    I measure it this way:
if I still have a desire to create a painting,
that means my mental health is still good

Such a beautiful painting! Not boring at all! Yes, the sky is impressive, but so are the trees and roofs, the whole composition including the canope. And so many wise thoughts. I agree, the value (significance, not money) of a painting lies in the personal experience, which is why an AI cannot replace it. And yes, painting/art was originally meant to "record history" and so it does today, although not globally historic events, but personal experiences, thoughts, moods, feelings. Yes, that is what my art is to me. A photo can capture quite a lot, might even be personal, and yet painting the situation can give the moment and its "recording" so much more depth and personal meaning.
    Thank you for sharing!

I totally agree with painting as a way of documenting life experiences. I keep watercolor art journals of paintings of daily life on our small family farm. Something for my grandkids to look back on some day. ❤😊

I so agree with your take on AI. This painting is lovely with a lot of depth in layers working their way back. It's always interesting to watch you plan and work. Really enjoyed this video1

Another great video! I love listening to your stories and your thoughts and encouragements about the process. I recently discovered your podcast and it’s just great being able to listen to you there too. It’s kind of like how you listen to upbeat, faster tempo music to get you pumped up go to workout, except in this case you get me into a state of relaxation, and with a sense of ease I can go into the painting with less anxiety. You’ve really helped me to calm down and enjoy the process.

What do you mean by varying brush strokes?

Eric has a link on this video to a tutorial on changing brush strokes to avoid too much uniformity.

I like that you don’t constantly change your brush; using the same one and getting used to the nuances of it is something I often struggle with. Beautiful work Eric!

I try to make the most out of a single brush. Too many materials can get complicated ☺️
