54,weight trained for 20 years consistently, still do 5 days a week, train Brazilian jiu jitsu 3or 4 days a week. Never taken any type of hormone, never will. Get your mind right, eat right and learn to listen to your body. Some weeks it's a breeze, some weeks it's a grind but you learn when to push forward and when to ease back.

Elliot, I will be 53 next week and am not on TRT. What I found to work is basically taking care of your health, eating well but not to excess (keep the body fat in check) get sleep and train hard but not excessive or huge amounts of volume. I guess just working smarter and emphasizing recovery as you age. 2-4 days per week max for the strength training. Praying and staying close to God helps me of course as well. Good luck!

@@stoneyj1a1I can tell you I need to be on trt to be optimal at least for now. I don’t have the luxury to proper sleep and rest. I definitely rely on caffeine but not in excess. Coming out of the military and jumping right into law enforcement my T levels were under 200 with all the stress of high risk operations and patrol life. Being on trt has rejuvenated me completely. I get random sleep 4-6 hours, but still workout 5-6 days a week with lifting, mobility training and grappling. So at least I get the recovery benefits rather than feeling shitty. I’m also a family man which I also don’t have the luxury to rest after work. It’s definitely a healthy option for first responders.

52 never used TRT levels are mid 300s. I was very athletic when I was in my teens and 20s. Became a dad and stopped training but now and then played sports. Now I picked up weight training again at 49 and I am stronger than I ever was. I am almost as athletic but my cardio is not at the same level. I look good but I'm not 10 percent Body fat. I am a consist 20 and it looks good on me. You can see my physique in a shirt and I don't look embarrassing with the shirt off. So yeah life is good. Pains here and there so I can't train like I did in my 20s or recover as quick but that's OK. I feel awesome.

i'm 40. when i started my cut back in february, i was struggling with recovery, and i didn't think i could achieve the body i had in my 30s. so, i started heavily researching trt. my levels are pretty low, around 300, and since that's in the normal range, my doctor wouldn't prescribe it to me. so, i called around to independent clinics. everyone was saying if you're 35 and up, you should just get on it. but, i also had to consider the $200 a month bill for the rest of my life. ultimately, i decided not to do it. i pushed through and my cut turned out great. feel like i'm in the best shape of my life. only thing i'm considering now is transitioning from plant based to vegetarian. been plant based for 14 years, but thinking about adding milk and eggs back to my diet. i get enough protein, but plant based protein bar variety is lacking.

I'm 54 been natural all my life but trained very hard. Everything you're describing when you came off TRT sounds to me like the natural progression of aging. I had to change my routine definitely. I haven't programmed in a long time but I still maintain decently.
I used to do a lot of 4x6-8 straight sets heavy but now I pyramid. There was a time I could do Mon/Thur Tues/Fri Wed Leg Day split, now that's basically once a week per body part set spread over about a week and a half for recovery. I'm on the lighter side of weights but not super light. To be honest, I haven't tested since I took a few years break at 47/48.
In that time, I got into bike riding, then tabata/circuit training with weights, then bands and then came back to lifting in early 2023. It's definitely a different game when you're older but you can still get the work in. It's just slower and needs a different strategy.

Last year at age 42 i decided to try Trt as my levels were 350 ng/dl and I felt i needed it to boost my energy and resilence for life. It worked but I came off twice after two separate 10 weeks because i couldn't commit to the permancy of it. I feel fine off it,and levels at least bounced back fine. Also after many weeks of being on it, feel a bit better certainly the first few weeks off. Certainly common wisdom would say either that i need to dial in levels/doses of TRT and stay on just come off and optimise natural production where possible. My thinking right now is I like *cycling* trt (or high normal levels) of testosterone. It's completely against the normal ethos of testosterone replacement, but here I am. Maybe later I'll pick a side and stay there for at least longer time. Right now this works.

In October I will be 60 years old. No TRT. My testosterone is on the low side. I used to compete as a powerlifter, speedskater, bicyclist. I've been lifting weights consistently since 1978. I still race bicycles. I'm probably the only person to take first place in the shot put, and place at bicycle time trials in the same year at the Senior Games . . . also competing at Senior Nationals. When I was younger I could incline press 85lb dumbbells for fourteen reps, and now maybe do that with 55lb dumbells. So the strength just goes down. I'm looking to compete in some bicycle races in the sixty year old category, and maybe do the Huntsman World Senior Games this year. I've had to quit doing some exercises because it just hurts in a bad way, but just stay at it. I work out maybe ten times a week with a full time job. Weights every weekday morning. Then after work I will do either cardio or weights three days a week, then on the weekend mornings go bicycling. If I feel tired, I will back off a bit.

What happens if you lose your job when you are 50 and can't afford TRT anymore? Or what happens if - okay, things are different in USA - but in my country, the only legal TRT is no longer produced (company went under), and it is really hard to get any TRT anymore, even when doctor prescribes it? I train every other day doing only one major muscle group, mainly partials (full range of motion will ruin your joints AND is 100% the opposite of how our ancestors expended energy) so that gives me nine days of rest for each major muscle group. I try to eat a minimum of four Ribeyes per week for lunch and the rest of the days hamburger patties or some other form of high grade protein and fat. I also average about 25 whole eggs a week. I eat a heavy cream and butter and not too many carbs. No drinking or smoking. I float at around 18% bodyfat without counting one calorie and have 17" biceps at 5'-9". I've never had high testosterone (highest was 460 when I was 58) but was in the low 300's in my early 50's. My androgen receptors must be decent since I'm still able build strength and muscle over the last 4 years. Every man is different and you have to experiment to see what works for you whether it is diet, PED's, workouts, rest, etc. "Wellness & TRT Clinics" believe every man needs TRT but that is often not the case as Mr. Hulse explains.

