I purchased these irons at a SIGNIFICANT discount after watching this video and I am not disappointed. I've been playing Adams Blue irons and the Nike Vapor Pro Combos irons are just so much nicer to hit. I don't know if it is because they are forged or that they are less of a game improvement club, but they are just buttery smooth. The feel off the face is just amazing and I don't have to worry about over drawing/hooking the ball because they aren't as draw biased as the Adams Blue irons. I've also gained some distance because I'm not launching the ball as high anymore. With the Adams I was launching the ball ridiculously high. I'm now carrying my 7 iron about 165 yards and my 5 iron about 190 yards. I've gained somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 yards. Couldn't be happier. Thanks for the great videos, but please do something about Rob's facial hair. Cheers!

Bought an ex demo set of these to replace my ap2 712s. Really nice clubs. Often overlooked now they are off the scene in the club world.

Love the video rick! Love how you bring Rob on to help high handi-cappers relate. Very nice to see Rob give his opinions on clubs that I would think to try out myself. Especially when I'm not on Rick's skill level. Great vid

You hit the Nike iron very well Rob. Very consistently. Good shot dispersion. I demoed an older set of Pro Combo's a few years ago at a demo day, and I was impressed. A lot easier to hit than I expected.

I really enjoy this series, even though I am happy with my irons (MP69s). I am amazed and impressed how well he does on camera (swing and presentation skills). No offense implied by that statement. I'm playing to a 16 now because I'm working on a few things but your tips, and Pete's, and my instruction is getting me back on my path to single digits again.

Keep Rob on. His opinion's are as valid as any decent golfer's and it's fun to see a gnome in sports wear. Please get him some tanning sessions instead of range time. Your camera can't cope with the contrast. It sunspots constantly.

I'm also a 13hcp looking to get to single digits and am also very interested at this iron. For some reason it just looked good in the pro shop, weight and topline was just right. Have yet to hit it. I also consider RSi2 and AP2 714's.

rob, I'm looking to get a new set of irons. kve narrowed it down to the Nike pro combos and the callaway XR. I don't know what my handicap is, but I'm just getting back into golf. any suggestions? I feel like the XR would be best for me because they seem to fit my skill level, but I think the pro combos are beautiful and I like how think they are compared to the XR. any input would be great, thank you

Those that are having a go at Rob are well out of order. Smack of the elitist element of golf, 'he's 'only' a 13 handicapper so what does she know'. Rob is giving an opinion (and he has an opinion, fair play to him for that) based on the the average golfer. The majority of irons Rick tests are not really aimed at a golfer of his quality. It's all very well Rick hitting a 6 iron nearly 200 yards and claiming it has magic juice. But in reality, if the vast majority of golfers think they will hit the same 6 iron 200 yards they are deluded.
Rob will give an alternative view of what the clubs will do, and I would argue, much more realistic view of what these clubs will do for the vast majority of golfers. Yes it's great seeing Rick smack a driver over 300 yards. But it's also very informative seeing what an average golfer (actually Rob is better than average with a 13 handicap) can do as well.
Rob, elitist haters are going to hate, you carry on mate, you and Rick are making some great videos here.

Very good ball striking Robert, you don't need any extra distance, the dispersion was tighter, than on any test i have seen by Rick,Crossfield or FInchy.

liam f bloody hell....that's a big claim lol. Thanks!
Hmmm watch some of the other videos coming up. You'll see I'm a 13hcp needing a bit more distance.
I don't wanna do a "Hulk". I want back my 150yd carry with a 7 Iron like I has. With the better accuracy I have now, it'll come good. I know it will.
      Thanks for your view buddy.

And I really like having Rob on as he is golfer like me so it's actually really valuable seeing what he can do rather than watching you crush shots all the time (although that's fun too)!
Wonder if there's any plans for Rob to hit fairways or hybrids as this is what I'm in the market for.
Especially interested as my driver SS is about 90 mph and I have a generally low ball flight.

G'day from Sydney, Australia Robert Potter ! I have been watching several of these videos now in an attempt to choose a new set of irons for myself. I am also a 13hc at the moment but have been steadily dropping shots over the past 12 months in the quest for single figures. I have Taylor CB irons at the moment which I have had for about 3-4 years and now have my sights set on Nike Vapor Combos, Taylor Rsi2 or Srixon 745s - which would you go with? Have you hit the srixons at all?

  • @vicibox

Thought you would like those better. Stuff distance, Nike never bothers about distance on its better irons they like to promote accuracy, look at how accurate you hit those. i found that really impressive. If you like them and hate the colour, then its only a single swoosh and Humbroil make nice little tins of paint. 5mins with a brush and solvent rag you can have any colour you like. Yeh I hate Volte too ;-)

He needs to find more distance if he wants to lower that handicap. If he got that 7i from 135 to 150 he'd lower his cap 2 shots. Cuz he hits it pretty straight

    • @robpottergolf
      @robpottergolf 9 лет назад +3

See i had the distance but sprayed it before the accident happened 9 years ago today, to be precise.
I had to work on my accuracy and knowing that at the time of my rehab i couldnt do much/any gym work at all. This really put me back. My Hcp suffered due a casting problem which came about in the eternal search for a better swing. A Coach tried to get me doing Stack & Tilt, which proved a massive mistake coz it went away from everything i have ever done. From being coached that, the STUPID swing fault came in. I was 11Hcp and on the way down. I was getting scores in the high 70's and shot my best gross of 75 at Leyland G.C. in 2008.
The Stack & Tilt was to put Distance & Accuracy together.
      Failed!
So its took me ever since to find a cure for the casting, and the scores have got consistently higher. I nearly jacked it in as I was sick of feeling I wasn't getting anywhere and felt frustrated. I decided to concentrate on being a Caddie, which to be fair has been great when I have had the chance.
With Rick and what we have worked on, I have a new love for this beautiful game again and I am getting myself back into the gym to get my flexibility and core strength back. It's my "Quest to get past the Ladies Tee" lol
