting quite so fast
This is an interesting approach with folding a shortcrust pastry multiple times. I have made rough puff using Paul Hollywood's method of putting grated frozen butter instead of a square/rectangular block that one would do for a proper puff pastry, then folding as usual.
Sally! You always make my day. Like everyday. Whenever i need a recipe i always check this channel and hoping its you doing it. I have the turquoise cpoons and cups too. Lol
Your so right Sally, I bought some puff pastry in a large food store in Canada and after making a dessert I noticed that they didn't use real butter but vegetable fat probably margarine. You make it look so easy to do that I will have to try to make this dough. I tried to make croissants twice and it did not come out right but this looks simple.
