This conversation was so heavy and so good all at once. Can you even imagine how much better the American church would be if we ran our services more like AA? Like, instead of an altar call, people stood up and admitted their weaknesses. If everyone was truly real and honest? Man...
1:06:08 this part was so inspiring, but also so sad to me. I don’t know how as a church we became a place where people couldn’t come in honestly, broken and hurting. I lived in abuse for years and years without telling anyone at church because of the shame. Now that I am free, I have said, from the pulpit, many times that we have to be a place that people can come broken so that they can find help at church! I pray that conversations like this spurs others to change the narrative in their churches that it’s not a time we have to come presenting a perfect image. It’s a time we come broken before Jesus and our brothers and sisters in faith, so that we can be restored! 🙏🏻
I'm a newer fan of Scott Stapp. Had been a fan of the three Creed songs I'd hear on the radio for years. A friend of mine raved about his live shows and I finally had an opportunity to catch one this past October. Man he and his band blew the doors off!! I was shocked how much I liked ALL of the songs (i'm a big 70's classic rock type so newer music had not been as appealing until the last few years.). My husband also loved the show; he said it felt like a real rock concert. Now we're listening to Creed and Scott's solo work on a regular basis. I was so impressed with Scott's live show that I had to go again and that opportunity came up with my dear friend that had always been recommending. She lives in FL and we went down to the Clearwater Bike Fest in November. Totally awesome!! Loved it so much. So much passion and depth; we could really feel every word, note and beat. After listening to this interview, I give Scott a lot of credit for talking about very personal things/issues he's had. He's inspiring a lot of people by speaking up and out, at his own pace / comfort level. Thanks for all you do. And, to your family, for their love and support of you. I'm also new to this show and had a suggestion - maybe add info on how people can find recovery programs in their area? Add the suicide hotline, too? Thanks for having Scott on - great interview!
Thanks so much for having Scott Stapp on, fan of his and of Creed! The conversation in this interview was really great and please have Scott back!❤I think Creed and Nickelback should tour! I’d go see them on a ticket together!
I have seen Scott twice. He is amazing live. He gives a performance like he is doing for concert for 20,000 people even though is a small venue in Bristol VA. We had a phenomenal night. I look forward to seeing him again and again!! Thank you Scott❤
John, thanks for sharing. And Thank you for this episode. It was sad in parts, but also so uplifting. Sometimes we ( humans) are so proud and we don’t even see it in ourselves. But a show like this really highlights it. It is so difficult to be vulnerable to others. Even those close to us. But that’s what’s needed for all of us. Deep connections. That is seriously lacking in my life. I know that.
Thank you for this interview and in depth into Scott with his demons! I got mental health issues and his story has helped me so much for what I've been through with anxiety etc
Dax Shepard's podcast had a friend on, who stayed at his house and found his journal which logged all of his dates of sobriety and that story will always stand out to me. The fact he never gave up, even recently his 7day episode was so vulnerable and open.
I got creeds first album and all others from the Christian book store that my parents owned in Arkansas so it definitely was sold in Christian outlets. 🎉
Cut his hair again. Always long for like 2 years, and back to short hair, then long again like 90’s stapp. Stapp is looking so incredible. He looks 10 years younger than he did in 2013.
I heard stories of Christian bands getting scrutinized by both communities. They also have their own faults too. This is why we still need Jesus. I'm not a fan of Creed, but I respect them. Good interview.
Sharing experience, strength and hope - thank you! Matthew West's song, Truth Be Told, goes right along with this. Good stuff! I came late to the Net Positive podcast but I'm getting caught up! PS I've had them all but the best coffee 100% is campfire coffee.
Idk how Christians don't understand this is "spiritual warfare". Scott has The Holy Ghost dwelling within him. I've been a music publicist in secular music for as long as Creed has been playing & I eventually Repented & gave my life to Christ after so many replays of his records. I thank God Almighty for His chosen ones such as Scott for the anointing purposed over him in writing The Gospel into his creative works. Christ Jesus Is KING!
I didn’t throw anything up at Scott at Creed concert but I did at his guitarists Mark Tremonti…It was my first time in pit at a concert up front. I was young had a crush on him mapped out what side of stage he’d be on (not that hard lol) made sure i was on that side. He wore those sweat bracelets to hold his guitar pics so I bought a pack of volcom ones I wore one and was gonna give him one. Anyways it was too light to get up there so I wrapped it around something to give it weight …anyways 15 yr old me got a little too excited when they came out and saw him for first time then when I made eye contact I lost my mind lol… I showed him I had something for him and he nodded (or in my teenager obsessed brain he nodded) I took that as “ya throw that at me while I have no hands free cause I’m playing a concert” well I threw it 🫠🫣 and apparently I was aiming for his face lol cause it hit his microphone right by his face… he had to twitch to avoid it 😨😅 (I forgot to add we were made aware VH1 was there filming the concert) so at that moment all my hopes of marrying him as a 15 yr old btw went out the window…. Cause he was mad! And you could see it! All he had to do was look at a security guard and I was told I’d be kicked out or something if I did it again…it wasn’t till end of concert when I watched everyone give their gifts to the band (when their hands were free of instruments did I realize Oooooohhhh that’s how it’s done! Pretty sure my creed poster came down after that!😂 no I continued to love them! Have a whole shrine of stuff I accumulated over years including a guitar pic from that concert… went on to see the weathered tour as well! Happy to see Scott healthy and happy!
Hey Scott do you have time for a story?....When I worked as a nurse I studied different religions because in medicine we accommodate for all the practices its a part of quality of life...Anyways my projects continue in my dreams and I actually had encounters from different religions....From the people of the heath (older than Christianity) was an elderly woman (a witch) and I was sitting in her kitchen and she approached me with a parchment in her hand...on the corner of the parchment was spilled ink and in her other hand was a chicken foot (my grandmother was a farmer dont get to freaked out)....She was welcoming me to their religion and the feeling was she wanted me to use the ink and chicken claw to sign the parchment and become one of them...I woke up freaked out by the chicken foot ...and for buddism the sound of the foreign mans voice woke me up...but when I dreamt of jesus he was in the players box ahead of me in a hockey shirt looking across the rink like a chess board and I was looking up to him like the best player on the team....I was content with that and in my heart and mind christianity is my religion...I think religions are like cultures different but the same and that the first spirit is god and all religions meet there...It would be so cool to hang out and write some day bro! My little brother owns visual drip (you tube) if you or someone you know needs visuals for a show, he does raves all the time...
Scott is insanely self serious, that was always his thing, like he is pretty poor at joking around (he reminds me of Damon Drainman in that regard). But he seems like a way more balanced person
Scott seems like the coolest guy. The host should have let Scott lead the conversation more and not talked about himself as much imo. Also he should have done more research about creed before this. The host didn't even know my own prison was creeds first album
Absolutely happy to see him turn his life around, he was a clown for awhile, I mean it is somewhat honorable to have the guts to call in your family for having AL Qaeda connections, but I am glad that was a false alarm ANyway, Creed, A leaguers, we need a reunion.
John Crist, I know you have good intentions, but you seriously need to READ THE TRADITIONS before you talk about A.A. in the media. I suggest you go to a meeting and say "I talk about AA on my podcast a lot" and see what kind of feedback you get. Because you are breaking the traditions of AA. And there's a specific reason for it. By talking about AA in the media and declaring yourself a member, you are appointing yourself as a representative. Then what happens if you disgrace yourself in public? What does that say about AA? Did you say you've been going to meetings for 3 1/2 years? You don't know what the chips stand for? You don't know the traditions? Seriously, go talk to some old timers and tell them what you're doing. It's totally not cool. It's one thing if you say you're in "a recovery program" or "a 12 step program", but to get on your podcast and represent what AA is all about is 100% frowned upon. And it's not because people are ashamed or secretive, it doesn't matter if you're cool with it or you talk to your guest and they're cool with it. It's to protect the fellowship. Most recovery programs read the traditions at the beginning of every meeting. I'm sure you can get a copy. Read it and learn what it means. I've never seen a media figure do what you're doing. Please educate yourself!
Bro Inn The Green Jacket or turquoise Jacket We aren't Here To Hear you . This is the worst interview I have ever seen and heard !!! Scott deserve Better Than This . Y'all talk to much About Yourself. We are here for the Rock Star !!!!! 😡🤬😡🤬 No one knows Who y'all Are and I can see why!!!! 😂😂
This was great to listen to. I'm 16 months alcohol free. I don't go to meetings, but I've been delivered from alcohol use!
Inspiring!
Amen! I am SOOOO proud of you!!
Amen! That is beautiful testimony
I can listen to my fav singer/songwriter Scott Stapp all day everyday! His music was the catalyst in my lifes transformation. Such a great interview.
Creed A leaguers

