STRUCK GOLD!!! Old Town Sportsman AutoPilot 120 Maiden Voyage (Kayak Fishing)

- I picked the perfect day and location for the maiden voyage of my new Old Town Sportsman Autopilot 120 kayak! I provide a brief overview of the kayak before heading out for some early spring kayak bass fishing. The new rig performed flawlessly! The Minn Kota trolling motor was all it was cracked up to be and the stability, comfort, speed and overall ease of use made it a pleasure to fish out of. I was able to land my first largemouth and smallmouth bass of the year on a jerkbait and some feisty mountain rainbow trout were very exited to chase down my little spoon including a beautiful golden rainbow.

Yea! Those stickers came out perfect! Old town is really killing it on RUclips right now.
Awesome kayak Cornell have fun and enjoy!!!
What a great looking quick fishing platform. Thanks for the show.
I just scored the 136 on clearance at Cabelas. Best video I've seen since I bought it. I am even hauling it on the same trailer. Lol I subbed and can't wait to watch more videos.
Cornell ! ditto as Jeremy said, great to see you back. That kayak with minkota trolling motor looks terrific. I know you’re looking forward to many more trips. God bless!
nice video of the gap. nice little place till summer hits
love those old town auto pilot kayaks they are super sweet! great video as always!
Hey Cornell: Thoroughly enjoyed it. I shared it with my fishing friends. Smart move by Old Town giving it to you. When anglers see you using it, it will (continue to) sell like hotcakes.
Awesome rig Cornell! Nice stringer too!
I just got an old town 136 yesterday, it's super fast and the weeds aren't a problem, like I thought they would be.. fin kayaks are super slow.
wicked golden trout man thats awsome
What up!! I had the fortune to meet you at Black Hills a couple years ago when you caught a huge Muskie. Congrats with the new yak
I’ve driven that same trailer on 300+ mile trip and it’s still rolling
Luv the technology on that motor..beauty yak period
welcome to team Old Town! Upgrading my Predator as we speak....
Thx!!!
You're going to love it. Hope to be out in mine tomorrow. You've already found out by now that it is a dry Kayak. I've never put my plugs in and I'm not having any water issues. Prices on Lithium Ion have come way down. I got the FPV which is very light 2x50 = 7+7= 14lbs for 100 amp hours, but there are way less expensive ones that are just as good, just not quite as light. Nice first fish.
Let's go!!!!! Missed you my man
Hell yeah love the yak bro!!
Glad to see you back man! Always a good day when you post your videos. Also, amazing little kayak!
Thanks Jeremy!
That is the sickest kayak I've ever seen! Nice trout and fat bass also! 🤙🏽
Thanks man!
First off congratulations! What a awesome rig! Super jealous! I look forward to see your future adventures! That ipilot is a game changer I love mine!
Thanks Mark!
Yeah I want the 136 series for sure hopefully ill be able to get one this summer.
Nice video👊👊 I ended up buying the nucanoe unlimited with a MotorGuide spot lock trolling motor can't wait to get it
Congrats on the new yak! Thanks for sharing, stay safe and connected. BTW, what a fish! :)
Thanks Mark!
I love the color! Good Call on the registration sticker maker. I'd do the same if I had to register my yak. I love that it's pre-drilled for wiring. That's handy. I hear about shipping damage all the time. That's just crazy. You need a crate in the rear tank well. I'm sure you'll get her all rigged out in time. The thought of having spot lock is intriguing, but in my weedy waters... it'd be tough. Thanks for sharing your maiden voyage in the Old Town 120. She's a beauty. Wow.... those golden trout are amazing.
Thanks! Cool idea huh!?!? Electronics are coming today and it should be a breeze to install. I will definitely be making the yak my own piece by piece. I got my golden and you got your clown!!! Congrats!!!
@@RUclipsFISHINGVIDS Thanks Cornell!
Oh man wow those are nice letter. I live in Germantown myself I was just out at black hills
Been waiting on this one! Awesome video man
Thanks Nicholas!
Nice been waiting brotha
I just got a 120 PDL and like a lot but wish I had that side storage like yours, oh and that paddle is so cool
man that kayak looks so dope
Congrats on the new boat and also not falling in the water on your maiden voyage 🤣. I'm suprised you haven't done some more trout content this year.
Thanks man! Glad I didn't fall out too...
im glad i watched this now i know which trailer im gonna get .
I have the same kayak and for the ultimate control add 2 micro anchors on the stern. I actually have the Yakgadget Quick Stop Anchor teamed up with an Anchor Wizard and the Yakgadget Shallow Stick Anchor System which is just a $40 gizmo that manually enables you to use a stakeout pole. That way it holds you in perfect position regardless of conditions.
