Watch a full tutorial as a 2006 Toyota Prius will have a new backup camera installed to an existing aftermarket radio. This camera will be mounted to the license plate eliminating the need to drill into the rear hatch panel.
This video applies to Toyota Prius models for years 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. This video also includes complete camera wiring, complete installation, and testing.

This is a great video that totally helped my install. Thanks so much. One suggestion…that centered license plate mount camera gets in the way of the hatch release button. On these cars, you’re better off using an offset camera drilled through the license plate light trim panel that you removed. Works a lot better and looks factory. Thanks again!

So wait I thought the only connections you have to make were the power and then the yellow to the aftermarket head unit? That’s it right? And as for running the wire, the side you run it on doesn’t matter right? I planned to run it on the drivers side?

@ProvoBeastAudio: what happens if the Prius already has the original default backup cam installed? Its gonna be replaced with the new or both screen will show the backup camera image?
Original backup screen and camera can remain in replace. Aftermarket radio unit replaced stock radio and goes under car screen. Stock screen is kept for climate and mpg information.

thanks for this its a good help but the video is missing something, you tap the trigger wire (red from the camera) to the tail light then chase the video wire from the back to the front of the car but not the trigger wire, then once you are up front at the head deck a trigger wire appears .. Is the trigger wire integrated with the video wire?
Yes. You can see it earlier in the video. It’s parallel to yellow rca
so the positive wire coming from the yellow plug connects to the radio's reverse trigger?
With this specific wiring configuration, yes.