Planned on sharing this exact thought with my life group after hearing this episode!
Celebrate Recovery, a 12 step meeting where the higher power is the Lord Jesus Christ. Saved my life.
I watched this whole thing CRAVING an iced coffee 😂
Me too!!! Lol

Scott is such an wise and humble dude.
Love to see people healing and back doing what they love. Great show with Scott. I am looking forward to hearing the new music.

1:20:44 that's my case! I'm 27 and I loved Creed when I was a child. Today I have the chance to see them live and I'm pretty stoked about that
Great episode, Scott looking so good, and such a calming voice when he speaks.
I have seen Scott twice. He is amazing live. He gives a performance like he is doing for concert for 20,000 people even though is a small venue in Bristol VA. We had a phenomenal night. I look forward to seeing him again and again!! Thank you Scott❤
I didn't know he came to Bristol. I'm sure he was killer. Hope he comes back.
That lollipop story is hilarious! You were lucky it didn't hit you in the eye, Scott.
Great conversation! Thanks for sharing your stories!

Hope you all stay strong and keep on the path. I have nothing but respect for recovery.

John keeps imitating Scott by saying yeah. But instead he should have said yyyyeeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I can hear that 😆
Love this content ❤
Love Seeing Scott doing Good!
Great episode!!
I got creeds first album and all others from the Christian book store that my parents owned in Arkansas so it definitely was sold in Christian outlets. 🎉
Please add a show in Minnesota!!!
Goode episode.

Weathered and human clay are 2 of the greatest albums ever made.. bring back Creed ❤
Stapp is the man.

ANyway, Creed, A leaguers, we need a reunion.
Stop cutting off you guest damn
Tip for the host. Let the guest share their life story. It's not about you.