I’m used to running across your vids with you in the bass raider, when I searched for vids pertaining to this particular kayak I wasn’t expecting to see you! What a treat. I would really like to know how this compares to the bass raider to you? You know pros and cons an what not.
After a couple times out I’m really curious to see how it stacks up in your book vs the bass raider, as a bass raider owner and of how many boats I have owned the bass raider is so high on my chart it’s unbeatable . This makes me think of how awesome the raider would be with auto pilot....
lookin lean and mean in the new kayak congrats, still miss seeing you in the bass raider
Thanks man! You won't be missing me on it for long as I am still planning on putting it to good use.
Bad ass kayak brother.
Nice set up awesome video
Beautiful rig. Wish I could afford one.
I just came back from a long RUclips hiatus, how's it been? That's a nice kayak. I hope you enjoy it man.
You’re like listening to a running commercial...❤
Lol he said “ she’s wet” and then laughed, the joy 🤩
Nice outfit, but hard to believe how expensive they are becoming! Wouldn't you to better off with small john boat? My grandfather used a 12 footer with plywood fitted in bottom along with 9 up motor for decades near Southport NC. It was a flounder machine! Easy to transport and load.
To many people it’s better than a Jon boat. Depends on the person. Many people honestly just enjoy kayak fishing
Well done my man!!! If you're not a fan of vertical rod storage, check out horizontal option from Gatling Fishing. Also looking forward to you posting a windy day video.
Thanks Jon!
The old town autopilot 120 and a bonafide ss127 with a motorguide xi3 hold the title for best motorized kayaks
Nice video! I love this kayak! This is diffently my next upgrade.😁
Hey man i subscribed to your channel love seeing more kayak channels from Maryland Iv been through 2 kayak purchase with in the same year life time Teton dicks specials lol and then a pelican catch power 100 that did not cut it in oc and now my 3rd is coming the pedal drive 120 old town for my ocean city fishing I stay in that area but it’s a small world in Maryland I might and hopefully run into you out some where man can’t wait to see more vids from you man and hopefully run into you on the water some time exchange stories man I just did the chop tank tournament half the day dolphins where hitting my boat and following me guess I’ll get used to stuff like that
Must be nice to get a kayak from them as they are so back ordered.
Just got my ole town Auto pilot 120 i wish it had a case too store the minn Kota unit
Thank You For Sharing this! I was wondering if and when this Video would Strike!!
NP! Thanks for watching Andrew.
@@RUclipsFISHINGVIDS Your Welcome!
That clip at your feet should be attached to to your lifejacket. A dry suit would increase your survivablity if shit happens,, otherwise a good video. Those scupper plugs are pricy, but from your video they do the job. I have a 136 and love it.
love your vids glad to see your back. i almost bought me one of these but decided to go for a boat since i fish the potomac river so much.. but man this kayak is perfect for our local lakes since all the lakes around here dont allow gas motors
Thanks for the awesome review, and finally a video that shows you actually catching a fish.
Looks like an awesome product... we'll definitely have to add this one to the mix!
Nice video!
I wish they would give me the 136 to tryout an give a review on an keep it.
I would jump on that dill for sure
What length trailer is that? And how far does it stick off the front and rear?
Hi Cornell,
I just finished watching your RUclips video - Struck Gold!!! Old Town Sportsman Auto Pilot 120 Maiden Voyage (Kayak Fishing) posted on March 28, 2021.
I have questions about your trailer setup. I made my trailer from scratch for my Old Town Sportsman 106.
I don't want to use carpeted bunks or PVC tube bunks and looking over SO Many You Tube videos that seems the way to go. But, I have been thinking for my trailer a flat plywood floor would really work for me.
Looking at your video you show a plywood floor on your trailer to carry your Old Town 120 Kayak. My questions are: (1) Any negatives in using the plywood floor instead of any kind of bunks? (2) Did you treat the surface of the plywood to make it easier to load and unload your Kayak? (3) Did the plywood do any damage to the surface of the bottom of your Kayak? (4) Have you changed your trailer setup in any way since posting your video?
If you get this Email, please consider responding to my questions. Your video was the only one on You Tube that showed a trailer with a plywood floor used to transport a Kayak. FredSG
could you say word or two about selecting a trailer , I am guessing that there are dozens of trailers which will work just fine for this kayak
thank you
This thing is more expensive than both my Bass Raider 10Es. Nice kayak though.
