Great pictures of a difficult and time of struggle for Americans. What is the background music? It really accompanies this presentation well.

Is Clarksville seen here the same as Clarksville sung about by the Monkees? I googled and found out it's a ghost town. Almost everyone is laid back seemingly without a care in the world. Thanks for these pictures of another place in time.

Coming from Lancashire UK, the first we saw cotton arriving from America was in compressed bales, ready for carding, spinning, weaving and printing. It is fascinating to see photos from the agricultural side of cotton growing. Most folk in Lancashire must have imagined that cotton starts its life as compressed bales in some magical way, because of course with our climate no one can grow cotton!!

A very labor-intensive product until well past WWII.

From what a lot of economic experts are saying, this could be America 2023, so maybe we need to watch more carefully, and gain wisdom and insight, in case we end up like this again.
