In my opinion, Muhammad Wassem Jr. should have been part of this test team playing. He is the only bowler in this squad, who can bowl at 140+ kph and hit the hard length consistently. He was doing that during World Cup 2023. I don't know why selectors are not picking him in these conditions? These conditions perfectly suit him and he is also handy with the bat.
I was asking the same question but then someone in the comments told me he is not a regular domestic bowler/test bowler so it would be hard for him to ball 15 to 20 overs per day idk if it's correct or not

Pakistan's bowling, to my surprise, is looking cleaner and sharper. However, fielders cannot let them down. Australia played a solid defense with sensible shots. In my opinion - Pakistan took day one for themselves however, 2-3 wickets short could cost them early in day 2.

I have been hearing about the boxing day test and how it has so much significance in the Aussie culture, today I have been to the stadium to witness the glory, and my oh my I realized it wasn't just about the cricket on the boxing day, it was a festival, fans in the stadium having so much fun, drinking, eating, kids playing cricket outside the stadium with their dads and uncles, colorful clothing, music, banters, the beer challenges, all that was so fun to watch. Now I know why the Boxing day test is so freaking awesome. And also I came to know why test cricket is so much cherished in England and Australia, because its not at all boring for a single minute when you are in the MCG. It was once in a life time experience !!!

Sad to see Shaheen's pace drop. He usually is in the high 140's but seems to now operate in the early 130s. He's bowled pretty well this series despite that with good skill and control but I think he needs that extra pace to really take wickets. Gotta feel for fast bowlers nowadays just too much cricket. Hope they manage his workload.

@@kosan2875 I think it's very generic to just put it down to fitness. Shaheen is not only playing every game but he's bowling most of the overs in those too. There is a breaking point for anyone. He is super fit and a natural athlete

Plenty of life in it early. That drop catch cost a 90 run opening stand...when you choose to bowl that can put you instantly on the back foot for the game. Horrible drop.
Good stuff by Shaheen for not dropping his head when it happened. He came back with a couple of excellent spells without luck. Bowling got better as the day went on.

There is absolutely no reason why not. Cricket being played on the MCG on Boxing Day dates to the 1860's with a Test being played there in the 1950's. It has been a fixture since 1968.