FUCK YEA
'TAKE A PICTURE'
and then goes and metal detects around them lelel. def a funny but AYE''' but ya beach baby takes the prize. i like to party, but i too, like the familia' side of things
Would you happen to have information on that trailer you use to tow the kayak? It's a great size exactly what I'm interested in
It's a Harbor Freight folding trailer...THX
Where could i get a trailer like that for mine? is that a specific one or model? I dont know anything about trailers
Hard pass but really nice rig. I just gotta stand and turn around normally
Lol ... I have the same trailer with Jackson BigRig. I fish the lower Potomac. Hit me up when you want to buddy up down here.
What type of trailer is this?
Wish I got mine free but only paid 2500 out the door and I'm loving it
Great video man. I recently just bought the same boat and am searching for a good trailer for it now. I noticed your foldable Harbor Freight which seems like a great option. However, I read that with these trailers it's not recommended to exceed 45 mph. Do you have any insight on this?
Thanks Evan! I've had it on the highway and have not had any problems running at those speeds. You'll have to be the one that decides if you are willing to do the same. Good luck and enjoy your new rig!
@@RUclipsFISHINGVIDS Thanks for the quick reply! That's great news considering the price of it. Last question: did you have to do much additional wiring to your trailer?
@@evanb30ify NP! No additional wiring. You just have to install what is included. At least that's how my was...
Great video bud! Question how much does the motor alone weight?
Thanks Austin! 24 pounds…
Does rain and splash water drain out of the cup holder?
whats the name of that swimbait and jig head u have tied on ?
How did you hook up that trailer to a Sienna? I have a Sienna!!! Lemme know!!!
Could you share what scupper plugs you’re using? I have the same boat. Thanks for the vids!

@@RUclipsFISHINGVIDS thank you for taking the time to reply. You’re the man!
Have the PLD106
I mean I got this stimmy sitting in the bank!!!!!
U gone need about 2 kids with that stimmy to get this yak...lol
I got'em...lol....single dad life baby
@@jerikortega 😂😂
👍
How does stability compare to the pro angler?
Are you calling them golden because of where you are located? I thought the yellow trouts were called lightning. At least that’s what everybody calls them here in California. Nice catches and yak btw.
Thanks and yes. They call them golden trout around here. It's basically just an albino rainbow trout that's bred to be beautiful.
Great video what kind of trailer is that??
Thanks! It's a Harbor Freight folding trailer.
Does anyone know where I can buy one??? I’m having hell right now. Any info would be much appreciated.
I'll give you some advice , never use spot lock when standing. Drift or go slow speeds forward. Spot lock will sometimes turn and kick on at a speed of 6 to 8 for a second or two if it looses GPS for a little bit. It could catch you off guard.
Super great tip, and true!
im guessing the autopilot always puts the bow into the wind so does that mean if i wanted to fish the bank i would have to cast out the back of the kayak? or can you point bow at the bank and it will keep the bow pointed at the bank?
It will definitely be pointing into the wind if you're using auto pilot so there'll be times you're casting from the back of the boat or other directions that may not be ideal but it's well worth the inconvenience to have it.
...Silly question alert..
Does it take a battery to operate pedals on a kayak??
what scupper plugs did you use for the autopilot? can you link them?
Here you go...

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
Hey I noticed you said Germantown … do you live in southern Ohio? If so where is this lake? I moved down here from Akron Ohio and would love to try and get some of them trout. Don’t know anyone down here or any good spots. Ty for the video, I really enjoyed it
What line and rod are you running on that kastmaster setup?
6 pound test fluorocarbon on a Lews custom speed stick drop shot special rod.
What maryland lake are you at?
which lake was that
What pelican did you own,I plan on buying a oldtown auto pilot
I still have the Pelican Bass Raider 10e.
What was the link for the registration decals?
Here you go...
signarama.com/locations/md-germantown/
Jack will take care of you.
What river or lake is this? Launching point?
At that weight would you just be better off with a Jon boat?
Since when do you have to have registration numbers on a kayak
When it's gotta motor
I've actually been debating this exact trailer! how does it do on the interstate? im assuming it won't do 120 lol but curious how it does at 40 (in town) -65 ish(interstate) ? or if its even rated for that?
So aggressive on the release. Just....plop. Give them some love. 😁😁😁😁
jessie
So i always ask this ? to everyone. Why do you want something that everyone else has why.
"She's wet" lol
I know with the boat mount model MK you can save waypoints with the phone app. Is this the case with this model? Edit: Never mind it has iTracks ruclips.net/video/k2tsIRp2KFk/видео.html
Not lithium ion
Registration for kayak, why bro
Maryland and motorized
@@RUclipsFISHINGVIDS bro i want a yamaha or a Honda engine on ur kayak, i dont trust electric
Do those plugs on the floor help your feet keep you dry in this? Every video I've seen for the autopilot everyones feet are wet with water inside
They sure do!
