Paul had a lot of great songs in the 1980’s that were sadly overlooked. This being one of them.

We were recording in the Virgin Islands for the album which became London Town. We had hired a mobile studio and put it on a boat and it was a holiday with the kids and everything. During that time we were staying on a boat with a very macho captain who had made his fortune in condominiums.
We fell out with him, and I said “Who wants to stay on your lousy tub?” and we went on to a trimaran called Wanderlust. So Wanderlust became associated with freedom, breaking away from oppression - let’s get out of here. Years later I wrote this song based on this experience.

One of Paul’s best songs ever, it deserves to ranked among his other great ballads. I can never get over how beautiful and clean everything is on the track. The acoustic guitar and piano in particular are so bright and lovely, George Martin really outdid himself on the production.

  • @wpollock1

One of the under appreciated (non single) songs from this 5 Star Tug of War album. George Martin's touch on this album makes it special - the addition of brass is brilliant.

Why improve on perfection. Harri I know you love him. Great reaction. Thanks Harri and Alison, for making it a great Sunday.

I’ve always loved this song. I feel the sea air when listening to this. I love the counter melody as well. It was the ‘80s, ’82 possibly? George Martin produced. This song was included in the Give My Regards to Broad Street movie. He did a medley of Yesterday/Here, There, and Everywhere/Wanderlust. My favorite scene in the movie because Ringo is there.

I remember listening to him in concert and thinking, that's not him 🤔 I know controversial but when I heard Heather Mills on TV interview my mind was made up. I was a little girl and mom used to play rubber soul album all the time. If the tragedy had been made public what happened one cold and rainy night in '66 there would of been mass suicides from the girl fans, of that I have no doubt. Epstein said they needed two weeks before the news was broke, it never was. There is a clip on RUclips where Ringo and George said to Paul, we wasn't sure if you'd get on with us, odd remark since John and Paul founded the beatles. Research if your interested. A look alike competition was done just before he passed, the guy that won, vanished, completely. People scoff and laugh and why they've got away with it. I did too tbh until I heard what Heather had to say.
