Thats why they are overlooked.. people want what they already like...they arent open to new things... If it didn't come from Americas Got Talent or similar, they wont open their minds
Very original and different band...love the whole sound, especially the vocals. Glad I found these guys from Sirius Octane Radio last year. Keep up the great work, Volbeat!!!
Saw these guys open for Metallica on their "Death Magnetic" tour. The fans were still drifting into the arena, buying their drinks and souvenirs, when Volbeat started to play. Everybody stopped, looked up, and stampeded into the arena. After these guys, "Lamb of God" was a big letdown as the 2nd opening act.
I was front row in Detroit. I agree 100%. They started playing "A Moment Forever", I literally said "Who the fuck are these guys," and I have never looked back. One of my favorite bands.
Eric Barr and Mark Stockman I saw them twice- once in London- I heard them before but never live- best concert I went to. I saw them again in a tiny venue in Portsmouth, UK again, amazing- I cry every time I leave... One of the few bands I will listen to the end of my days.
Saw them at the Louder Than Life Rock Festival outside of Louisville, KY. That was my second concert and they were amazing, they sound exactly like the album on stage
I attended the death magnetic tour in Anaheim. Me and my dad said "who the hell are these guys. Then machine head blew everybody out of the water. But I recognized volbeat on the golden gods awards. Never looked back.
That riff from 1:11 gives me chills every time I hear it and mometaly I feel like I am in race scene in a movie speeding definitely too much... Great song!!!
i saw these guys live last night...they are incredible performers. surprisingly, they sounded just like they do in the studio, as in terms of michael's vocals and their instruments. it was definitely one of the best sounding shows i've ever been to!!
Man, it's a modern day Elvis Presley. Maybe he was reincarnated!!! This guy rocks!!! Love the band... Heard them on the radio on day and by the time I got home to check them out on youtube, I couldn't remember then name of the band... Glad I found this.
I just heard these guys for the first time yesterday. This guy has the best male voice I've heard since Layne Stalely. These guys are awesome. Can't wait to see them with Ghost.
Considering Johnny Cash's "Folson Prison Blues" is in standard tuning and played with 5 chords, while "Sad Man's Tongue" is in Dropped D and played with 8 chords; I don't see how people can THINK this is a Johnny Cash ripoff....oh yeah, that's right!! You don't play/know shit about ACTUAL music. To be more precise, the only notes that are used in both songs are the E, the A, and the B (and their not even played in the same order/mode). So now, anyone who uses an E/A/B chord formation is copying Johnny Cash? Get real lol. Paulsens' use of the G chord in the opening refrain changes the entire music structure of the song (their is no G chord in Folson Prison Blues). Just because "On down to San Anton" sounds a LITTLE like "Out from a Sad Man's Tongue" doesn't make it a ripoff. It is a tribute song to (obviously) Michael Paulson's favorite performer of all-time. If you can't appreciate that, than I don't know what the fuck you're doing here in the first place. Learn to read/write music before you toss your judgement around because it is meaningless otherwise. It's like complaining about money as you sit and collect your welfare check...jabroni.
I'm a rock and roll, country, swamp blues and most of all metal lover. So, you can understand i'm on fire. Volbeat, thank you for keeping me smiling day after day.❤
If you check charts in northern europe these guys are legends and in my honest opinion 2013 was the shit for them, Rob Caggiano joined in and the album is "IN MY OPINION" the best one in 2013 the live shows are breathtaking and intense, filled and I mean FILLED with haevyweight guests, i have a feeling the world is going to be hearing about Volbeat in a near future
I'm just a bit late to hear this band (read, TODAY). But after doing a bit of exploring/listening, I really like this band. This is a good modern take on rockabilly, and, OK, they started with an obvious Elvis nod... but didn't plagiarize, at least in my opinion. After all, if you go there, then ANY band who uses the I-V-vi-IV riff is plagiarizing. How 'bout we just listen to the music and passion?
How can you dislike ANYTHING these guys do?? One of probably three bands I've heard where I enjoy every..friggin..song they make. I hope I get a chance to see them live one day.
Actually, if you're doing vocals in a band, you'll notice the same patterns in cover l Volbeat songs. Up the ladder, down the ladder. And horrible singing technique, pronunciation out the window. From a pure objective musical standpoint, this is just crap ;) it's like rock techno for the masses. With power chords and bad vocals.
+1HUFFMAN At its essence, this IS what Elvis and Mr. Cash were playing. We (Finns) were in same bus with people from USA (so they came FAR AWAY!) 20sec in and I started thinking, Wow, Cash rip-off. Glad I saw your post. AWESOME SONG.
They even mention Johnny Cash himself in the song! Twice!
Mate it's no ripoff it's the f@#$en best it's a tribute to johnny rock on brother.. aussielad 🤘
It's not a cover...It's a different song with different lyrics and music...
Folsom prison blues wasn't a cash original anyway... It was Johnny's version of crescent city blues by Beverly maher..
