    I learned of this swap thanks to this very video. The next day I found a rolling chassis 70s swb frame. With drop spindles, springs, new steering components balljoints & a sway bar. I swapped everything in. The only things I changed were wobbling the 2 holes & drilling the other 2 holes, drilling holes for the sway bar mounts I cut off the 73+ frame, & the brakes I was able to use the complete brake system off the 73+ chassis. Thanks for the videos MrHevyshevy!

    its nice mrsheavychevy is into metal art, its a way for you and her to spend time together in your shop, both doing what you enjoy, but not getting in each others way plus being together but not too much together so you dont get on each others nerves. but watch out, she keeps on, she'll have you making your own art projects....but if you take it to the right preppy/hipster flea market shop, you can make a pretty profit. at our Ben franklin some years ago, they had local artist's wares for sale. one of them, I kid you not, was a old wooden step ladder like the one in my dads barn, it was a little rotted on the legs and "patina" of old paint, they had $150 on it. anyone else cleaning wherever it was found would have tossed it on the trash pile.

  • @jjdriver55
    @jjdriver55 7 лет назад +1

    Glad to see you got the cradle mounted , sorry I forgot to mention the brake lines would need new holes drilled. The idler arm will bolt up in the opposite direction if you drill a couple new holes. The swap is easy and well worth the benefits in the long run.
    The power brake booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve and hard lines will also work very easily with a little modification. , If I can help let me know , ** ( jjdriver55)

    Thought about trying what you've documented here.
    It's not the first time I've referenced thus EXCELLANT video .
    I wish other RUclips video makers did as well.
    Halfasskustoms and DEBOSS garage have swapped stuff with much greater effort than what's contained here !!

    Ok cool, this is the closest vid i have found for what i need to do. I have a question. I have a 72 C20 with disc on the front and drum in the rear. Is there any newer year of 2500 3/4 ton with 8 lug with all disc that will bolt on similar to what you did here? I cant even find an aftermarket system that will upgrade my front to newer disc system and a rear conversion kit to match. I need better brakes i'm dropping a cummins 6bt in i'm building to a 425 or close to it. Im even changing over to a hydraulic assist system if i can get a disc set up. I cant wait till my granddaughter is a bit older, she is 3, so i can get her out in the shop and have her help me My grandson loves cars, your lucky you have a wonderful family and all enjoy tinkering with trucks. Thanks in advance hope you can help.

    I have a 66 and having trouble with motor mounts I had to use the clam shell because I can't find the stud bolts for the old mounts so I got the brackets off a 78 one out of four holes lines up and I had to stuff it in place . I'm not sure it's right . How much distance should I have from trany to fire wall .how high off the cross member should my engine be . Or rrather what was your distance from the front of your motor to the radatior .

    how the battery turn out? idk myself but heard use distilled water , but dang the 66 going to be awesome , that poor square body lol im amazed at the square body fan pages how butt hurt people get when we pick the squares up cheap and use them for donor parts trucks. wish i had pictures of the square body i pulled my motor and trans out of before the junk yard came and got it for 75.00 dollars , when only paid 200.00 for the whole truck, found a few inline 6 squares , but 400.00 to much when its only a 6 banger, i need some donors trucks with some sbc engine parts near charlotte nc, guess auto fair is in my near future, '' I aint saving it'' :)

    Once you get the steering box mounted, then you can mount the idler arm. Just keep the draglink parallel to the frame and the suspension crossmember. If you need a steering box adapter plate just let me know. I'm also known as Captainfab on the 67-72chevytrucks.com forum

You gave us an idea of doing the same swap with this video. You can watch the videos on our channel of the vehicles in mind. We want to swap front end suspension from an '86 suburban to the '64 GMC with a 305 v6. I think you'll agree the benefits will outweigh the extra work, is that right? The rearend would still be 6 lug and we would need to have 2 spares unless we swap it as well. Please advise since you've already done the swap. God bless you and your family ; keep up the good work and keep instilling true American values to yours, ours and others!

    It's "sad" that you need to keep little miss hidden in these videos. You can see it from the way you handle the camera around her and it sticks out. But I get it. Internet is what it is... It's sad that you have to do it.
