If Joe's goals are MMA I suggest to keep training with the likes of Nick Diaz and keep his trainer. If he wants to excel in Muay Thai he needs to dump his trainer and whomever is guiding, because hes got heart and power but his technique/ balance will never improve.
Power? Sorry but landing as many knees and punches as he did without even stunning Shimizu suggests he has no power at all. Great show and cool moves, but he lacked power to finish a standing punching bag opponent.
Joe Schilling is from Los Angeles and they are fighting in Los Angeles. He has a bigger following than the other guy. Plus, it's not just an American thing. I've seen Italians boo other fighters, Thai's boo other fighters and Brit's other fighters.

i agree. alot of strong strikers can be a bit lacking when it comes to clinch work and ground work as well
