- For today’s Closet Confessions, I thought I’d show you a few Zara finds from a recent midnight shop-up. I’m challenging myself to only buy new clothes if I know they’ll stand the test of time, so I’m investing in good-quality pieces and returning anything that doesn’t quite make the cut. If, like me, you struggle when it comes to deciding what to keep, consider different styling, lighting and makeup options. And don't be tempted to rush into a decision - really consider if these are your wardrobe’s new BFFs, or just fair-weather friends…

There’s a lot to be said for the cleanness and elegance of the muted palette of the clothes you’ve tried on, Trinny. Layering ideas and ability to mix these pieces with other shades and colour will see them become staples in your wardrobe. Thank you for sharing.

I don't know why, but asymmetric trousers make me twitch. The drape, of the last pair of pants, is beautiful, but straight on, one leg looks disproportionately larger than the other and I want to fix it. Love the black suit! Fashion is fun! Thank you!

The black suit was great as was the black layering piece. The oatmeal coat is a great design but I think the wrinkling will drive you mad! However that style coat would look great on Chloe! Thanks for sharing Trinny!

Such a good try on Trinny, you're so good at explaining and of course the clothes look so tailored on your incredible figure. I've just given up sugar and upped my exercise so hoping to get my pre menopause figure back. Also just decided to try a 12 month course of Cosmelan to retrain my over productive melanin cells to finally get rid of my melasma so I can feel it's worth wearing makeup hopefully with the brown patches gone by the end! Love all of them 💕

Trinny have watched you become more intentional and sustainable in your purchases since 2017 but this is perhaps a blind spot. I’d really love you to investigate what happens to all the clothes you return.

Just this week I returned two pairs of pants to Zara, they were scanned, security tag back on and back to the shelves in the store. But I do know that some companies don't bother with restocking returns. Personally I prefer to shop in person and try on the clothes to minimize the issue of not liking something.
Obsessed with the side splits gilet, I imagine wearing it on top of a shiny dress or something full of sparkle. I want it now! :D

Okay I am going to say it. I absolutely resent the boots. It makes people look like Donald Duck. Now I will be crucified by the Trinny London tribe. Do love oatmeal cost and the black suit outfit.
Oh im so glad im not alone! Those ugly clumpy boots the girls wear really spoil the look of what would be a classy look. I also think that when older women wear them rather than make them look trendy and youthful it does the opposite, makes them look desperate to follow a trend. I hope no one is offended its just my opinion and grinds my gears! 😂🤣😂🤣
Completely agree, they make me cringe, Trinny is so stylish except for those. I miss zara shop ups, even if Trinny didn't buy she could talk us through what they have and how to style it.
@@annmcevoy5686You are entitled to your opinion. Honestly I am 53 and wear quite a lot of those type of boots in winter generally with day dresses. I don’t follow trends, it just suits my style. When you get to a more mature age, I found I don’t care what people think of me including what I wear. Spent too much of my life keeping others happy. Have a lovely Sunday ❤
That last two piece - trousers and waistcoat- not too sure about the colour tbh. Also thought the coat looked a bit cheap and kind of droopy.
But the black pieces looked Fabulous in my opinion anyway.

Actually I like them and I think you should keep all the pieces. Agreed with you about the waist coat buttons placements and the high cut of the waist coat collar. The gray pants brought back a memory of a picture of VB wearing a white skirt/pants with a white shirt and a clutch. Always like that outfit on her. I believe that white skirt /pant it was from her own collection. Trinny hope you are enjoying your travels. I haven't been on IG for a week so I will catch up with your stories tomorrow.

Hi Trinny, I just want to say I've used your elastic around leg of trousers for ballon effect on one of our clients who visited us at 'Dress for Success ' where I work as volunteer stylist.
Our client loved the look which changed a formal, nice pant suit to a cool outfit with personality. I'm sure she will get the job! Can you pass on more tips on how to update, transform outfits when your on a budget or trying to be greener.
@bebevicinanza107 What a terrific example of 'pay it forward' you've shared with us here. 👏 Well done for giving that tip a try on a formal cut of suit pant. Some stylists use bands to keep their shirt sleeves, sweater or jacket sleeves pushed up too. Another nice hack for a square or loose shaped sweater or cardigan. Grab a bunch of the fabric at the hemline from the inside. Wrap a hair elastic around the bunch, and tuck it up. Giving the knitwear a cropped or narrower shape at the waistline.
@@comealongcomealong4480 with ladies with fuller bust a t shirt can be formless so I make a small ball of fabric just onder the bust on the inside of the shirt ( preferably with V neck line)secure with elastic band .

I have suit envy. Used to live in suits for work and it was a big shift to a more casual look when I retired. Ordered a trouser suit a while back from Zara and I loved it but suits just don't seem appropriate for my lifestyle now even though they are in atm. Good job I returned as summer is over and know it would still be there with the tag on. Love the black suit and tempted by the trousers which would be very versatile. Not keen on the skirt style trousers or high necked waistcoat though a great colour which does suit you and great with the oatmeal coat. I always do the crease test. Never take anything on holiday or travelling that creases.

Black suit and gilet are keepers. Grey suit is puckering at the seems and oatmeal coat just does not seem special enough for you to keep...

Love the oatmeal coat and black suit-just stunning on you. But the sage green suit looks sickly in hue, is badly cut and is so unflattering (and that’s saying something, as you’d look amazing in a burlap sack!)
Everything looks great on you, but not sure about the grey trousers and waistcoat. Had trousers like that before and they get very creased on the wrap over bit if you sit with your legs crossed so could only wear them when I was mostly standing up!

It’s so hard to see the items and they don’t show the range of colours for all items and many pieces are similarly described so you have to go back and forth between them to try to see what’s the difference?!
Love the black suit with the layering piece l have been looking at Zara online and can't seem to find them could you help me?
The black layering piece/ tunic is similar to a Vietnamese traditional Ao Dai. I wanted to buy it, as I’ve lived in Vietnam for 5 years, but don’t quite feel that the traditional patterned ones are quite right for me, but I couldn’t buy it, along with any waistcoats as I’ve had a double mastectomy and it’s really hard to find tops and dresses that don’t have the darts at the front.

I have that gilet and I sized up to a large, I’m usually a med in Zara a small everywhere else and bought a large in gilet so that I can wear something under if I want and not to snug on me.

Colours all look lovely together. Black suit is such a nice fit. Only feel that the coat isn't long enough, plus sleeves, or maybe it's the proportions..? Also, the buttons are a bit random. Needs no buttons or statement ones higher up!
Black suit looks beautiful and elegant, definitely a keeper. That gilet is funky but still classic and i know that you will wear it for years to come. The coat is okay, that last suit is awful, return it. I would love to see an in person shop up in the store. Do you ever shop at Massimo Dutti? I popped in this week and I saw some lovely pieces, would love to hear your opinion on their clothes.

Trinny, I know people have been calling on you for some time to reconsider the prominence you give to Zara because of their sizing and body image issues. I wonder if their recent appalling ad campaign is the final straw. I, for one, will *never* buy anything from them ever again after that, nor from anyone who endorses them.