47 and just was put on TRT in Jan due to levels at 350 tot/ 2 free (yes "2") and have been on Levo for hypothyroid for 20years. Was feeling lethargic and weak, diet in check and have lifted for 15years 5 day splits hybrid style
Started as pin then to gel after 3mo.and roller coaster ride. Monthly blood tests to monitor, dialed back gel to every other day now with plan to quit. Honestly don't feel does much, but E you said it, 100% just don't care enough and don't wanna be needing it if SHTF (and looks like its headin there..). Still train 5 day hybrid, diet not perfect nut not bad and supps just BCAA and pre workout. Have to still take Levo due to hypothyroid as it will always be a condition, but joint ache and just back off training as needed.
Weekends are for family and outdoor dude work (loggin, building, fixin) and just have to dial back weights in training as needed from pain. Basically just came to terms my DL and squat wont be 400 anymore, by being thankful to God I can still do it, just push to at least get in the routine even if some days just bar weight.

43, been training since I was 16, never took TRT. I'd say the only thing I notice that's different now as opposed to when I was 20 is the recovery time and the fact that I need to really warm up before workouts. There's some accumulated effect of the injuries I've had over the years, but mostly manageable. I get tennis elbow every once in a while from doing too many pull-ups and push-ups, so there's that. Other than that I'd say I'm almost as jacked as I've always been. Just limit stress, eat good food and make sure you get enough sleep I guess will work for most people.

Not gonna lie sometimes it’s hard to do anything on my rest days and I just want to lay down, but overall I’m proud of being all natural, all I see people on ozempic losing a bunch of weight and other people on trt getting jacked but idk I just want to know deep down inside that my body does not rely on any substance to function. Just my own hard work and discipline to keep me working towards my goals.

Stretching and breathing exercises are huge for me nowadays. Strength training usually causes an injury of some sort for me now. I use to be able to train like crazy. I feel old at 28 but kids and work are hard to balance with a healthy life. Yoga, qui gong, tai chi, basketball, shadow boxin, and free flow movements (ido portal type stuff) are my go to now. Stay limber and fluid is my advice guys. Calm mind helps relax the body and helps it recover

I’m 50 and have never taken TRT nor tested my test levels. I have a stressful job and am often on my feet all day. I perform a basic fully body routine (squat, bench, row, pull down, incline bench, overhead press, quad extension and ham curls) once per week. I perform upper upper body one day and lower body a couple days later. I only perform one core set per lift. For example I will perform, after incremental warm up sets, a set of 10-13 squats reps at 315 lbs or 10-13 bench sets at 275 lbs. I am pretty strong and this routine has maintained my strength and I’ll occasionally get some gains. The rest of the week I do cardio and accessory lifts like curls or tricep extensions. My body can’t take much more than that though eating more protein would help. Concerning my testosterone I figure if I still get a boner when I sleep then I’m good. I could lose of a few pounds though people often tell me I’m jacked.

    I'm turning 40 soon.
Been on TRT for 3 years and stopped 6 months ago because I wanted to get my girlfriend pregnant. I was very nervous about coming off but it has been pretty easy. I had low sex drive for about 2 months and zero sperm count.
Now I feel completely fine and sperm count is 160 million. I need to sleep a bit more now. I had high blood pressure while on TRT but nothing when I'm off.
When you are on TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy), you typically have higher estradiol levels. Elevated estradiol can lead to increased water retention, which may result in higher blood pressure and a swollen appearance.
Your red face was probably high blood pressure.
After working out for 15 years, 12 years without any drugs, 3 years with. I have zero drive to workout now after I came off. It just feels boring and pointless.

    • @Phaeer
      @Phaeer День назад

@@doitordont6150 There are absolutely no guaranties that your nuts will come back online after TRT. I would highly recommend freezing some sperm beforehand, if you want to have children in the future. Most men get their sperm production back, but as I said - no guaranties. If I would have done it over, I would have frozen some sperm and been on HCG while on TRT to keep my nuts from going completely offline. I was lucky that everything came back to normal with a mild PCT after 6 weeks without test of 25mg tamoxifen every day for 5 weeks. I would have taken HCG if I was able to get my hands on it, but I wasn't at the time.

I'm not exactly sure how old you are but going on 47 and having been doing the TRT for about a year and a half the only side effects I've had are that sometimes the hormone levels become unbalanced and have had to adjust the dosage that I take. My testosterone ideally measures about 1200 to 1400. At one point during the blood work my testosterone came back at 2200+, so I had to lower the dosage that I was taking. Overall it has helped me thin down quite a bit because even though I've been bodybuilding for 30 years I had started gaining a lot of weight around the abdominal area despite the fact that I was training like I normally do and doing my cardio.
The other side effect of which I think was worse is that I started getting more acne in my shoulders and chest. But if you take something like a DIM and there is also a supplement formula that Amazon sells to regulate hormones, which is specifically made lower acne. That made my acne clear up about 95%.
