My no-buy January went to hell in a handbasket. I was overcome by FOMO due to the decrease in quality of RH and LOL OMG and I ended up spending *more* money on older releases while they're still available. However, this is no-buy February, and I mean it. 😅😅
I get FOMO with Monster High - especially after how second hand became generally expensive. Then I remind myself I only have so much personal space and money for my dolls, and I will end up missing out no matter what. So it just doesn’t matter
Congrats 👏🎉 on completing your January no-buy month! Im currently doing no-buy for dolls this month for February. I think its good to have a cleansing when it comes to buying dolls.
I'm doing a no buy quarter and the first month was really hard. However, I caught up on dusting, installed shelves I had for months, and gave my thrift store dolls a spa day. I found a PDF of a doll collecting Girl Scout badge and I'm doing the activities saving the best one for last: going to a doll show!!!! Thank you for the idea.
I failed my no buy because of the Anna and Elsa brittney lee dolls that went on sale on the 10th of january 😪 so i decided to prolong my no buy to 10 february and i am in the trenches currently, my boyfriend got me lps as a surprise which i am grateful for, but the worse really is the second hand market because the fomo is very real there 😭😭 Thank you for inspiring me to do this, i should do this more often my wallet loves it
I think the LPS will be coming around alot thankfully cuz they've restocked like 5 times near me 😮 it warms my heart to see them so popular again ❤ I hope you get some of them!! They're so cute!
hi! i wanted you to know that your original video inspired me to try this with my girlfriend for march! her and i were extending it to all of our collections though (mine especially being vinyl records & hers being perfumes). i love the idea of this, and i'm sure between unexpected releases & limited edition drops, its gonna be hard. but i'm sure will also have a great pay off at the end!
I was inspired by your pledge and did it as well. I was able to not buy any new dolls in January. Every January I always buy a "new" Living Dead Doll because it is a doll series that I still collect, trying to obtain older dolls. I have been more picky in purchasing any new dolls. I was tempted with the latest Off White Monster High doll but the price made me pause. Happy that you made it and thanks for the unintentional suggestion😊.
I will try this out for march! I failed so bad in January but it's mainly because I wanted the Always Bratz line I am in love with the outfits on Cloe and Yasmin.
I found LPS at Walmart yesterday, so they are starting to roll out!! I did pretty good about purchases in January. But this February, I kinda already bought a lot. But in my defense, most are gifts for my partner for Valentines lol
So proud of you congrats on doing it!!! To this day I always stop at the toy aisle in all the stores just to see the toys and dolls. 98% of the time I don't buy anything I just want to see the toys, if I don't go to the toy aisle I feel so weird! lol I hope you can find the LPS. Toys R Us has so many of LPS, maybe try looking in Toys R Us inside Macy's? Question when you were looking for the LPS on Feb 1 did you see Venus from MH in stores? I think if you didn't buy Venus in Dec you would have been a lot more nervous.
I agree about Venus! I have yet to see her in store, so idk if she’s just been selling out or hasn’t reached my area yet but I definitely got lucking buying her in December. I’ll have to hop over to Macy’s to see if I can get LPS lucky next haha
I did buy an EAH doll before catching on to the no-buy January, but did pretty decent after that. I did buy two random dolls impulsively, then I returned them before I opened them.
@@FaeryTaleDolls Maybe I’ll try the rest of this month and a little in March (there’s a doll show coming in my area in March and I do want to go to that 😅)
I am aiming to do a no buy February AND March for dolls until I start my job back up again in April. But the Jinafire Long Skullector doll will have to be an exception since I know if I don’t buy her in the 2 week window I’ll likely struggle to find her at that price again. Plus I am already so in love with her design. But I am determined to otherwise not buy another doll in that time frame! Hoping I can do it.
@@FaeryTaleDolls absolutely! I've gotten a few lots of bratz on ebay recently so getting a new doll just doesn't feel the same! I think I need to appreciate all the dolls I got before I think about getting more! I have so many that could still use some attention 😊
I could be wrong, as I'm newer to collecting, but is January sort of a slower month for new releases? It's a good month for that being after Christmas. I may try the "no buy" in January next year. I spent more than I wanted, because of the fomo on Rainbow High dolls I still wanted. But this month, I'm trying to put a limit. Hopefully I succeed.
In general I would say yes! But there’s always some odd releases (like LPS, Venus, and the Always Bratz dolls) that start releasing on the cusp of the new year/depending on location have weird availability…it’s hard to predict lol
If I’m being 100% honest my standards for stands are low so like…I can’t recommend any I’ve bought lol since sturdy is not quite how I would describe them 😂
Apart from Venus, I don't feel that I need to buy another doll anytime soon. I'm good. I would rather have dolls that I have to have rather than just because.
For me the test of my self control with collecting is sticking to a strict budget every single month. My budget used to be $300 a month for 2 years but now that I have a lot I've moved it down to $150 a month. Of course sometimes I spend a little more in one month because of sales or limited releases and then I have to have a limited or no buy month to make it up. I've been using this method of controlling my collecting and spending for 2 1/2 years and it works great. It would be a lot trickier being an influencer though because you gotta have the product to make money so you kinda have to get stuff when it's new/relevant, especially if it's something you really like or is a hot item. All in all I think having a rough monthly budget and a firm total year spending budget is the best way to moderate spending and over consumption in a collecting hobby.
I was doing so well until January 29th when I went to Walmart to get diapers, milk and other items and wandered to the toy aisle and ended up with 6 dolls so I definitely failed but I'm proud of you

To be fair that kind of feels like extenuating circumstances lol, wishing you luck for February!

Congrats! My no buy in Jan was successful as well, it helped really solidify the ones I want for sure cuz I would think about them more
Happy for you!

Congrats on your success as well!
I love dolls but I love even more organized lists 😅 this was so satisfying to watch for some reason! I love your videos
Thank you so much! I’m also a big list fan lol

Yay! My Monday just got better. ❤

Personally I wouldn’t count gifts, like…buying for someone else feels very different than buying for myself haha
@FaeryTaleDolls Very true! A lot of the time I feel guilty spending on myself.

Good luck! Totally get it with Jinafire, collector dolls like that are a reasonable exception to me since they tend to only get more expensive
I attempted a no buy, but got almost all the slime dolls, got Ever After High dolls, and some g1 Monster High dolls. Safe to say I failed it.
It can be hard haha
I think i need to do a no buy! Buying dolls just isnt sparking joy the same!
It might be helpful! After a while it becomes like a fun prize haha

What are some good doll stands to use ?I’ve seen different types on Amazon but I need something sturdy .

100% having a budget is always a good idea
Will you be buying the new jinafire doll coming out?
Most likely! I really like the choices so far ♥️
현명하신 생각이셔요.^^

I mean you got really really close so props for that!
