One thing I might suggest is....when handling your tourpak.....or actually before handling your tourpak....make sure the latch is locked. We have a tendency to grab onto the latch....and if it is not locked....it will snap open and could do damage. Just my 2 cents
Thank you John and thats some great advice for the other guys too! I'm pinning this comment to the top. Something I should have mentioned but I always keep mine locked so it never crossed my mind. Thanks again brother.
WOW , very nice job and a money saver . I just bought a chopped tour pack for my 21 streetglide special , and your wall mounting system is definitely the way to go . THANKS
Thanks this video is very old and I still have this one up and just built another one for my other pack for the road glide..about 20 bucks maybe at local big box hardwire store..(Menards) if you have one in your area or Home Depot.
Damn!! Talk about a cheap piece of equipment. Why in the world would anyone use this? Now I gotta go to Menards and spend money. I have been looking for ways to hang my tour pak for a while now. Thank you so much. 34° out but going on my bike
i would add some thin wall plastic tubing over the bolts small enough to fit inside the tour pack bracket slots to keep bolt threads from gouging into the plastic and chrome tour pack bracket slots.
You can still use your 16" center studs, just use 18" of all thread instead of bolts. Also, turn the tour pack upside down and let it rest on the bottom all thread while you can still lock the latch on the top side. If you want to get fancy, use a piece of 3/4" pipe on the all thread. Just a thought, Thanks
Why will my I phone not sync to through the aux cord but works thru blue tooth on my 2016 road glide ultra. I updated the infotainment system by using your video and it worked fine, thanks for that
Nice man - This video came up on my search of alternatives to the purchased products and I'm glad to see your approach---Plus I'm riding a '14 SG so kinda cool - Be Safe !
@@Thezerostatus nothing wrong with that..I have a whole series on youtube called ballin on a budget where I used a lot of amazon parts. Good luck with your build!
Fantastic !!! Been thinking of a wall mount and here you go! Thanks for another great video. I agree with the use of all thread instead of bolts. Going to get this made and installed.
Hey Scott. Yes sir, I think the threaded bolt stock will be much better ...I think they were around 4 or 5 bucks vs the 2 or 3 bucks I payed for the bolts and washers.
Good idea for getting the tour pac up and out of the way. One more thing though. If you purchase a stick of 3/8 CPVC and cut it to length, it will slide over the allthread and give the plastic pieces on the rack a softer, smoother surface to lay on instead of the metal threads of the rod. I built a rack for my Airwing luggage rack & Sissy Bar and the 3/8 pvc works great.
Hey Mike..I appreciate that man. Thank you for checking out the videos. We have some new stuff coming up. If you're on Facebook check us out at SIK Baggers and join up..a lot of good dudes in there
I tried that but the weight of the tour pack then is leaning forward and putting all the weight on the plastic quick detach clips...just something I noticed
mines been hanging since I made this video..no issues if you lock the pack down ...you can also flip the pack so the U shape is at the bottom and then lock the top in. They sell similar set ups pre made for over 200...this is just a homemade version to save some money. thank you for checking it out.
Yes sir...very easy to make...If I did it again I would probably use the threaded bars instead of the bolts...that pack is still hanging on my wall however since I made this video..you can see it in some of the newer vids...stick holding strong
when i watched this, I, like john doe, wondered why you didn't flip the tour pak around and lock it in from the top down. to me that seems safer as it won't fall straight down as you try to lock in the 'back'. have you tried mounting it this way? is there something with quick release that worries you?
So I went and built this only to find that there is a part of the rear mount that protrudes off of the mount, past the plastic clips, that hits the wall before the plastic clip can engage the all-thread rod...
pull your stud bolts out on the bottom and add some fender washers behind it. Make the rack attached to the wall at an angle so you have more clearance. If you need to buy longer stud bolts.
Ya dude I actually just stuck some 1x4 i had around just ending the angle iron at top and bottom... spaced it out nicely and I’m rockin and rollin! The all-thread flexes a bit much for my taste so I’m gonna get some stainless tube to slide over it and solidify things a bit more... I also added an anchor point above it that I just tie off a rope to as security 🤘

@@sikbaggers You are right it is your tour pack. Just pointing out that things a lot heavier and expensive than a tour pack are held up by less every day.
@@sikbaggers Also I usually just take 2x4 scrap and bridge the gap between the studs for things like this because 2x4s are cheap and easy to work with. In your case 2 20 inch 2x4s would probably work perfect.

It's funny how often that happens. Ill be riding down the road and my brother next to me has his trunk popping up and down.

Was sitting here thinking of a way to do just this. Great job.
Built it last weekend, it's badass and looks good on my wall. Thank you!!
awesome! I loev them, and cheap to make...i have 4 of them now...still using these made in this video years ago!
Thx! Great DIY video.. I went ahead and used the all thread to bolt to the wall studs 16” os. Works great
Brilliantly simple! Most logical design I have seen!
Thanks Tim...been hanging since I made the video no issues..cant beat it for the price. works great!

Thanks for the advice. Easy to install and cheap as well.
Glad the video helped you!
Just built one for myself today. Thanks for the great video! Works great.

Thanks SIK baggers works great no issues at all👍👍👍👍👍

Muito obrigado pela dica!!! Idéias simples e econômicas que funcionam tão bem quanto as originais caras!!!
Dude, you guys are awesome
This is brilliant! Got to do this in my garage!!
I now have 6 lol...they work great and if you're ballin on a budget you cant beat it!
@@sikbaggers haha! I’m definitely gonna do this my 05 Electra glide “Amazon” build! Lol this falls under ballin on a budget for sure!!!

Thanks for the video Steve. Just built this and it works great, long enough to hang tour pak and back rest.
Nice!! Glad that it helped...much cheaper than buying one for sure!

Mainly I would like to know where to get a replacement seat after I remove this hideous tour package on my 1996 Ultra Classic
Steven this is awsome. Thanks for putting this out there and thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos they help alot.

Nice, thanks for sharing. I will make one for sure……..👍
Try mounting it 180 degrees from whats in the video, so itll slip into the front tour pack notch easier...backpad facing down...just an idea.

Very good.
I just want to know how to take the tour package off properly!
Whats the spacing measurment of the the 3”bolts? Thx

No sir... U can mount it either way... Mines been hanging theee for awhile like that... No issues.. Either way works though
Good stuff 👍 Way better than how I was hanging mine "by straps" LOL
Kimo H. I'd say this is a little more secure lol but hey if it works.
" Thanks " for the share . that'al work.
Youre welcome
Great idea.
Thank you Lee.
Sweet!
Thanks for checking it out Jerry! Pretty easy deal.
just use wall lags for the ones with no stud
I like it
thanks man

I don't think the wall stud is needed.
If you want to hang your 1000 dollar tour pack from drywall or particle board, go for it. Ill put one in a stud.
